Poor Ariel. At least the shark never gets her. And I mean that shark never gets her. Is the shark dumb?
 Well, that "shark" would be the Jaws poster. I wouldn't say he's dumb, rather just stationary.

I know that it is Jaws. Say, didn't you have another Jaws avatar? I seem to think you did, but I'm not sure.

No matter how many times I see your avatar it still makes me laugh, I just keep expecting the shark to jump up and drag her down! She's playing a dangerous game :P .

I can't seem to stick with just one avatar. . .

I decided to go with a self-portrait I did (in the Kim Possible style) of how I looked in my senior year of high school (which was over ten years ago). This was originally done for a KP club at deviant:

If you look down at my banner you'll see it's similar to the more current self-portrait on the far right (also in the same style), but with the different hair and glasses of course.

I finally have an avatar to explain! Hooray!

Well actually, mine's pretty self-explanatory. It's Aladdin (dressed as Prince Ali) and Jasmine.

My newest avatar shows my name and the frost fairies from Fantasia.

I made it myself, and initially it was much nicer and eleborate, but I had to shorten it because of the file size. It was about 300Kb!

I now have 28 different avatars that will randomly pop up every time a page is loaded or refreshed:

Image

All of them are cropped from my own artwork except for the last two in the bottom row, the first of which was a cleaned up and modified screencap and the second was a drawing I colored which was originally given to me by a friend.

Last Monday, I used photoshop to put a few screencaps from "The Gargoyles" and my name together.

I put my Fantasia DVD in my PC DVD-Rom Drive, and took screenshots from the part of the frost fairy dance. I took an image for every three frames. I then reformatted the pics into 100 x 100 resolution. I made up four extra frames myself, with my name. You know, you have to stay tinkering with Paint, and changing the colours slowly, pixel, by pixel...

Then I converted every frame into static GIF format. I then used a program which I downloaded over the internet, called "Unfreeze". It is a free animated GIF maker. It's a very basic program, but it does its job.

When my GIF was ready, I tried uploading it into UD, but it was too big, about 300Kb.

I shortened the animation drastically, and reduced it to 110KB, but it was still too big.

Then I decided to LINK it to UD, so that it can be as big as necessary, but won't affect UD's bandwith, as it's not uploaded (at least I think that's how it works).

I then realized that I could link my previous more elaborate avatar to UD, but that one was so big, that I couldn't even host it on http://www.villagephotos.com. Let alone link it. That avatar was the same as my present one, but it had a much longer shot of the fairies. You could see them going round and skating over the ice. It was even made so that my name would blend seamlessly into it.

It was a lot of work for nothing, as now, because of the removed frames, my name doesn't blend in as I initially intended (and as it can be seen in the better avatar, which apparently, I will never be able to show because of its size).

So I hosted my present avatar on Village Photos.com It's handier to link avatars than to upload them to UD, because they can have a larger filesize. And I think that's the same reason people like DisneyChris or (sometimes) 2099net have avatars whch exceed 100x100 pixels resolution, probably because they're linked.

PS: enigmawing, I think your random avatar concept is really cool! :) It's also good, as we can get snippets of your pretty and stylized artwork whenever we want. 8)

Hey! I animated Rapunzel's eyelids!!

But converting each frame to GIF format is making them all look very grainy. Does anyone know how to prevent this? :(
