As someone said before, this movie is really trying it's best to deconstruct the concept of a funny animal based world.

The latest trailer was pretty good. It actually made me want to watch the movie whereas before I had literally zero interest in it. I didn't like Shakira's song though.

The Shakira song is there for the modern audience, ala Skrillex & Rihanna Wreck-It Ralph/Fall Out Boy Big Hero 6.

I wonder if there will be a short in front of the film. Shouldn't it have been announced by now if there is actually one?

Yeah, but Shakira has been around longer than them. Shakira may be a pop artist with straight and slick pop songs. But at least she made a name for herself in the 90's, prior to her international breakthrough. This is her first Disney gig and while I'm not rejecting your theory, I could see her do something Disney-related prior to this.
Several Hispanic pop stars have contributed to Disney priorly. Ricky Martin voiced Hercules in the Latin American version and made his own version of Go The Distance (with a different tune than Michael Bolton's). Luis Miguel sang the LA version of Hunchback's Someday. The Mexican star Lucero sang the LA version of Reflection (and voiced Jane a year later). Jon Secada sang both the Spanish and English version of If I Never Knew You (as did Shanice). And how about the Mexican singer Tatiana who voiced Megara and sang her song.

It's not to dismiss the others, but Skrillex was something anti-Disney and suited the genre of WIR. As did Fall Out Boy's song for BH6. But straight pop stars have contributed to Disney priorly and especially in Disney's former prime era, the 90's. So I could definitively see Shakira do the same. Due to her feminine, lyrical and poetic approach and persona (yes, I'm taking consideration to her pre-sexual image), I wonder what her relationship with Disney was.

What a great trailer! Movie looks fun, the story/mystery exciting, and it seems to have "heart" as well. Seems to be moving emotional parts as well, not just comedy. One can clearly see this is a Disney movie, as opposed to a DreamWorks movie. I went from being moderately (at best) interested in this movie, to really looking forward to it.

This spot showed more of Little Rodentia and Judy as a child.

The more I see of it, again the more I love the look of it. Still, the title change irritates me....

seeing quite a few trailers now popping up on UK sites which is good news.

This movie is going to be really deep, have surprisingly dark moments, and best of all an awesome villainess.

On paper, it sounds interesting, but we’ll see. For instance, Bellweather sounds like a good antagonist for Judy, but at the same time those quotes during the fight scene sound just like Waternoose in Monsters, Inc. So I’m skeptical that the villain will actually turn out as good as she could be or not.

This probably goes without saying, but I'm sure Zootopia will get a sequel if it doesn't bomb.

Aaaargh, what's with all these surprise villains? Four movies in a row! Pixar's formula has crept deep into Disney ...

At least this time it's a villainess.

To be honest, the only "surprise" Disney villain that really surprised me was Frozen's, but that was because I felt as though it could have been better foreshadowed and the villainous motivation could have been stronger. Big Hero 6 and Wreck-it Ralph were easy for me to see coming due to how the events in those films escalated, and I have little issue with surprise villains if they're cleverly worked into the plot rather than having the film hit us on the head with a sudden reveal (Wreck-it Ralph did this by far the best in my opinion, which makes sense, because it was obviously the film that sparked this trend among Disney's story team).

I just hope that they can at least build up to it well rather than just shoving a random character in as the villain for the shock value (and no, I did not read the plot synopsis, but only the spoiler about who the villain was).

I don't think WIR sparked the trend. I think it was just carried over from Pixar.

This isn't a serious spoiler, but beware if you want to stay completely spoiler-clean: I think the villain in this case is well-chosen, since she is a reflection of Judy's own conflicts throughout the movie, imo. My worry is that the villain will fall flat anyway since, in BH6, I liked the concept/story for the villain, but he still was uninteresting onscreen.

Because they forget that there can be good villains that are irredeemably evil and not just evil for "understandable" reasons

Then people still complain about how those villains don't match up to the past villains or in Mother Gothel's case they should have made her love Rapunzel for real. Not to mention Hans and King Candy/Turbo were treated as irredeemably evil that got what's coming to them.

Technically, Mother Gothel and King Candy weren't really "surprise" villains.
