Maybe it is a newer model of Bo, Woody meets her, at first glance thinks it's his long-lost love, but then realizes it's not her, but she's nice, etc., on her own merit, so she joins them (a different twist on Lotso's type of storyline). Maybe she has a network of lost Bo Peeps and helps Woody & friends find her. #IHaveNoIdea

A part of me understands the remodel to Bo. But another part is really confused.

If it's a looks thing, like they're afraid that the inevitable Bo Peep dolls won't sell well this year, ... Is that really an issue? The marketing will have "Toy Story" plastered all over. People will buy a Bo doll if she's in the movie no matter what she looks like.

I mean, I'm sure a lot of people bought that hideous Emma Watson Belle doll a couple years ago just because she was from the movie.

(Oh my God! I just realized, are they going to sell legit Forky "toys" to kids this Christmas? )

I was guessing this new look of Bo's meant Bo in TS4 (or earlier, timeline wise) got cracked/chipped paint and some collector got her and made new clothes/repainted her. And that would be an excuse to her "Disney Princess" look. Now, I dunno.

It'll probably be a spin on "When She Loved Me", just from the mom's side. I've read before that Woody was Andy's dad's toy from his childhood; maybe Bo was Andy's mom's childhood toy, hence the vintage tone? Hmm.

I think it is the same Bo we know. I agree, the change is too extreme. I think the reason they've redesigned her is because they thought her design wasn't good enough for her to be a lead character this time. Before, she was just a secondary one. They did the same with Tony Rydinger in Incredibles 2 because he was going to have a bigger role in the sequel.

That sounds quite likely. Do they say in Toy Story 3 what exactly had happened with Bo? I don't remember it now. Maybe what happens in the flashback is that she brokes and Andy's mom decides it's not worth repairing her and throws her away. And we learn it's not an easy decision for her because she was her toy first. Later, someone finds Bo and repairs her.

I hated that too. It was a completely unnecessary change. Still, the Bo-Peep re-design is much more drastic and noticeable, in my opinion. If there's one medium where we shouldn't have to deal with recasting is animation.

Observer.com has some new details about Keanu Reeves' character:
Sources tell us that Keanu Reeves, who joined the cast in November in a mystery role, is playing a character named Duke Kaboom, who hails from a place where discontinued toys are sent (we’re totally getting an original GameBoy cameo, aren’t we?). Apparently, Bo Peep (voiced by Annie Potts) seeks out his help in retrieving her sheep after they’ve been taken from her. So, essentially, Reeve’s Duke Kaboom is the John Wick of toys.

They also claim that Randy Newman has written a new song for the film called “Lonesome Cowboy”:
In other Toy Story 4 news, sources also tell us that none other than Randy Newman has written a new original song for the film called “Lonesome Cowboy.” Newman has won two Oscars for his work with Pixar and earned multiple Academy Award nominations for his Toy Story music, so it’s safe to say that the fourth film is in capable hands in that department.

Thanks for all the pics and info! So Bo-Peep's sublot involves her getting her sheep back. I'm not sure how I feel about that. It doesn't seems very interesting, though I suppose it all depends on the execution.

Exactly, that's one of the advantages of animation, but it seems we aren't free from it even in this medium. In my opinion, the redesign of Tony Rydinger was more drastic, but it's more important and noticeable in the case of Bo, because she'll have a bigger role in her film and she's better-known to the public than Violet's love interest.

According to Twitter, the ending has already been leaked on the net somewhere. :o I haven't seen it yet, but apparently it's "heartbreaking."

That coupled with the singling out of Woody in the posters, the info about him having an existential crisis, and the new song being called "Lonesome Cowboy", I think it's safe to say Woody will split up from the gang in the end. He'll probably stay at the carnival with the new characters Ducky and Bunny while Buzz and the rest of the toys will go back to Bonnie.

Keep in mind, when they screened toy story 3 they left out the final scene. Could be the same deal here.

I am thinking that something happens to Bo while she's looking for her sheep, and Woody has a crisis about identity/feelings of being alone. He's known Bo longer than he's known Buzz, it'd probably affect him a lot. I don't think he'd leave everyone though. Wouldn't that go against what he realizes in TS2?

It does but don't think they care. I mean the whole "Woody has an existential crisis about what it means to be a toy" was already over and done with in Toy Story 2 yet here we are again.

I don't like it when continuity isn't kept consistent, but I'll admit that I actually liked the change in Tony's design. He was incredibly generic and jockish in the first film. His redesign had a lot more personality and suited Violet more imo.

That doesn't seem very consistent with Toy Story 3's ending either, considering that he's the one who wants to go back to Andy when everyone else is happy at the daycare.

I'm happy about the return of Bo Peep, but I hope TS5 will put focus on Buzz and Jessie. Woody is the only one who got any real attention in 3 (aside from Ken, Barbie, and Andy), and it looks like he and Bo Peep will be the mains of this story.
