Sotiris, do you think Vanellope should be in the Disney Princess line. If Merida can get in "No love intrest" then Vanellope should be in as well. Both represent the "Modern Princess".

I think neither Merida nor Vanellope should join the Disney Princess line because Merida is a Pixar character and Vanellope is just a child. All the princesses so far are from films produced by WDAS and they are either teenagers or adults.

I agree that Merida being from Pixar shouldn't be included, but Vanellope is a Princess regardless of age. She's more a princess than Cinderella, Belle & Tiana. They had to marry a Prince to gain their royalty, but Vanellope is the rightful ruler of the Sugar Rush kingdom. Notice how all the dolls & stuff of Vanellope, NONE of them are of her in her princess attire. If they release a doll of her in her princess attire say next year, when the film is release worldwide, we'll see were it goes.

I think that Merida should be in it b/c she's Pixar and the right age to join. Plus, she has a strong character and story. But, I think Vanellope shouldn't be in it at all b/c a) she's only a kid and b) she pretty much rejected the Princess title for President. :D Plus, didn't they say at first that she was the QUEEN? I think it'll be too weird to see her in the lineup, but actually kinda cool too.

But she abdicated her throne so technically she's no longer a princess.

FROM http://fancysomedisneymagic.tumblr.com/ ... l-princess:
PRINCESS ANNA WILL JOIN THE OFFICIAL PRINCESS COURT

I know we have heard about this already, but there is new intel! Merida (voiced by Kelly MacDonald) was the last princess to join the Disney Princess Club, but she will have her official ceremony just like Rapunzel did. It will take place during the first months of 2013, in Scotland.

Then, a few months later, on November 27th to be exact, Disney’s Frozen will be released. Anna is the sister of the Snow Queen and has to go in a quest to find Elsa and free the kingdom from a freezing curse. It been confirmed that she will be the twelfth official Disney princess. So as it appears to be a trend, she might get an official ceremony too. Wonder where it would be.

Brave has been playing very well at a local discount theatre. Though it came out on video a couple weeks ago, it's still been playing on screens since mid-September, outlasting many other summer films.

Finally saw Brave last night (rented it from Redbox). I was prepared that it might not be great considering the lukewarm reviews. That said, I’m surprised by how indifferent I was to this movie. I think it only compares to ABL and Cars to me (although the former is probably better). I wasn’t crazy about Up or WALL E, but I enjoyed those more than this.

The only real positives I can come up with: Elinor’s mannerisms while as a bear are hilarious--the best part of the film. The witch scene is probably my favorite overall scene (particularly when the knives start flipping back and forth between the two). I really like Merida’s design, but she looks best as a child (as seen in the first 5 min.). I enjoyed the back-to-back scene with Merida and Elinor complaining about one another, and how both came to understand one another more in the salmon scene and the Merida’s decision scene (although heavy-handed to me).

I honestly enjoyed La Luna more than Brave. Really nice short.

1. Toy Story 3
2. The Incredibles
3. Monster’s, Inc.
4. Toy Story 2
5. Toy Story
6. Ratatouille
7. Finding Nemo
8. WALL E
9. Up
10. A Bug’s Life
11. Brave
12. Cars (I just realized I haven’t seen the sequel…)

I agree. Brave was such a disappointment. For a film claiming to be reinventing the fairy tale genre, it was nothing but an amalgam of contrived plot points and trite elements of previous fairy tale films from start to finish executed poorly and unimaginatively.

And yet Brave has grossed $535,170,602 worldwide!! Pixar proved with Brave that they can release a bad film & it will still make over half a billion at the BO! And with a prequeal to MI next summer, I have no intrest in anything Pixar is doing over the next 2 years. Disney's Frozen, just the secrecy of that film, Big Hero 6, the first Marvel animated film & Ron & John's film, an original film not based off a franchise or book.

What would you rather see next year: Monsters University or Frozen?
What would you rather see in 2014: The Good Dinosaur or Big Hero 6/Ron & John's film? To me, I think The Good Dinosaur will be a merchandise replacement for Cars.

I'm probably looking forward to Frozen a little bit more than Monsters University but I'm excited for both films. I'm not going to judge MU just yet because it's a prequel, I thought Monsters, Inc. was an excellent film with an entertaining cast of characters and I expect the same of MU.

As for 2014, personally I'm more excited to see The Good Dinosaur than Big Hero 6 (if it is actually released in 2014). I like the concept of The Good Dinosaur and I think Bob Peterson is a very talented and funny director so I have pretty high expectations for the film. The Big Hero 6 comic doesn't really scream "Disney adaptation" so I'm curious to see what WDAS' take on it might be but I look forward to it as I do all WDAS films (if and when it is released).

One thing I don't agree with is that The Good Dinosaur is a merchandise replacement for Cars. What gives you that impression? Given Big Hero 6 is a Marvel comic and Disney love Marvel merchandise (as evidenced by the fact that nearly every Disney Store is heavily stocked with Marvel stuff these days), BH6 seems a lot more of an obvious merchandise seller to me. As much as kids love dinosaurs, Cars is a merchandise juggernaut and The Good Dinosaur doesn't strike me as a film that has obvious huge merchandise potential on the scale of Cars or the Toy Story films.

Big Hero 6 may not come out in 2014, it could be Ron & Johns's original film. Disney has an Untitled animated film for November 7, 2014, so it's either anyone of those. As for merchandise, it's pretty obvious that lots of dinosaur toys & stuff will be made from The Good Dinosaur. Big Hero 6 is not well know by the mainstream, it's not the Avengers, it's not X-men. Disney will have a harder time trying to sell Big Hero 6 merchandise than Pixar selling Dinosaur stuff. Both Toy Story & Cars have been around for years now & I see Pixar taking full avantage of the merchandise potential for Dinosuar. And speaking of merchandise, Frozen will go all out next year! Not only a new princess in Anna but a new villian who could be on par with malifacent & The Queen from Snow White.

We'll have to wait and see if/when both films gets released but I still think Big Hero 6 has more merchandise potential than The Good Dinosaur. Apart from Toy Story and Cars, and too a lesser extent Finding Nemo, I can't remember seeing a lot of merchandise for other Pixar films; I don't recall lots of Monsters, Inc. or The Incredibles or Up merchandise in shops but maybe others did. Given that pretty much every Disney Store has lots of Marvel merchandise available, Big Hero 6 just seems to have more potential in that regard. True it's not The Avengers or X-Men but if the film does get released I can see Disney playing up the Marvel ties to attract those fans to the film. It's all a matter of opinion but I look forward to The Good Dinosaur and seeing what Disney might do with Big Hero 6.

Pocahontas also did well piggybacking on The Lion King, I believe.

I'm more interested in Disney both years--but other than Toy Story sequels, I have little interest in Pixar. Monster's, Inc. is the one film that I would say should never have any kind of continuation (prequel or not), and it just feels hollow without Boo in it. Frozen wins for that reason with me, just because I'll more enjoy witnessing the Snow Queen trainwreck. Big Hero 6 sounds more interesting to me than a film with dinosaurs, tbh. Throw Musker and Clements' names in the mix (if they are going to be behind the film), and I'm all in.
but a new villian who could be on par with malifacent & The Queen from Snow White.
That's not going to happen. Despite the plot changes to the character of the Snow Queen, I wouldn't have even held my breath anyway after Gothel and Facilier were both underwhelming in face of so much potential.
