I only seem to recall ratatouille's teaser trailer, but in those few seconds remi blurted out pretty much all we needed. The trailer was no better than a poster with the release date. Sure, it was nice to watch, but it wasn't fascinating like everyone is making it out to be... imo.
People have got to realize how much someone 'likes' something isn't proportional to it's quality. Leonardo da Vinci might have been the greatest artist of all time, but it doesn't mean he's everyones favourite artist. Some low-budget low quality films might look terrible from the publics eye, but that doesn't stop some individuals from adoring them.
The reason why I didn't like Toy Story 2 was because it was too ambitious. For some, that might've been a good thing. But for me, it just meant more characters, more settings, more background storyline, less emotion. The thrill and fear of Sid's dog Buster (was that his name?), the frustration of Woody when all his friends wouldn't believe him, Lightyear's tragic anagnorisis and the wonderment of planet pizza. That's what I call substance, and thats what I'd like to see in films.
It doesn't mean I thought the film was bad or that they could've done a better job. By the end of the first film, they had reached a level where all they could do is get bigger and that's what they did. In a way, it's like Snow White and Pinocchio. Snow White had emotion, Pinocchio did everything bigger but somehow lost that emotion. Except in that case I preferred Pinocchio
