I hate when you guys do this. If my friends enjoy Full Screen, I'm not going to get them anything else. They know that they're missing parts of the picture, and since they aren't manic movie watchers, they really couldn't care less.Escapay wrote:Ye gods! It's the curse of the fullscreen!

My Mom frequently purchases FS DVDs for me, and honestly I'm beginning not to care. She said that if and when we get a Widescreen television for the edition we are putting onto our house, and I still really enjoy the movie(s) in question, she'll have no problem trading them in for WS copies.

I agree whole heartedly. We have a widescreen TV in our living room, but I don't get to watch movies in there very often. I usually try to buy DVDs in widescreen, but if I can't find it in that aspect ratio (Target is really bad about this), I'll purchase it in fullscreen. I'd rather have that than nothing! The Little Merman wrote:I hate when you guys do this. If my friends enjoy Full Screen, I'm not going to get them anything else. Stuff I've Bought

The Mighty Boosh Live [Region 2]
The Boosh is loose and it's coming at you like a typhoon with the flu! You are unlikely to find a more laid-back comedy show than this insane 2.5 hours of shenanigans. Possibly going to be completely lost on anybody that is not familar with The Boosh. Largely adapting scenes from the first two seasons of the show, adding a few surprises along the way, it is definitely a fun and random show. Love it!

The League of Gentlemen Are Behind You [Region 2]
Love the League, and are largely responsible for my reintroduction to Brit comedy. (Along with Netty, of course). The first half of this feels a little stale, largely due to it having been 'done before', but the panto bit is pure genius. The crowd seem more receptive too.

So Dear to My Heart [Region 2]
Finally broke down and bought this, as I have never seen it! Used the opportunity of buy other UK discs...
Review Discs

Kenny [Region 4]
This was a bit of a surprise. Turned up out of the blue after having already received a huge box of review discs. I guess this is one they were really wanting to plug, because I got the full-on press kit with it. So I quickly banged out a review and posted it here.

My Name Is Earl - Season One [Region 4]
Got this one as a review disc set. Been looking forward to watching them ever since I saw the first episode in the US last year. It has played here in Oz, but I always seemed to miss it somehow.
Other bits and bobs include:
- Arrested Development - Season 3
- Boston Legal - Season 1
- Book of Revelation
- Red Dwarf: Just the Shows V - VIII
- Oliver Twist (Roman Polanski's)
The last few were all freebies as review discs too.

Thank you Prince Ali. Honestly, I'd love to see all of these picky buyers's reactions when they have to watch a film that has an aspect ration of 2.35:1 on a 13" television.Prince Ali wrote:I agree whole heartedly. I do it 2 or 3 times a week when I watch a movie on my bedroom player and TV at night. Its really no big deal. The Little Merman wrote:Thank you Prince Ali. Besides, if a film is made 4:3 by opening the matte (such as most of The Abyss or Terminator 2, or most TV sourced discs etc), the images aren't any bigger anyway. They just fill up the rest of the screen with unneeded head and foot room.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Thank you Escapay. Thank you. Thank you. I will always choose WS even on my hand-me-down 19" 4:3 TV. Next year is the year for the 50"+ flat panel, but for now, I will still watch WS on the small one.Escapay wrote:It's just a matter of perspectiveThe Little Merman wrote:Honestly, I'd love to see all of these picky buyers's reactions when they have to watch a film that has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 on a 13" television.
