The whole thing just baffles me to be honest. When I was a kid (I'm only 26 mind you) you could pretty much use the word any time you wanted, no one would bat and eye. Now even if you use it in the context it was meant for, people loose their minds. You cant even say a retarded person is retarded. Yet you can say mentally challenged or whatever PC term they want you to use now. It means the same thing. I don't know how it got classified as a slur and reached N word status.disneyprincess11 wrote:And I'm disabled, but not offended by it. But, still....

guess its much the same as how everyone seems to say "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas", and even christmas themed movies and tv specials have to labelled as something else. i saw a thomas christmas dvd today called "merry winter wish". here in new zealand, winter has nothing to do with christmas, given it occurs over summer.Kyle wrote:The whole thing just baffles me to be honest. Maybe because the r-word has been historically and systematically used to mock, demonize and dehumanize people with mental disabilities? No, it must be just a cynical PC thing because a person on the Internet who doesn't care enough to even spend five minutes to look into the matter said so.Kyle wrote:The whole thing just baffles me to be honest. No, it's definitely not the same.sunhuntin wrote:guess its much the same as how everyone seems to say "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas"

Look, I don't want to complain, but, this whole r word thing is getting a bit controversial and off-topic. So can we get back on topic, please? Thank you.

i didnt mean that how you took it, i meant it like how things can go from being considered "ok" one day, and not the next.Sotiris wrote:No, it's definitely not the same.sunhuntin wrote:guess its much the same as how everyone seems to say "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas"

Re: New Mickey Mouse Shorts Coming in 2013
The show has been renewed for a second season.
Source: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/0 ... el/248892/Season two of "Mickey Mouse," the multiple Emmy and Annie Award-winning comedy cartoon spotlighting Disney's #1 star, debuts FRIDAY, APRIL 11 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel and will be available on WATCH Disney Channel, Disney.com and iTunes the day after their linear premiere. Since its debut in June 2013, the series has reached over 100 million total viewers in the U.S. and currently airs in 160 countries in 33 languages.
Season two of the comedic shorts once again features Mickey facing a variety of silly situations and heartfelt and heroic moments. The new season finds Mickey and pals – Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto – in an array of modern locales around the globe including Spain, Holland and India, as well as a trip to outer space. The season will also include several Minnie Mouse-centric shorts.
In the San Francisco-set season opener, "Cable Car Chaos," Mickey and Minnie must stop a runaway cable car as it careens through the city's famous streets. Other new episodes include "Fire Escape," where Mickey attempts to rescue Minnie from her burning apartment building, Friday, April 25 (7:55 p.m., ET/PT); "Eau de Minnie," in which Minnie's new perfume enchants an entire city, Friday, May 23 (8:25 p.m., ET/PT); and "The Boiler Room," where Mickey must face a monster living in the basement of Minnie's apartment, (June TBD).

YIPPEE SKIPPEE!
Note: I'm not a fan of Ren & Stimpy, I just want to avoid using My Little Pony as my reactions. At least I did something different.

Now that there's going to be a second season of the greatest, digital, but greatest Mickey Mouse shorts, I have a wish list.
1. Give Pluto more appearances.
2. Give Horace and Clarabelle a speaking role.
3. Give Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles a cameo appearance with a mexican cartoon.
4. Give Chip 'N' Dale an appearance. Plus Scrooge McDuck and Ludwig Von Drake.
5. Give Daisy Duck more appearances.
6. Give Oswald The Lucky Rabbit and Ortensia an appearance.
And finally,
7. If ready, give Mickey and friend their own half hour series.

9. Give Minnie fewer appearances? I've seen a list of some of the newer episodes to come, and it seems she figures prominently in all of them.TsWade2 wrote:Now that there's going to be a second season of the greatest, digital, but greatest Mickey Mouse shorts, I have a wish list.

Of course. And maybe use some of the characters from Fantasia and Fantasia 2000.Mickeyfan1990 wrote:TsWade2 wrote:Now that there's going to be a second season of the greatest, digital, but greatest Mickey Mouse shorts, I have a wish list.

Re: New Mickey Mouse Shorts Coming in 2013
Goofy IS lovable in the new shorts, dagnabbit! He's just back to acting a bit more like he did in the 1930's, 40's, 50's and 60's.TsWade2 wrote:6. If possible, give Goofy some clothes. And make him a little bit more lovable.
Also, please stop asking that he start wearing more clothes (he's only wearing what he wore in his Dippy Dawg period--go back and re-watch Mickey's Revue, The Whoopee Party, Touchdown Mickey, etc.)! They are not going to do something as petty as that just to please only a measly few complainers. Plus, they are not going to stop using the Dippy Dawg version of the Goof in those shorts--if they changed him to his post-Dippy appearance, he'd be severely out-of-place among the other 20's/30's-styled characters.
I'm sick of the complaints about Goofy's appearance and personality in these shorts, especially since a lot of them never really saw the really shorts anyway. If I hear one more person complaining about the looks and depictions of Goofy in the new shorts, I am going to explode!

Disneyphilip go take a chill pill.
As for more Daisy/less Minnie, I doubt it. The series is called "Mickey Mouse", so the secondary characters that appear in it are mostly related to Mickey- his girlfriend, best friend, rival, and pet. In comparison Daisy is nothing to Mickey in this universe.
Which is ironic considering how in House of Mouse they had a sort of bromance going on.

Anywho, I agree. I, too, would like to see more of Daisy in the new season as well as more of Pluto. And I disagree with asking for less of Minnie. As far as I'm concerned, let her continue to make lots of appearances.
However, I do think that Goofy should be given a break and not appear in new episodes for a while, since they used him quite a lot in the first season. Let the other characters take the spotlight for a change.
