Either way I don't think it really matters because to my knowledge we're still getting a 3D home release and the trailer never specified "theater" or "Blu-ray" only, it just says coming "in 3D".DisneyJedi wrote:Hey, were the home video/Blu-ray releases for Hunchback, Mulan and Wreck-It Ralph being developed BEFORE the announcement of TLM's 3D cancellation?
Because I saw the 3D "rerelease" trailers on WiR and HoND so far, including a little TLM 3D ad thing in the booklet that came with WiR.

Honestly, Dylan, that looks like it actually comes from the 2006 DVD transfer.

Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
Hi everyone!
Apparently, here in Spain we're getting The Little Mermaid Blu-Ray in August.
It's very strange and it scares me, I hope Disney Spain will give us the real Diamond Edition and not a 1 disc simple edition without extras like they did with Peter Pan... =(

I think it might be a Diamond. Wasn't Cinderella released in August there last year, as in the UK?
Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
Yes indeed, Cinderella was bumped to August, still labelled a Diamond though.

Cinderella was released on October 2, 2012 in USA and September 26, 2012 in Spain (both Diamond Editions), so, it might be.Jules wrote:I think it might be a Diamond. Wasn't Cinderella released in August there last year, as in the UK?
Like I said before, I'm afraid because the last Disney releases were all a mess, so many blu-ray discs without almost any extras, even Peter Pan!!
Well, we'll see when the time comes =)
Little Mermaid 3D release scrapped?
Wow i was just dealt a crushing blow while surfing the internet, the wiki page for 89 Little Mermaid film lists the Sept. 2013 release as being cancelled as of Jan. 14th of this year.
WHY??????????????????????????????????????????
Lion King did great, Beauty and the Beast did well, and the Pixar movies underperformed. It's a much bigger novelty to see the animated classics from 1937-1994. Hell, why do they even need to be converted to 3D? I would gladly go see these without that gimmick.
The idea of experiencing these films the way they were mean to be seen (on the big screen) is very exciting.
Has Disney given up on rerelases just because the Pixar movies that are barely 10 years old didn't do well enough?

Wiki is not an official source and should not be trusted. Someone can edit that page with incorrect info. Heck right now I could go edit the page and say Disney is never going to sell Blu Rays again and will sell VHS from now onjade wrote:Wow i was just dealt a crushing blow while surfing the internet, the wiki page for 89 Little Mermaid film lists the Sept. 2013 release as being cancelled as of Jan. 14th of this year.

Again I think the info is wrong, so relax given Wikipedia's track record of not being reliable

Wiki has been much better about enforcing policies regarding fact checking and citing sources. It should still be taken with a grain of salt of course, but so should just about anything.disneyboy20022 wrote:Wiki is not an official source and should not be trusted. Re: Little Mermaid 3D release scrapped?
I took my kids to see The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast in 3D, but I did not go see any of the Pixar movies in 3D. They don't hold AS MUCH nostalgia for me yet. I was really looking forward to seeing The Little Mermaid back in theaters (I missed it when it was first released). I hope that Disney puts this back on the agenda.jade wrote:Wow i was just dealt a crushing blow while surfing the internet, the wiki page for 89 Little Mermaid film lists the Sept. 2013 release as being cancelled as of Jan. 14th of this year.

I forgot to mention....this WAS going to be the first movie I take my 3 year old daughter to see in theaters.

Ursula and the shark might be too scary for a 3 year-old.

Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
I remember when I was 4 at a Disney On Ice show, and Ursula came out giant size, it scared the crap out of me. I literally avoided the movie for 3 years because Ursula gave me nightmares, mainly from the Disney On Ice Show, not the movie.Disney Duster wrote:Ursula and the shark might be too scary for a 3 year-old.

No children's film is good if it doesn't give them nightmares.
And, yay, my 5000th post! I'm officially Platinum.
I thought it was appropriate to save it for the TLM thread.

I disagree. I saw TLM when I was 3-4 years old and I loved it. Also Pinno was my favourite movie at 3 years old and that movie is a zillion more nightmare fuel-ish than Ariel's shark dodge chase.Disney Duster wrote:Ursula and the shark might be too scary for a 3 year-old.

Though to be honest it depends on the kid him/ herself; Some kid's love scary moments while some kid's just can't handle any scary moments at all.

Well... I don't trust Disney Spain anymore xD They do lots of things wrong, but anyway, I will buy the spanish edition, and the USA edition too (In case the spanish one doesn't have the latinoamerican language, as you know (being from Spain like me xD) that's a tricky topic here...Thumper_93 wrote:well RodryCroft i think that disney will do a great edition of this film in Europe because this is a very famous film, maybe it won't includes the slip cover but i'm sure that it will have a lot of bonus
