And cue a thousand "yay, it's on" posts, followed by a dash of "hand-drawn vs CG" debate, followed by a quote from an anonymous poster on a blog implying it could possibly be off again, followed by a thousand "noooo, it's off" posts, followed by a few comments along the lines of "Lasseter is a complete [insert expletive], Disney are money making misers!", followed by a dozen reactions and ensuing debate over that comment, followed by an implication it's on again...

;)

Or are you solely basing your opinion on the Cars franchise?
I'm not a fan of most of those films at all, minus a few. But Bolt.....? I'd rather watch Cinderella II.......
The Bolt hatred among some Disney fans is so ridiculous. Some people pretend as if it was as bad as Chicken Little. Seriously, wtf. Watch it again please.

And I would like to declare some sort of blasphemy for even mentioning the mere existence of Cinderella II. That movie needs to go on some kind of black list.

That's basically this entire thread in a nutshell.

That's basically any thread on a movie still in pre-production.

It's still better than repeating what's been said about older movies or coupon posts for re-releases.

This forum has been operating for many years, so obviously things can get repetitious, but discussing and anaylsing older movies is much more fun (at least in my eyes) than waiting for someone to post another link that makes the possibility of Snow Queen's continuation even more vague.

Today Mark Henn is still at the Disney studio and has recently animated 2D pencil tests for the CG animators to use on the Snow Queen as well as now is working on another upcoming Disney film.

How he could possibly know that is beyond me. He's a high school kid.

Perhaps he heard it or read it from somewhere and just didn't provide a source. He doesn't provide any sources for his posts but from reading some of his entries the information given seems legit.

If he hadn't read it from somewhere he could have just said the generic "he's working on an upcoming Disney film" but the animation tests thing he said is pretty specific.

Just because someone is in high school or doesn't work in the animation industry, doesn't mean it's not possible to find out information like this.

Oh I know, and I agree that he's incredibly intelligent and all of his posts are great... I just kind of have a feeling that the only way he might know something that specific is because he was told by one of the animators he is in touch with... possibly Mark Henn himself. In which case, I would assume he was told something like that in confidence, and since we've yet to hear any official peep about Snow Queen, I don't think he should be saying things like that.

Regardless though, it's good to know!

Come on. It's no big deal. We already knew from reliable sources that Snow Queen was back in development at Disney as a CG film. Besides, he didn't reveal how or from whom he gained this information so no harm done.

Hmm.... judging by what I'm reading, I'm assuming the guys at Disney are trying to shoot for a painterly look that Tangled (known before as Rapunzel) was originally gonna have.

Is that how it is? :?

No. These hand-drawn animation tests are usually used for reference to help CG artists animate human characters better. It's not an indicator of a 'painterly' look.

In a hurry as I went out the door, I posted a message for a different thread on this one. I guess I should have left it until I came back.

Hopefully we can get a good Snow Queen, would be nice to have a hand drawn with Alan Menken's musical talents.

In the professional animation industry, it is a big deal. Artists sign non-disclosure forms, ensuring that information that has not been announced will not be leaked. Chances are that if the pencil-test bit was already out somewhere, somebody on one of the sites all of us follow would find it. But since it hasn't been, I would assume he has some other source. Let's say it WAS Mark Henn who mentioned this to him. In that situation, it would have been told to him in confidence, because regardless of the reliable sources that have already told us that Snow Queen is already in production, there has been no word whatsoever from any official source, and so the artists are still under that non-disclosure agreement.

I know it's really not that big of a deal, and like I said, it's good to know. But as someone who is obviously passionate about becoming a Disney animator, moreso than anyone I've ever met going through animation school... I mean, his knowledge of Disney animation is greater than probably a lot of Disney animators... I just wouldn't want to see him say something that he shouldn't and in turn get in trouble with those people he looks up to so much. That's all.

Well, they should at least TRY to do a CGI movie and give it a hand-drawn feel. In other words, a painterly look. Not just using hand-drawn for reference.

... You know what I mean.

Well, if we're lucky we'll get something along the lines of Tangled visual-wise. Is that good enough for you?

Well, to be honest, I felt that Tangled felt sort of painterly, and yet, not entirely.

I'm not sure if this has already been posted, forgive me if it has, but it's the first time I've seen it... this is supposedly a demo song from a while back of broadway actor Brian D'Arcy James singing "Love Can't Be Denied" from this very movie.
