Bah, for the last few days I've been disappointed that the Futureshop that's opening in my city's opening had been delayed two weeks from the 1st to the 15th because I wouldn't be able to get the steelbook, but seeing it now, and seeing that I don't like it, makes me happy again.jrboy wrote:FutureShop Steelbook

they really should have stuck with the original artwork like they did for the little mermiad steelbook. and by the way..did any of you notice that the march/spring PE has full color disks while the october/fall PE has the clear disk with a little picture. with pics of the disks from lighthousemike, i am seeing a trend in disk art.

"The Jungle Book" has full color discs. It just looks hazy from the scanner, I think. Given that Disney has had no unity scheme pretty much ever in the Platinum line, I doubt they have anything in mind there.
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
I think potterrules93 was referring to the fact that The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid and Cinderella all have shiny, reflective (mirror-like) discs, and the other ones don't really look like those ones.SpringHeelJack wrote:"The Jungle Book" has full color discs. Found this auction on Ebay with a Mowgli plush that is basically what I've been hoping would come out. Anyone seen this in the Disney stores? I'm wondering if you have to buy it together with Baloo (I already have a Baloo) or if they sell it (or another version) on its own. Also, I'd love to know if they have any Shanti dolls like this too. Wouldn't mind getting those two characters to add to my Jungle book plush display. Would love some wolves or vulture too, but I haven't heard about them making any of the original ones.

Incidentally, I have posted the live-action (public domain) movie on my "My Space" page for this week in honor of the Disney DVD release: http://www.myspace.com/slave2moonlight

Well, I do think The Jungle Book is greatly overrated myself and the story is a bit trite. It's an entertaining movie all right, but it's not a movie I want to get my hands on (or want to revisit again). That's precisely why I don't collect all the Platinums, I just collect the movies I like.

You've never heard of Little Golden Books? They're small books with cardboard covers and golden spines. Usually they're about 25 pages or so and are mass produced so that they only cost about a dollar each. Every Disney animated classic (well, except the anthology features) has had a Little Golden Book devoted to it (with some even being re-released several times). Many of them feature stunning artwork that evokes their respective film styles better than other picture books. Some examples:Simba3 wrote:Circuit City will be giving away a free "Little Golden Book" with your purchase (whatever that means).
And just to make this post semi-on topic:

I used to love the Disney Little Golden Books since I was a kid. Thanks for sharing those.Disneykid wrote:You've never heard of Little Golden Books? I am really excited for this DVD too and don't mean to rain on anybody's parade here, but can we please stop with the excessive quoting, in particular quoting the images? It makes things take longer to load and wastes bandwith. We all saw the image the first time it appeared in the thread; we don't need to see the same thing twice. Thanks.
