Re: Zootopia
To me, the only real "surprise" villains are Hans and King Candy, just because up to the point they reveal themselves there was no reason to believe there were major villains in those movies--especially since Elsa and Ralph both struggle against the "villain" label as the overarching storylines.
BH6 and and now Zootopia on the other hand build up the question of who the villain's identity is, establishing that there is a villain and that their identity will most likely be unexpected, which is a bit different.

Re: Zootopia
While I like a proper trailer, I think Disney is showing too much footage before the movie. But at least people are much more interested now then they were after the first teaser.

Kristen Bell's sloth dream has come true.
She's the female sloth:

OH MY GOSH, WHY DID I RUIN THE VILLAIN REVEAL FOR MYSELF?!
Re: Zootopia
where would you place the twist between these:disneyprincess11 wrote:OH MY GOSH, WHY DID I RUIN THE VILLAIN REVEAL FOR MYSELF?!
1. Wreck it Ralph
2. Big Hero 6
3. Frozen.
Best to worst.
I'm trying really hard to avoid any spoilers for this movie!

This isn't a serious spoiler, but beware if you want to stay completely spoiler-clean: I think the villain in this case is well-chosen, since she is a reflection of Judy's own conflicts throughout the movie, imo. My worry is that the villain will fall flat anyway since, in BH6, I liked the concept/story for the villain, but he still was uninteresting onscreen.
Yeah, that is my worry too. I like what they're doing to Bellwether. But, it sounds like from the books that the villain reveal will be like "I'M THE VILLIAN!" and the movie will end. So, I don't think Bellweather will be developed enough. Not to mention "the Nick is evil" now is fake.
I'm just getting bored of these "I'M THE VILLAIN! I'M THE VILLAIN! Ohhhhh I have a tragic backstory" cliches. I'm glad Moana and Gigantic will just have straight-foward, evil villains. (Unless they give the King of the Storm Giants/Imna's dad a "Oh, my wife is dead, so I have to hate everybody" backstory, which I have a hunch they'll do.

1. Wreck-It Ralph: By far, the King Candy/Turbo reveal is the best. It's not just "I'M THE VILLAIN! SURPRISE!" reveal. It's also "I'm the villain, but I'm *this guy that you have forgotten about*" reveal. The twist also glues the movie together with Vanellope, the dangers, what Ralph could be etc. And most of all, King Candy/Turbo is just evil. There are no pity parties. He's just a power-hungry, crazy guy who almost almost kills a little girl twice!taei wrote:where would you place the twist between these:

2. Frozen: Sadly, Hans was ruined for me. But, what's so great was that he is the typical Disney Prince. Sweet and romantic, but then, "J/K! I'm taking over Arendelle!" It's a little predictable with "DON'T MARRY THIS GUY" and my brother immediately caught on. But, the "DON'T MARRY THIS GUY" is so new to Disney that you confuse the foreshadowing with "Oh yeah, we're in the 21st century now." There is a little backstory why Hans is evil, but seeing that he almost murdered 2 powerful women says something.
3. Zootopia: I like what they're doing to Bellwether. It's not a Disney-villian evil. It's just a social justice/morality evil. You get why she's doing it, so that preys can have equality and power. But, it sounds like from the books that the villain reveal will be like "I'M THE VILLIAN!" and the movie will end. So, I don't think Bellweather will be developed enough. Not to mention "the Nick is evil" now is fake.
4. Big Hero 6: Very predictable villain. You actually feel bad for Callahan and you understand why he wants revenge on Krei, but he's still uninteresting

If you didn't know, you wouldn't even suspect that all of Alan's characters were voiced by the same person.

Yet another clip:

It seems there's a new clip every day. I don't usually avoid watching trailers or clips from new Disney films (mainly because I can't resist watching them), but I haven't seen the last two clips on this occasion, because you end up knowing the entire film before seeing it, and given that the film opens in Spain tomorrow I think I can wait for one more day.
