I had no problem using it @ Target. I'll take the DVD over to my brother's house sometime for my two of my nieces to watch (they don't have a Blu Ray Player).
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I got mine's at Toys R Us. I paid $14. I had to coupons so I gave one to a lady when I was in Target. I didn't get anything free though. They were giving away a photo album with pre-orders.

Margos wrote:Oh, no, I'm not bashing the review. It was very well-written, and he got his point across very well... I'm just saying it seems a little harsh... No, I haven't seen "Lost Treasure," but I just bought it an hour ago and plan to watch it tonight. I have seen the original, though, and I thought it was much better than this UD review (or its own) gives it credit for.
Personally, I'm not much of a fan of DisneyToon's work. I looked down my nose at DTV films all of the time. But, having taken a chance on "Tink," I found it extremely delightful. Yes, I thank John Lasseter's help with the retooling for that. If he hadn't come onto the project, it could have been a disaster. But I don't think it was "forgettable" at all.
It is not just about marketing or merchandising.... It is a good film in its own right, despite the fact that it was released directly-to-video. They did their research, and that shines through. It isn't perfect, but it is highly enjoyable. I could watch it again and again.
This is just my opinion, however. Everyone seems to think opposite things with almost any Disney film....
ahhhh ok, I got ya! :)
I agree now as well lol. but I am not a fan of the first Tinker Bell to much. So I agreed 100% with what he said on it lol. my niece didn't like the first one as well. Before the first Tinker Bell came out, they had scenes from third movie coming out. My niece would sit for that preview and be glued to the TV. I guess they changed it to be the last installment at the end. So I know for a fact my neice will love that movie when it comes out. However, I will see if she likes this movie. She loves to doll, so hopefully I will get my moneys worth lol. :D

I love Aaron's reviews and if he didn't like the movie, there's nothing that can change that. But I felt like at times he might have been too critical of this particular film. I also thought it was odd that most review sites have at least admitted that the film is entertaining, if not given it praise, yet the Disney review site gave it a thumbs down. But Aaron seemed objective enough.

I was surprised, though, that the review had some false information. In the beginning, it mentions that Tinker Bell was the only fairy around in the J.M Barrie play and book. While Tink is the only fairy shown or mentioned by name, there is one huge reference to other fairies which has always been there. "Every time a child says 'I don't believe in fairies,' a fairy somewhere drops dead." That was in the original play upon which the novel and all film version are based. "Clap your hands if you believe in fairies."

And I don't think this franchise changes Tink's personality much. She gets red-faced with anger and shows her jealousy and rudeness at times. They have to humanize her more, but her personality is not unrecognizable. I also love the fact that these films reference the 1953 classic. The first film had a cameo from a young Wendy. This one features a scene where Tink flies past Skull Rock and when she dons her adventure costume, her Pan-like hat has a red feather sticking out of it.

I thoroughly enjoy these films. No, they can't ever top Peter Pan, my favorite film of all time, but in my opinion they are much better than Return to Never Land. I like that Disney has been creative with their small addition to Never Land, Pixie Hollow. I really enjoy these characters and look forward to the next 3 films (maybe more, as John Lasseter hinted at a possible 6th film at the D23 Expo).

I find it extremely fun to spot Peter Pan references in the Tinker Bell series.... for example, Wendy's music box plays "You Can Fly!"

But, I sort of wonder if "Peter Pan" was the only Disney-cannon inspiration for the series. We have fairies whose main purpose in life is to change the seasons, which really wasn't a concept in "Peter Pan." However, that is why the fairies in "Fantasia" seem to exist. I wonder if this series could be somehow linking these two fairy mythologies in some way.... I don't know, it's just something interesting that I noticed.

I saw this movie last night by myself and then I saw it again with my Niece and we both enjoyed it! my four year old niece sat through the WHOLE movie. She loved it. I tried to put on the 1st Tinker Bell movie and she left the room not even 10 minutes into the movie lol. She also likes Demi's music video as well. So I must say this is a big upgrade from the first one! It has an actual story to it and everything to me fit perfect. Even the Trolls I liked because they showed Tink to forgive her friend. I am not going to spoil it lol. so yeah, I say this movie is 100% better than the first IMO. I cannot wait for the third one, the trailer looked great! :)

I agree. Even Renata Joy's review of the first Tinker Bell movie was pretty harsh as well.

I've read many reviews on this site and can agree that a lot of them are on the harsh side and even throw in over-generalizations. Sometimes, I think that the wrong critics are reviewing them.

For example, the individual who gave a glowing and positive review to the first High School Musical movie on DVD should've reviewed the later installments as well, instead of the folks that hate the franchise or don't understand it.

Please don't bash me. I'm just stating my open, honest opinions. That's all.

Yes, I've noticed that as well. Although I generally do enjoy reading UD's reviews, I do think plenty of them are a little harsh. I suppose everyone has different opinions....
Still, I think that with the Tink movies, it's kind of easy to say "well, they only exist to sell merch, because they're DTV and the animation isn't as good as Pixar's." Of course, that really isn't true. They really do seem to care about this film that they made, and with good reason. It isn't perfect, but it is very good.

I don't think that the review was harsh. He basically said that the movie is descent; entertaining but forgetabble which is the way i feel about the movie.

From the review:

"Lost Treasure is an improvement over the first movie, which is to say that it is moderately more enjoyable but pretty equally forgettable".

"Lost Treasure, is diverting enough and the characters likeable enough to make watching it a pretty harmless experience, but I doubt you'll remember much of what you saw three months from now".

I thought it was very memorable. I'd call it much better than "harmless" or "diverting enough." I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, I think it can be improved upon in future installments. However, it is much better than the UD review gives it credit for.

They are all opinions (both mine and yours) which are by definition subjective.

This is true. If opinions weren't subjective, our world would be a very bland place.

I'm going to pre-order this soon, but before I do does anyone know of any added extras that come with the film e.g. a lithiograph if you purchase from a speicifc store. Normally Play.com offers certain incentives for example with Snow White you get exclusive pop-up art cards, anyway I can't wait to own this! I loved the first movie, and from what I've seen and heard I have a feeling that this sequel will be even better! Also can't wait to see the preview for the third film, does anyone know if it's on YouTube, I can't find it if it is?

All I know is, that if you pre-ordered it from Disney.com you got some sort of backpack-clip thing. That's the only extra I was ever aware of...
Oh, and I believe it was Old Fish Tale who already posted a link to the trailer. It's probably a page or two back, just look. :D

Thanks for the heads up, though I checked the site and I think it must just be in the US never mind I'm still pre-ordering it soon. Duh I should have checked there lol! Ah wow the trailer looks really really good, I like how all of the fairies are very involved with it. I'm guessing just by the apperance of things in the trailer that the third movie takes place in the Summer? I'm really excited for Lost Treasure and I have a feeling that each installment will be better than the last at least that's the way it's looking. Is it just me or is the trailer for The Great Fairy Rescue make the film seem more closer to completion than the one for The Lost Treasure did on the original Tinker Bell DVD? Also some people were talking about how they liked that the series references Peter Pan, which I love also and hope that Mermaid Lagoon will make an apperance in one of the later installments, does anyone agree?

It would be great if Mermaid Lagoon appeared! There is something involving mermaids going on right now in the Pixie Hollow MMORPG.... hmmm...
Anyway, you mentioned that all the fairies seemed involved in the trailer. Well, didn't you notice probably the most shocking exclusion!? Terrence doesn't even appear!
