I think you'd either have to be a Disney employee or a secret agent to see them.Disneydood wrote:Yep, i meant the ten minutes Katzenberg deleted that were actually fully animated (which, as anyone who knows how animation works knows, is the most horrifying concept imaginable). So it sounds like they are not to be found on this new release, darn.

But seriously, I hope those scenes weren't destroyed.

Well, i dont think the Black Cauldron is the only one with that problem of nobody knowing whatever became of deleted scenes.. Im on this one Land Before Time forum and i've heard things about deleted scenes from the first movie and nobody knows if those scenes are still in tact or not..DisneyJedi wrote:I think you'd either have to be a Disney employee or a secret agent to see them.Disneydood wrote:Yep, i meant the ten minutes Katzenberg deleted that were actually fully animated (which, as anyone who knows how animation works knows, is the most horrifying concept imaginable). But i hope they haven't been 'Destroyed'! Although if they have been destroyed, how come we are able to see those pictures when we look them up?

I just received this DVD today (yes, I know it's 2 weeks early), and I'm a little underwhelmed with the packaging. Usually the animated movies come in a nifty slipcover, but no such thing here. They do make a note on the back cover that it's printed on recycled paper, so maybe that's why they ditched the slip cover.
But if anyone else do spot a slip cover somewhere, let me know

I think the pictures you are referring to are the actual production cels that went up for sale or auction (I think), and that is where we all saw the images of the guard being "dissolved by the mist" or something like that. In other words, they were the original artwork used in production of the movie, and not stills from the finished production.Kraken Guard wrote:Although if they have been destroyed, how come we are able to see those pictures when we look them up?
Only 2 weeks until the US release!

It sounds like he was joking in a way, but a slipcover-less DVD in my whole collection WITH slipcovers looks retarded. Some people don't care about slipcovers, some think they are worthless, some (like me) think they make the DVD packaging and their personal collection look nicer.DisneyJedi wrote:Does it really matter if there's a slip cover or not?
It's just weird that Disney randomly decides this release won't have a slipcover after all these years of them giving a slipcover to every release.

It's a "piece of crap" case that fails to protect the data side of the DVD, where the protection needs to be - this is referring to those cases that have the cutouts on the back covers.Heartless wrote:It's an eco case, yes.Barbossa wrote:And we're likely to get one of those cheap "less plastic" DVD cases no doubt.
Technically it says its an "Eco Box" inside the case.
So it's one of these cases:

That's a shame
I mean, I am all for preserving resources, but these cuts are probably more likely done with the intent to increase the profit margin instead of saving the rainforest. And, in the end, the customer rarely sees the benefit, like a lower price, and instead pays them same price for less of a product.
I guess we could always switch out the case with a regular one if we really wanted to. It seems so easy to accidentally puncture the paper or the plastic sleeve in the areas that aren't backed by the plastic case.

MJW, the case isn't quite that drastic. It uses a thinner plastic than we are used to and has the recycling symbol on the left hand side, but nothing is cut out of it. The only studio I've received a cut out eco case from so far has been Fox.

I wish this would hurry up and be released to major stores in the US so we can solve this slipcover mystery. I would really like a slipcover for this release because the cover art is beautiful and it would look awesome and shiny.
