With LSOH it was essentially him and Howard working through it themselves and calling the shots, and with a major studio you risk getting "Part of Your World" cut because some kid can't hold onto a box of popcorn.
And even when they adapted Little Shop of Horrors, a couple of songs were cut even after they were filmed, like when "The Meek Shall Inherent" was dramatically shortened or the infamous re-shot ending that took out "Don't Feed the Plants" and had Audrey II die at the end.
Yeah, but that's just for the movie. They had creative control for the stage show.

But think how things might have been different if Alan Menken had more creative control! Like how Howard Ashman was Executive Producer (?) and worked on the story for Little Mermaid and Aladdin, and of course those turned out great.
I dunno. Howard and Alan seem like very different people. Howard seemed like the kind of guy who thrived on being involved in all aspects of things, i.e. how he did the book for LSOH and the lyrics and then moved into tinkering with the stories on "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty and the Beast" whereas Alan always struck me as the more laid-back one who sort of just stuck with what the musical aspects. Even if Alan had creative control offered to him, you have to wonder if he'd want it.

Also let's not forget that most of Howard's story work on "Aladdin" was jettisoned. While he certainly contributed to the finished product, his fingerprints are less visible on it than his past films.

Had the 3D version pre-ordered on Amazon with $8 off, but went with the 2-disc Blu-ray + Fantasia/2k Blu-ray for $10 off on Amazon. Don't even have a 3DTV, but I guess it shouldn't be too big of a deal to sell this copy and buy a 3D one when I do.

I'm more glad the blu ray discs have a more interesting design than all the DVD discs they've been releasing. Thanks for posting!

Probably get the regular Blu-ray combo pack since I don't have a 3DTV, or plan to get one.

Are we sure this was not coincidental? Why would they do that on purpose? Is that supposed to foreshadow the bunny coming out of the bushes later on? Is it a hidden "Oswald" perhaps? :P

In fact, I have a feeling there should be a topic devoted to the collection of these videos/pics/artwork as we know most of them wont be on either DVD or Blu-ray.

I think we can forget about our hopes of Tangled's success in Japan.

My prayers go out to everyone effect by this tragic time. I hope everyone I know over there is coping and that we all band together to show our support.

It's sad for Walt Disney Animation Studios and Tangled that the film's box office sucess will get hurt by this major disaster. Can't Disney delay it's premiere?

But that's a trivial matter, it's box office sucess is of little importance compared to the loss of lives and all the damage in Japan off course, I am really saddened by this tragic event. I have donated some money myself to Red Cross to help.
Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful

They have, actually.
Scheduled Japan openings for a pair of animation titles -- Disney's Tangled and DreamWorks Animation's Megamind in 3D from Paramount -- were in limbo. Both were anticipating lucrative payoffs in Japan's animation-crazed market, timed to March school holidays.

Okay, I should just say nothing and move on, but ....

After everything that happened in Japan, we've got people on the forum who are most concerned about <i>Tangled</i>'s box office stats? :o

/end rant. Carry on, friends! :)

Back on topic. I saw <I>Tangled</i> for the second time yesterday. I think it's unfortunate that it was released the same year as <i>Toy Story 3</i>. I am still of the opinion that <i>TS3</i> was better film and deserves all the attention it gets, BUT <i>Tangled</i> is flippin' awesome itself and is sort of being overshadowed. I'm thinking that if it had been released this year, against <i>Cars 2</i>, it would have had a better chance of coming out on top.

But I could be wrong.

Each person that mentioned the box office in Japan also mentioned something along the lines of "obviously I realize that that is of no consequence in comparison to what's going on over there. Pray for Japan." no one is 'more' concerned about the box office.

God, some people have this mentality that when something like this happens, its all anyone is allowed to talk about or else they're a bad person.
