It doesn't specify online, but I saw the set at the store and I'm pretty sure it's a Target exclusive.Disney Villain wrote:Thank You so much for posting this find! Where did you get the doll set? I can't find it anywhere (online).

a long time ago...
...in a land called holly-wierd, a magical art department helmed by an experienced staffer made sure its budding artists were guided to draw consistant princesses. Classes were held, model kits were made up, and lo, the princesses became consistant and well drawn.
But Lo, the gods of OUTSOURCE and FREELANCE waved their magic scepters , and the department vanished! As artists now jumped from job to job (hundreds of them bidding for each short-lived opening), some forgot what they learned, while others kept the magic of making princesses look like princesses.
Case in point; the ad in PRINCESS magazine has a splash page and DVD illustration within the ad. Aurora maintains her facial features and is well drawn, though her angular curves soften under the new dress (I suspect the artists simply repasted the head on top of the new dress body. Jasmine goes from well drawn (DVD illustration) to much different (especially the eyes).
Keep in mind it is very hard to keep these characters consistent (Cinderella III's Cindy varies a LOT despite major efforts to keep her on model), and that many artists and consumers have trouble remembering which Princess is WHICH !
And frankly, do the young'uns that play and watch these things actually __see__ the differences and say "Momee, that lady doesn't look like Cindy any more !" ?

I uploaded the 3 Music Videos from the Sneak Peek DVD that came with the Aurora and Phillip Doll set. I have soooo many comments, but i'm too tired..so i'll post my thoughts in the morning. And oh, you guys thought Aurora's voice is bad....HA wait until you hear Belle it's not Paige or Susan...it's well an imposter!!!!! Realize though that the Aurora and Jasmine segments say "follow your dreams" while the Belle segment says "kingdom of kindness--coming soon to DVD". You can't tell from my video, but the Belle animation is so much better then the others, and it ovbiously follows the "kingdom of kindness" story(where chip gets into trouble because he let a frog into the beasts room...or something like that..i forget). Dont mind spelling errors i am VERY VERY tired. Enjoy the video!!!

Yes, Belle looks nice! Thanks, Disney Villain!

Thanks for the clip, Disney Villain! The Belle segment really does seem to have better animation than Aurora's or Jasmine's. I love how they even had that loose strand of hair that's always by Belle's forehead, just like in the original. It's nice to see, well, hear Angela Lansbury back. While that's most definitely not Paige O'Hara (singing, anyway), this change doesn't bother me as much as Aurora's, probably because Aurora has a much deeper voice than Belle. Hopefully this story will appear in full in a Volume Two of this series.

I'm really shocked that it isnt Paige doing the singing voice! She is speaking the part, why not include her singing? If they were going to do that, why not replace her all together with Susan Egan, or at least have Susan doing her singing voice. I wonder how Paige feels, now that Disney have presumably replaced her as the sining voice of her own charater! But we know Susan is still singing Belle, as she is doing a new CD of Disney Princess movie, based around the theme of 'Birthdays'. So I really have no clue why they have done this!
But, the new voice is actually not bad! Considering the awful new voices they have sometimes used, this is not too bad. But she is no Paige or Susan.
I would love to know Darth Deto's opinion on this, as he is the biggest Belle fan I know!

Waves to Atlantica.
I don't think the vocals sound bad, but I think the speaking voice would be more recognisable. Paige has that lovely little catch in her voice, that I would imagine would be difficult for anyone to copy.
But I suppose we can't expect the original vocal artists to carry on doing these forever, and it's over 15 years since Paige first did Belle. While I will miss her, as long as we get another good performer and the stories and animation are of a high quality, that's the main thing.
