I'm looking forward to Frozen, too, but everybody is free to give their opinion on the film once they've seen it, be it positive or negative.
Sorry, I got carried away.

Just got home from seeing the movie guys. It was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Loved every second :)

Feel free to ask for spoilers/details if you want, I guess. I'll answer sometime tomorrow...we did a lot of driving to and from to get to the screening, so I'm headed right to bed.

BTW the music is excellent, especially the score, holy shit.

Best song?
Were the visuals lackluster or amazing?
Rating on a scale from 1-10?
How was Kristoff's reindeer voice?
Fave moment?
How was the opening song?
How was the ending?
Best climax scene?
Hans, awesome or tool?

I don't really care about this or not but do you think it could win best animated feature?

Boy do I have a truck load of questions for you.

How did the audience react to certain moments in the movie?
How are the songs and do they hold up with Disney's best?
What did you think of Kristen Anderson-Lopez's work on Frozen's lyrics?
Is there a Disney choir in the finale or is it an orchestral reprise of a song? (Like "If I Never Knew You" from Pocahontas)
Where do you rank this movie in your favorite Disney movie list?
Is the movie's story done well and paced well?
How are the characters in the movie and how did you like Anna and Elsa as characters?
What was your favorite song?
What was your favorite scene and what scene got the most emotional response?
Is Olaf a good sidekick or a meh one?
What did you think of Hans?
Is the art direction by Mike Giaimo really amazing as it looks?
Does this movie take time to develop the romance between Kristoff and Anna?
Is the scene where: Hans and the guards fight Marshmallow and Hans defeats him in it?

And my final question is this: Is it better than the previous 5 Disney movies of recent memory and can it hold up to the Renaissance era?

I overheard a Frozen ad while browsing at KMart today.

It was for a sweepstakes contest for those who shop and buy at least $50 in Disney items. The ad had Olaf as part of it.

Lukewarm opinions time:
So I saw Frozen tonight - non-spoiler opinion
I was fortunate enough to see an advance screening of Frozen tonight. No spoilers - just opinions.

I liked it!

It wasn’t the best movie since The Lion King, but it was still enjoyable. Personally, I think it could’ve used another script revision before it went into production - I think it tried too hard to do too many things. However, the story with Anna and Elsa was solid, there were plot twists that absolutely blindsided me, and it did a few very good things I was not expecting. Overall, I’d say it was a 6.5 or 7 out of ten.

Get a Horse, the short at the beginning, was worth the price of admission and then some. Even if you’re lukewarm about the movie, go see the movie just to see Get a Horse. Hot damn.

And…Olaf. I know everyone is side-eyeing Olaf pretty hard, and I’m going to blame American marketing for that because damn does American marketing make him unpalatable. Overall, though, he was actually pretty funny! He gets a stunningly mediocre song when he’s introduced, but after that he becomes a side character who actually has some pretty well-timed one liners. He doesn’t steal the scene from the other characters, and he’s not nearly as bad as the marketing makes him out to be.

So yes, bottom line, go see Frozen. It’s a good time, and even if you’re not thrilled by the movie, Get A Horse is well worth the price of admission.

Also, stay after the credits. The stinger is a hoot.

Sooo I just got back from an early screening of ‘Frozen!’ Considering how much chatter has been going around tumblr on that movie, thought I’d give my (really rather spoilery) thoughts below the cut…

NO REALLY THERE’S SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT JUST FAIR WARNING

In no particular order, here we go!

- Okay the short was friggin’ hilarious. Gag-a-second Mickey Mouse cartoon stuff done in 30’s oldschool style, only then it throws an unexpected twist at you and gets even funnier. Seeing the short in the theater is worth the price of your ticket in a few ways it was better than the actual feature

- The movie itself was, all in all, just fine! It was about what I was expecting…nothing groundbreaking-amazing, but not horrendous, either. The standard Disney fare of funny, touching, and high production values on the art.

- That said, it probably could’ve stood another script revision. And also for them to not be lazy with the character design. Sorry, but all that business about making the lead women look the same does still bug me. Like, when they’re little kids you can tell Elsa and Anna are about 4-5 years apart. And then when they’re grown up they look the same age?? All womens look the same kind of pretty? ??

- In the production as a whole, you can tell they were trying waaay too hard to Disneyland-ify everything. WHAT CAN WE MAKE A RIDE OUT OF. HOW ABOUT CHARACTER MEET AND GREET. OKAY WHAT’S GOING ON THE SNACK CUPS. Also, it’s strange to say this about Disney, but too many songs. I love me some musicals, but this was TRYING SO HARD TO MUSICAL. They easily could’ve cut three of those songs, and a reprise or two.

- Of the songs they did give us, the ones I did really enjoy were the opening song (but I have a real thing for opening songs in Disney movies) and ‘Let It Go.’ I’d have to watch again to see if any more songs grow on me.

- Olaf was fine. He didn’t make or break the movie either way for me, and he did have a lot of great comedic timing. There was really no reason to put him front and center in terms of American marketing, but yeah, no real complaints about Olaf. His song was one of the ones they could’ve cut though. Although I wish they’d done a little more with Kristoff and Sven’s ‘conversations.’

- W O W I actually totally did not see that face heel turn coming from Hans, the sideburn guy that Anna falls in love with instantly. I figured they would do an Enchanted deal and have him end up hooking up with Elsa, BUT NOOOPE, JUST STRAIGHT-UP EVIL. They were pretty good about giving little to no hints on that front, so GOOD JOB THERE. Very nice use of misdirection, and made him seem like a real threat there at the end.

- Speaking of, okay, the one thing I think actually redeemed the movie for me was the ending. I was sitting there going “Oh please don’t do the thing please don’t do the thing THANK GOD THEY DIDN’T DO THE THING.” Like you know how at the end of ‘Pacific Rim’ you’re sitting there going “please don’t kiss please don’t kiss please don’t—YES BONDS OTHER THAN ROMANTIC THANK YOU!!!” This ending was that exact feeling over again. So Anna has her heart frozen by Elsa, and can only thaw it with an act of true love. She figures she can go kiss Hans for this; nope, he turns out to be evil. So then she tries for Kristoff who’s the real love interest anyway, but just as they’re about to reach each other, she sees Hans about to kill Elsa. And Anna goes and sacrifices herself to save Elsa’s life, and it’s her own act of love for her sister that breaks the spell. YES. GOOD. NICE.

- Really, the relationship between the sisters was the backbone of the movie, and I think it would’ve been a lot stronger as a whole if they’d remained more focused on that than meandering off into how many things we can remodel at Disneyland. That relationship was definitely where all the heart and drama was.

- Oh also, the ice designs and effects were really cool; beautiful stuff to look at. Some animators had a lot of fun with that.

- So, all in all? Decent enough Disney fare, fun and dramatic, but didn’t really try out new things the way Wreck-It Ralph did. Good story made better by a terrific and satisfying ending, but made worse by Trying Too Hard and also Fuck You Disney Marketing.

- But that short was lolarious; seriously, go see that.

Why can't Disney release the soundtrack early as a store exclusive?

I just have one nitpick about that second review... little kids who are a few years apart look very different, adults a few years apart, not so much. An 18 year old and a 21 year old, like Anna and Elsa can look the same age and that is totally normal. Anyways, I do think Elsa looks a bit older than Anna in the movie.

After seeing this video I got so excited so I did some research. Willemijn Verkaik, the one singing the song in the video, is going to do the voice of Elsa in the German AND the Dutch version! That is so awesome.

For those of you who don't know her, Willemijn Verkaik is best know for portraying Elphaba in Wicked in FOUR countries in THREE different languages. She originated the role in Germany and here in The Netherlands and also played Elphaba on Broadway. She's currently preparing to play the role on West End in London.

I saw her live and she is so amazing! So glad they picked her!

Also, now I'm wondering how many countries are getting ex-Elphaba's as their Elsa.

This. And regarding them looking similar... well, they do look a little different and in defense of the designers, they are sisters.

The most negative critique so far comes from animator/director (and Academy member) Michael Sporn.
Michael Sporn wrote:I was able to switch up my plans to see FROZEN in a theater. It hurt badly. It’s the worst Disney feature I've seen in ages. I won't get into it, but trust me on this one. It’s a horrible attempt to make a long-form feature. I had to walk out at the 2/3 mark. The drawing wasn't all that was wrong. Acting, coloring, songs. It’s a mess. I’ll go a little deeper (but not by much) at another time. See the Miyazaki film a second time instead. Here’s to something better – anything.
