Wow both Sierra and Sherie sound awesome! I like how the score is still generally the same but they've just been enhanced a little heh. I do plan on seeing this, but probably not for a while since I'm dead broke lol. Broadway Ariel looks amazing! A lot better then I imagined. It makes my excitment on seeing this go up cause I'm curious to see how the other characters are dressed.
Thank you for posting ChrisLyne and The Little Merboy!

The Little Mermaid on Broadway
Thank you for the "Kiss the Girl" picture, it looks marvelous! Love the boat and waves that the boat floats on, how novel! I like the new, more realistic attire for Ariel and the Prince, but shouldn't Ariel's bodice be black, or very dark blue, not red? I'm thinking of the movie, and let's not pretend the costumes aren't supposed to be based on the movie's.
Anyway, I can't believe "Beyond My Wildest Dreams" is your favorite song Little Merboy, because it sounds like it goes all over the place, dips unusually low to sing for a happy, excited song, and is too interrupted by awkward Wow!s. I like alot of it, but those problems I mentioned prevent me from considering it a suitable song. Also, she still says, "Oh my God", which was discussed earlier as something Ariel would not say, as she is more cutesy and innocent and would say "Oh my gosh", like when she finds the dingehopper in the ship in the movie.

Re: The Little Mermaid on Broadway
Yeah, Ariel's day dress is completely new. But in a good way, it's very cute. That is also when Ariel starts wearing her hair parted down the middle, which I am still biased on. At least I got the signature "wave" bang in the 1st Act, and the beginning of Act Two.Disney Duster wrote:but shouldn't Ariel's bodice be black, or very dark blue, not red? As for "Beyond My Wildest Dreams." I simply love it, the whole expirence helped alot too. When I first heard the demo, my heart melted. Because, in the movie, after Ariel is mute, she is just that, mute. But in the musical, they worked in a new song for her. Explaining all her excitement, and letting her explain it. In her mind, which I just love. And I think the song is just too cute! I love it
The guy on YouTube is only uploading by request now. I requested "She's In Love" & "Beyond My Wildest Dreams." If any one else does, I suggest Sierra Boggess - The World Above.

Variety pans "The Little Mermaid" in their review...

Can't say I'm too shocked from what I've seen of the show / heard of the book. Glad to hear Sherie Rene Scott and Norm Lewis' abs are great, though. I wounder if they'll bother trying to work out the kinks or just pull a "Tarzan" and make very few changes then take it to Broadway where it will get the same reviews it did beforehand.

I'm kind of on the fence with Sherie. She sounds fabulous in "I Want The Good Times Back," but horrible in "Poor Unfortunate Souls." She turned Pat Carroll's cunning and awe-inspiring performance into an overdramatic joke. Or maybe it's just because I've never heard "I Want The Good Times Back" performed by Pat Carroll. Plus, some of her lines fell flat (like "eating caviar before it hatches!").
And I've been wondering why this show still has Scuttle? I mean, if they cut the Vanessa storyline, it devoids the character of any point (since he warned Ariel about Ursula's disguise and saved her time). Which brings another question to my mind, where was Scuttle in the climax of the movie (when Ursula becomes gigantic)?
I, personally, would think it best if Chef Louie and Scuttle were dropped from the show entirely. They add nothing and would be far less comical on stage than in the movie anyway.
