I don't really care what the cover art looks like just as long as we get F & F2K released separately so I can arrange them in year order on my shelf.

^They wont. It's not like Disney will do that. Also, most people arrange either not at all, or alphabetically. They wont think about the few people who want to arrange by year.

They will - the Disney press release last year stated that all Diamond Editions were separate releases, and that included the Fantasia's. Also, Fantasia 2000 has replaced Aladdin which would have got the Diamond place anyway.

Me too!

And, Disney knows that it can make more money with two separate releases then it can with a combined with one, so that is what they will do.

I am a little worried about this release though. We have heard next to nothing about it in the last little while, and yet Disney is already making Bambi Diamond Edition inserts.

When you think about it, the original trailer that I posted came from BD-Live (hardly mass market) and the December 7th release date was accidently posted on Facebook (hardly an official press release). It got a brief mention in the Snow White Blu-ray insert and another brief mention in the international The Princess and the Frog Blu-ray insert but that's it. It's as if Disney's marketing division doesn't want us to know about this release as they've done their hardest to burry it.

Well to be honest, an official press release from Disney is pretty much just as reliable as some random site mentioning it these days. I'll believe it when I see it in stores (or online pictures, like Dumbo). And the fact that Bambi's info was put up on Disney's site, yet no mention of Fantasia is also not really helping me stay optimistic. I'm probably wrong though... well at least, I hope I am.

I've been thinking - maybe the reason it's taking a while for Disney to release some cover art is because they're prepping a Special package of not just the two Fantasia films, but of them AND Fantasia World?

Think about it, this could make perfect sense. They released a 'Fantasia Anthology' that was essentially just the 2 DVD's and an 'extras' disc to go with it, which was really the USP of that product. But since these Diamond Editions already have a huge amount of extras, releasing the two films combined with the 'World' disc would most likely attract a lot of customers if it worked out better value, and it would mean more people would be investing in the Fantasia 2000 film.

They may just be waiting until they can announce both the home video release of The Sorcerer's Apprentice and the Fantasia films at the same time. It makes logical sense for them not to announce, in June, a release that would not become available until December. That is more than 5 months of people forgetting about the Fantasias and Disney has been very (too) careful with their Blu-ray releases and they wouldn't want it to get lost in the shuffle. At least I hope this is the reason...

I've seen ads on Facebook for 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' movie with some images from the Mickey Mouse original used. Hopefully we'll get more info about the Blu-Rays around when the movie comes out, maybe?

Um..."just the 2 DVDs and an extras disc"?

That 3rd disc is extraordinary. If only all Disney DVD releases continued that level of presentation and quality. Your word choice sounds dismissive of the package, when it is perhaps the best DVD set Disney ever released.

I agree. The Fantasia Anthology box set is one of the best DVD sets Disney released. I managed to get an extra "Legacy" disc for only $2.99 and I store it with Fantasia 2000 so that both of the Fantasia films has its own Disc 2 in my Disney DVD binder.

Fantasia Diamond Edition release is a 4-disc box set
http://www.bigpicturebigsound.com/Disne ... -ray.shtml

"The Fantasia four-disc boxed set will contain a beautifully restored version of the 1940 classic--scanned at 4K and remixed for 7.1 channels--as well as Fantasia 2000, plus a platter of Blu-ray extras and a DVD copy of the film. Among the many special features will be an interactive edition of the fabled Shultheis Notebook, a priceless animators "bible" compiled over the career of one of Fantasia's key creators, and the first-ever home video release of Destino, Walt Disney's collaboration with Salvador Dali. Destino is backed by its own 70-minute documentary.

The folks at Disney have also thought up a novel way to preserve archival, standard-definition bonus features without cluttering up the disc: We will be able to download them via BD-Live! The Fantasia box will be released in December, at a price to be determined."

Yes, information out the wazoo. It's now confirmed to be coming out in December. It's a 4-disc release (1-Blu-ray Fantasia, 1-Blu-ray Fantasia 2000, 1-Blu-ray Fantasia World, 1-DVD of Fantasia). The interactive version of the Shultheis Notebook sounds awesome (for more on that, CLICK HERE and scroll down). It also sounds like they made the Fantasia Legacy extras available through BD-Live, to avid making this a 5-disc set (6-disc, if they would've included a DVD copy of Fantasia 2000).

Destino is confirmed, along with it's own 70-minute documentary. They don't mention Fantasia World but Don Hahn has confirmed on multiple occasions that the Fantasia 2006 shorts he produced, Lorenzo, One by One, and The Little Matchgirl, will be a part of this release.

Out of all of this, the Fantasia Legacy extras being included via BD-Live is the best (this is a guarantee that the DVD owner will unfortunately NOT be getting these extras, so hold on to you're current sets). Them finally utilizing the Blu-ray tech opens up a world of possibilities. Could the Snow White Diamond Edition receive the missing Platinum material via BD-Live? Now what about anything Beauty and the Beast may be missing, stuff fans cry for at the last minute that they didn't have time to include (like the oscar presentation or additional art galleries), could that come later via BD-Live? I'll go out and buy the biggest damn SD card I can find as this just has me soo excited.

Now that I'm thinking about it, the price shouldn't really be that much more. Plus with a coupon and all..
