I know that some are disappointed with this release, but are any of us this much so? :o It appears that this same guy also did rants about various other Disney Blu-Ray releases. I also believe he used to post on here (though few crazy rants like this), though I'm not going to mention his username.
The guy is a PSYCHO! I've seen a few of his videos, he never explains what his problem is with a certain edition, he just says that the ones he owns are better.

Let alone the fact that he titles and refers to it as 'not be getting'....

He's clearly not right.

Exactly, this guy kills me. Not only was that pointless, it was also a total waste of 16 and a half minutes. It would've been one thing if he actually had an argument and actually had valid points to back up his opinion. All I heard the entire time is how he hates the cover art and a mention of the lack of BD-Live. He doesn't even have a valid reason to rant on and on. It seems like this guy really doesn't care about Blu-ray releases in general. He should compensate us for our lost time.

My Best Buy in Oakland/Emeryville did not know what I was talking about! Going to have to buy this one online. Just as a warning to anybody else in the San Francisco Bay Area, this location is consistently terrible so don't even bother. (I just end up there because it is right next to Target.)

Tell me about it. All the Best Buys I've been to all around the country consistently have some of the the worst customer service and uneducated employees.

I showed up at the store closest to me at about 11:45 this morning, 45 minutes after opening, and went through three employees who all didn't know a thig about it. One told me "oh I think that's in the vault or whatever, you can't buy that one." After explaining to the most competent of them how the preorder case works, he then searched for it in the computer and sure enough, they were released today. But he said that it looks like we sold through all the copies we had already. I'm guessing I was the victim of a scalper here.

So that was frustrating, but I ended up going a city over an they had them at that store. They were also much more helpful about it. So I got my hands on one. It's a really nice case.

Rediscover the timeless story, the memorable music, and unforgettable characters-now more enchanting than ever! Cinderella has faith her dreams of a better life will come true. With help from her loyal mice friends and a wave of her Fairy Godmother's wand, Cinderella's rags are magically turned into a glorious gown, and off she goes to the Royal Ball. But when the clock strikes midnight, the spell is broken, leaving only a single glass slipper... the only key to the ultimate fairy-tale ending!
This beautiful collector's edition features the original soundtrack plus 'Lost Chords' tracks which consist of actual demo recordings that were not included in previous releases as well as new recordings of those demos featuring full orchestration and mastering as if they would have been included in original films. Enjoy 24 tracks of one of Disney's most revered Princesses.

I love it that they used the Blu-ray artwork, instead of the DVD artwork.
Are there any among you who bought the film on Blu-ray? If so, what's the word on the restoration?
I will be picking this one up as well! This looks really good. :)

1. Wow, I love that the unused songs are now included in the new soundtrack! Awesome!!!!

2. I have a Cinderella question. Where do these lyrics come from:

"A dream is a wish your heart makes when you're feeling small. Alone in the night you whisper thinking no one can hear you at all. You wake with the morning sunlight to find fortune that is smiling on you. Don't let your heart be filled sorrow, for all you know tomorrow, the dream that you wish will come true."

I know there were used in the Disney Channel Circle of Stars music video back in 2005, but I found out the lyrics were written way before then.

Yeah, one time I asked about an Component to HDMI converter. the guy said it was illegal.

I directed him to the BB website. :)

I watched the Cinderella DE BD last night. And Im moderately disappointed. I don't mind the color changes - however i HATE the heavy DNR... I can't enjoy the transformation scene again, there is so much DNR applied that much of the character animation is gone - AWFULL! Despite of the heavy use of DNR I noticed grain in a few scenes...

Im all for removing grain (when we're talking animated movies), But it has to be carefully done... This restoration is a DNR disaster... I think Disney could make a much better transfer that was still scrubbed clean, but preserving much more details if they did a 8K or even 4K scan, removed the dust and grain and downscaled the movie to 1080p... Im not sure but I think Cinderella was a 2K scan at best...

Maybe this was an impressive restoration in 2005? In 2012 it's definitely not.

Gosh, how think am I ?! I didn't even register that is was all on one disc, when the others have been doubles ! I only clocked it from watching Beauty & the Beast on blu, which is pretty jam packed, with the beautiful animated and interactive menus......then Cinderella all plonked on one, with a quite frankly WAY too short loop of film and music that gets beyond annoying much too quickly.

I am sadly quaking in my boots for The Little Mermaid to be released. I so badly do not want that film to receive the same treatment this one has.

This may be ridiculous, but what is DNR?

DVR/DVNR is basically an automatic process that removes blemishes and grain, used for both live-action and animation films. A lot of studios use it, with Disney actually being one of the ones who use it less so. Having said that, it can be very detrimental, as it can accidentally remove many subtle details. It is particularly detrimental in traditional animation as it can remove character outlines, among other things. This article explains it quite well with some more extreme examples.

It appears that Cinderella got DVNRed for its DVD and Blu-Ray restorations. Disney Duster recently created a thread about the restoration, which kinda proved that DVNR was unfortunately used. In particular, fairy dust went missing, and outlines sometimes disappeared. I'm not sure whether it's worth getting into lengthy debates about colour based on old VHS and laserdisc masters that weren't perhaps right to begin with, but instances of DVNR being used are definitely unwelcome in my opinion.

There was a documentary on the Wizard of Oz huge DVD set that came out a few years ago, and I remember them talking about the restoration process. Basically the program kept picking up the ruby slippers sparkling as dust or dirt, and kept trying to erase them from the film! Forgive me if the details are a little vague, it was a long time since seeing it.

Is this the same thought of thing that happened here? Save for the fact Warner Bros were horrified and went over the restoration with a fine tooth comb, whereas Disney hasnt ?

it's a promo for the upcoming expansion on Fantasyland in Disneyland. The feature is hosted by Ginnifer Goodwin and it explains what's it's gonna be like etc etc. The expansion will be based mostly on Disney Princesses (Snow White, Belle + Ariel) and it will also have some other shops and games

Not to be super anal, but the expansion is happening at Disney World in Florida, not Disneyland.
