Makes sense to me. When Flynn first finds out about her powers, Rapunzel almost seems like she thinks she's a freak because of it. Mother Gothel also insults her, which Rapunzel simply laughs off. I believe the sad thing is that Rapunzel truly loves Gothel, the only human she's ever known. Gothel though, is only using her. I felt heartbroken during every scene both Gothel and Rapunzel were in.janesjubilee wrote:Telling her how the lanterns are just stars is kind of an example of treating Rapunzel like a child. Basically, lying to her because Gothel thinks Rapunzel is kind of stupid like some kids >_>Disney Duster wrote:Why would Mother Gothel give Rapunzel a book on Geography...when she's locked in a tower? And wouldn't a book like that make her want to leave? Or is it a way of satisfying Rapunzel of what the outside world is like, so she doesn't need to leave? Because I still think it would show Rapunzel all the places in the world and make her want to leave anymore. I don't think the book makes sense for Gothel to give her.
And actually, a lot of this reminds me of The Truman Show!
WHAT? How does that make sense?
The main reason Gothel tells Rapunzel not to leave is because she tells Rapunzel that people want to cut her hair and take away the magic from her hair, which scares Rapunzel into staying.

Loving all the new stuff! For anyone who doesn't know yet, Gothel painted the scary man picture on the floor during 'Mother Knows Best.' That's why it's not as pretty as the rest of the tower art

Yeah, that's part of the reason Rapunzel knocks Flynn out. She's scared of him, then she realizes he's quite handsome (at least not ugly XD)phan258 wrote:Loving all the new stuff! Thanks for these! Although this one says Zach's a 'Disney-phobe'......shouldn't it be 'Disney-phile?' Hmm.
Oh....this has some mild spoilers, so reader beware! Can't speak for the other ones.

Can we all please start calling people who hate Disney "Disneyphobic"!?! lol
anyways... I love the new stills! AUGH I can't wait for this movie!!!
I'm taking some of my clients to see Megamind tomorrow, and they seemed kinda excited except for one of them. Later, I asked her why she didn't want to go with the rest of us, and she said that 1- She's not nearly as excited for this movie as for Tangled, and 2- She thought I was a hypocrite because I've been talking about how badly I want Tangled to outperform Megamind, LOL! I work at a residential treatment center for girls 14-18 who've been abused/are kinda psychotic/violent/self-harmers/or have had issues with the law. I thought it was kind of a cute moment out of all the very not cute moments I have with them.
by the way, is it kinda bad that as a 24 yr old man I almost REALLY want that doll collection? I mean, it's all 10 of them! It'd be sooooo much more cooler if it were the new Disney Store ones. I think they're so cool, with all of their detail and the joints and all. Omg I feel like such a dork.
That's nice what you do with those girls. Really, young girls get the worse of it in society so its nice that they have someone to take care of themsingerguy04 wrote:phan258 wrote: Thanks for these! Although this one says Zach's a 'Disney-phobe'......shouldn't it be 'Disney-phile?' Hmm.![]()

Regarding the dolls, if anyone asks, just say that they are very rare collectibles that are worth million of dollars and that you are looking for a potential buyer. Or, just say that they are a Christmas present

Flynn Rider turns into Dr. Phil...Oh, no, they DIDN'T!
Dear Disney Fans,
As cool as "Tangled" may turn out to be, I am rather disappointed by Flynn Rider's trailer lines! I mean, I can already tell that "Tangled" will be an almost too-modern movie, and that it won't exactly be MY fairly era-correct dream movie from Disney, but I am rather disturbed by Flynn Rider's Dr. Phil-type tendencies, with regards to his trailer lines.
Flynn is constantly saying phrases like, "You're growing up," "This is a natural part of growing up," etc., and he's sounding more and more like a psychologist, and less and less like a dashing rogue!
He's also sounding as though he's urging Rapunzel's maturity on, as though he's looking at her through a petri dish, as though he's charting her journey through more mature eyes...slightly voyeristically, perhaps...? I mean, it's a good thing that Rapunzel's not going to grow 5 inches and get implants, or Flynn would say things like "Wow! You're finally a tall drink of water," and "I notice that you've finally gained a few inches where it counts, Baby." The implications of what he's already saying disturb me slightly, to say the least. He speaks so casually, as though he's Rapunzel's older brother, or as though he's some older man, who's going to teach her about mature exploits, even though...HE BARELY KNOWS HER!
I know that Flynn Rider is naturally the more experienced of the two adventurers, but the fact that he's hitting the audience over the head with Rapunzel's growing maturity seems to make HIM the one who CHARTS her growing status as a heroine. He seems to be reporting about her, as a doctor reports about his patient's improving condition. I am disappointed by the possible fact that Rapunzel won't even be able to TRULY be the heroine of her own story...
I can just imagine that if Rapunzel and Flynn DID ever get married, he'd constantly be coaching her, like a big brother/ father, with regards to EVERYTHING from the modest to the steamy...and then making remarks like "She can take care of herself!", as if to brag about his coached, watched, reported-upon..."project"...
I really, really, really hope that I've been taking Flynn Rider's comments out of context, and that Rapunzel is her own heroine.
Thank you in advance for your replies.

Re: Flynn Rider turns into Dr. Phil...Oh, no, they DIDN'T!
That was kind of his point. He's trying to get Rapunzel back into the tower so he acts like he knows what he's talking about, which is why he says it's all part of growing up. He's making Rapunzel feel more guilty that she left Mother Gothel without telling her. They aren't really getting along at the beginning of the movie.Jackoleen wrote:Dear Disney Fans,

Plus, you're going off the trailers. The trailers are just a small fraction of the film to try to draw an audience in. Don't judge a movie just on the trailers.
Re: Flynn Rider turns into Dr. Phil...Oh, no, they DIDN'T!
I agreed with Jane. I personally don't judge movies from its trailers to me it's like judging a book for its cover. I know enough of the spoilers to say that the reason Flynn being that way (At least in the beginning of the film) because he wants to get the crown back from Rapunzel. Trying to make her feel guilty and making her think what she doing is wrong and should go back to her tower. If I was Rapunzel I would feel terrible to 'betray' the only person I ever knew. Also, Rapunzel doesn't have any experiences outside of her tower, which I think it's a good thing Flynn is 'coaching' her and telling her how things work.janesjubilee wrote:That was kind of his point. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. - Walt Disney
Just a thought
Why didn't Gothel pretend another day was Rapunzel's birthday? It wouldn't have been hard to teach a baby that a different day was her birthday, and after seeing the lanterns for the first three years Gothel should know they would continue and Rapunzel would be curious. She probably would be curious about them no matter what day they fell on, but having her know it is her birthday only makes it more tempting to see them. Gothel made a huge mistake.
