The format seems intentionally similar to the Looney Tunes Golden Collection. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing something like this actually happen, but I prefer the chronological nature most of the Treasures sets had. Still, it's a nice selection of cartoons and new/existing bonus features.

I'm also working on my own set of cartoon shorts DVDs the likes of which would blow away the Treasures set. It would work, I think. It's been especially designed for Blu-Ray. I'm told that those can hold nine hours or so of content per disc, so it should be do able. Right now, it's a work in progress, but I'll put it up soon...

The only reason I thought of "Have a Laugh" was because of something for today's audiences. And I thought of a lot of MMW/HOM shorts because they have a bunch of Donald-themed shorts on The Chronological Donald 4. And speaking of whom, Mickey was Volume 1 of the series; guess who will be Volume 2.Mickeyfan1990 wrote:Now that's a cartoon set! But I don't think Have A Laugh should be included as it's just a waste. I would instead add Mickey's Cartoon Comeback featurette 2 or 3 Mickey Mouse Work/House Of Mouse Shorts (including my favorite, Mickey's Cabin). Aside from that, a job well done.
But I guess I could go back and cut out the Have a Laugh stuff. It just seemed like a good idea at the time...

Additional things I would have are additional bonus shorts: "Pluto and the Armadillo", "The Pelican and the Snipe" and "For Whom the Bulls Toil". And for good measure, how about including "Walt and El Groupo"?zackisthewalrus wrote: Saludos Amigos/The Three Caballeros

I would call these sets "Music Land" (after a compilation release of both "Make Mine Music" and "Melody Time" in 1955) and "South of the Border With Donald Duck" (because both "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros" have Donald in Latin America), respectively.
Regarding (DAC) disney blu-ray we basically have:
Available
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- Pinocchio
- Sleeping Beauty
- Beauty and the Beast
- Dinosaur (Debatable)
- Chicken Little
- Meet the Robinsons
- Bolt
- Princess and the Frog
Announced as part of the Diamond Line
- Cinderella
- 101 Dalmations
- Peter Pan
- The Lion King
- Bambi
- The Little Mermaid
- The Jungle Book
- Lady and the Tramp
Other DAC's announced
- Alice in Wonderland
- Dumbo
- Fantasia + Fantasia 2000 Combo (November 30 Release Date)
No Idea what's happening with
- 29/50 Films
11/50 Will have been released by the end of 2010
16/51 Will have been released by the end of 2011 (Tangled's Release)
6/51 Will be released throughout 2016 and 2 will be re-released
So by approximately the end of 2011 only 31% of DAC would have been released. And that's only the DAC's. What's going on with all the Live-Action movies prior 2000's? Or the shorts? Or anything else for that matter?
Warner Brothers, Sony or any other production company have already released a majority of their content on Blu-ray. Now I understand that Disney might not want to rush anything like with Disney DVD's, but quite a number of films already have a great DVD transfer. Not to mention silly DVD releases such as The Black Cauldron, Oliver and Co., Alice in Wonderland were basically a waste of time without a Blu-Ray copy...
As a fanbase already of you know that we're getting pretty ripped off by Disney in terms of quantity and although the recent efforts of Beauty and the Beast were not taken for granted, that was the only major blu-ray release we've had all year. Quite frankly I believe all the animated films Disney has released over the years are deserving of better treatment and i'm so sick of hearing about The Lion King, or Beauty and the Beast. We understand they're great, amazing films. But please do not focus all your energy and time on three or four films and snub the rest of them off...[/b]

BDF, you've been warned about plagiarism many times before. Even if it's just a silly "let's make up our own DVDs & Blu-Rays" thread, plagiarism is still frowned upon. How many times does someone have to tell you NOT to plagiarize another person's format or choice of words? You already had a format yourself, as past entries here can show. Why did you suddenly decide to steal zackisthewalrus' format (which he used on two entries, as he has that right to since it's his) and words?Big Disney Fan wrote:Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Presents

That's still no excuse for plagiarizing his words, simply to "finish what got started." Why not let zackisthewalrus finish what *he* started instead? Even if it was something from August, it's still *his*, not yours.Big Disney Fan wrote:Well, I was just trying to finish what got started. I kept hoping it might get finished, but it never did.

Backtrack about thirteen pages or so, Coolmanio. You'll see why plagiarism is such an issue in this thread, and with BDF in particular.Coolmanio wrote:Interesting. I never thought of plagiarism as an issue in forums, but it must peeve people off that put effort into their thoughts.
If you edit your original post and give credit to the formatting to zackisthewalrus, the problem goes away.
My "Ultimate" DVD for Fantasia
compared to
BDF's "Ultimate" DVD for Fantasia
The sheer amount of plagiarism he did of my words led to a lot of ugliness in the thread and a few months later the drama returned (even leading to BDF starting a now-locked thread where he basically says it's okay to plagiarize in his "Ultimate" DVD thread). Since then, this thread has become a joke and only a shell of its former self.
