Great reviews. It's good to see them up before the DVD's actually get released. Hopefully some of the reviews for DVD's released already can have some time to get finished up and posted before another batch of DVD's arrives to be reviewed. It would be great if all the reviews you have listed to be coming soon could be finished to bring your site totally up to date. :)

^Indeed. The problem is that (A) Buena Vista released a ton of DVDs in a very short period of time, (B) many of the DVDs aren't being sent out very far in advance lately and they can take quite a while to research, write, and format, and (C) the end of the year is of course a very busy time for the reviewers too. Fortunately, Disney is going easy on the releases for the next couple of weeks. Thanks for reading the reviews and for being patient on my upcoming reviews... they are coming along. I think I speak for all the UD reviewers when I say that we share your desire to have them done as soon as possible, although the list never really ends. In the meantime, I think UD stays quite up to date on all things Disney. :)

Thank you! But in all fairness, I wrote about one sentence of it! Aaron wrote the rest. :)

Too bad we couldn't get an interview with that lady for her big Sing Along Songs DVD debut.

Good review of the Pongo and Perdita Sing-Along. Haha, the woman of questionable relation. I think I'll be staying away from this one. ;)

I haven't posted feedback since the Valiant review. I'm sorry about that. Great job on the reviews, guys! I can't say that I've read every single one that has been posted lately, but when I find the time, I'll be sure to fix that. The ones that I have read, however, were great.

Excellent job on the Pong & Perdita Sing Along Songs DVD, Aaron! The actual presentation sounds hilarious (because of how corny it sounds). I especially liked the captions for the pictures (Where are these kids parents?). I don't think I could stand to be in the same room with that hostess.

I liked the Disneyland Resort review, Loomis! It's too bad the DVD itself was nothing to celebrate about. We've been getting so much false advertizing from Disney lately.

The last review I read, and pretty much the only DVD this month I expect to get is Kronk's New Groove. It sounds like an entertaining, funny movie to watch. I'm glad they actually included a making-of featurette that isn't all fluff. I can tell by the recent reviews that you sure LOVE Disney's fastplay, Luke.

One again, applause all around. I've noticed that there hasn't been very much feedback on the recent reviews, but we all really appreciate the hard work you guys put into them, and I'm going to try to show my appreciation a lot more frequently. :)

Thanks for the feedback, Pasta. It's truly appreciated!

New review: My Dog, The Thief
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/mydogthethief.html

That means that for the second week in a row, all my reviews are done by release date. Well, of course, <i>Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken</i> hasn't shown up, but I can't review something I don't have, now can I?

Two reviews since last posting.

Funny Factory with Donald (Volume 2), which is not, as I saw asked in a recent post here, some older television show, but basically a Classic Cartoon Favorites-style compilation with a different name and design:
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/funnyfactory2-donald.html

And Flightplan, which reunites Jodie Foster with Disney, albeit in the Touchstone division:

Nice work on the Flightplan review. :)

I thought It was one of the best movies of 2005 (next to Batman Begins).

Forgive me if this has already been asked, but, is there going to be a review for Toy Story 2: 2-Disc Special Edition? I know it's been out for almost a month, now. I was just curious to know if a review was being worked on.

Also, what about a review for another Pixar film, Monster's Inc.?

Again, forgive me if this has been asked, before, but I am just curious.

Check the first post of this thread... It has a "Coming Soon" section that is regularly updated with reviews that are currently in progress, listed in the order that they are expected to be posted. I think you'll find what you're looking for. :)

I'm making my way to <i>Toy Story 2</i>. Just got one of the three December DVDs that had passed covered, <b><i>Once Upon a Mattress</b></i> now:
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/onceuponamattress.html

That leaves me with just <i>Bambi II</i> and the overdue <i>Toy Story 2</i> and <i>Spin & Marty</i> sets to be all caught up with no DVDs on my "To Do" stack for the first time since, I believe, early November.

Aaron is right. We try to keep the "Coming Soon" section at the bottom of the first post as accurate as possible. And, of course, we try to stay as on top of reviews as possible.

I'm trying to be extremely patient for Luke, Aaron and i think Renatta to do the SPD Volume 2-5 review since 2 and 3 were out in September i believe. But I must say for Toy Story 2 i didn't look at the extra's or get The Original one that Had Toy Story and A Bugs Life along with it but i really enjoyed getting the movie but probably would have preffered Disney to release it on the 10th anniversary.

Thanks for the compliments on the Pongo & Perdita disc. It was one of those that writing about it was far more fun than watching it. Thanks also for the general compliments, Pasta, and your efforts towards reading the reviews and posting feedback. People posting any sort of feedback that engages with the reviews goes a long way in compensating for all that goes into them.

Speaking of which, I have plenty of feedback to be posting myself. I've enjoyed reading all of the recent reviews. The Timeless Tales vol. 3 reminds me of some classic Disney shorts that I need to either see for the first time or revisit for the first time in a long time. I especially like the picture with the plush dolls (even if it does look like the totally cool Edna doll is eating poor Snoopy's ear). I always go back and forth on whether I should start collecting Disney plushes... I especially want the Muppets ones at Disney World... and that picture went a long way in convincing me to take up another hobby that I can't afford.

I was a fan of The Very Hungry Caterpillar earlier in life. I had no idea until recently that it even had a video adaptation, so the backstory of that project was nice to read. Of course it isn't something that I'm going to watch for myself anytime, it is nice to see that something that is so nice for its appropriate age group was able to translate over to video. As for the other stories, I don't so much remember those. I, too, was left wishing that I had thought these books up at the end of the review.

I liked that your Good Morning, Vietnam review addresses the non-Robin Williams fan directly on several occasions, Luke, as I more or less put myself in that group. Still, this movie has interested me and I'm happy to see that you think that it can entertain at least once, even if his spastic quipping mode is what irritates me the most (and it is). And now it has a pretty good DVD treatment to make the investigation worth it. A very well-researched and thoughtfully-analyzed review.

Some of the SAS:TJB songs are a little less recognizable than the A-string, but it sounds like it resides in the upper crust of the SAS series. Surely the song is actually titled with "Bear." If it's not, you're ever so right about a missed opportunity there. Is it just me or do SAS reviews lend themselves to some of the better captions? Well, SAS reviews and Princess reviews by Renata.

Who knew Bill Murray and Benji's lives have run on such an eery parallel? Honestly, this movie sounds more or less like my worst nightmare. (Live-action, non-speaking dog wandering through nature? No thanks). I'd heard of the title, but knew nothing about it, or even that it belonged to Disney, until this. As you say, a predilection towards dogs may help, and I simply have no such predilection (good word, btw).

Good job on the Funny Factory w/ Mickey disc, too. Those are kind of fun, aren't they? (The DVDs, I mean, not the reviews :P). It made me want to get back in touch with my Mickey Treasures sets. The pete caption was hilarious.

Bill Cosby is all I really need to know to be interested in The Devil & Max Devlin... throw in Elliot Gould and you just sweeten the deal. This very informative review has me very interested in this movie, and not just because of its cast. It sounds odd but in a mostly good way, and a little edgy, what with all the damnation.

My Dog, The Thief sounds like a fairly good one. I enjoyed the comparison of it to studio patterns at the time. It's a shame it didn't fair better on DVD, but I guess that wasn't to be expected, either.

I like Jodie Foster. "Okay" is about what I would call <i>Panic Room</i> too, but I'm glad to have seen it and I look forward to seeing <i>Flightplan</i> too, which sounds pretty exciting for at least a single viewing. I wasn't too anxious for bonus features (though some of them and the menus sound pretty cool) on this one, but I'm glad to see the audio/video presentation is so good.

And finally, the one I've been most excited for: Once Upon a Mattress. The fact that it's so suggestive is a little surprising. I've been interested in this ever since UD posted the announcement and it sounds like it's definitely worth looking into, especially since many of your reservations were ones that you didn't seem to think would annoy fans of song & dance musicals as much. I'm so glad you illustrated the whole history of the play (how cool that Carol is still in it, but in a different role... and that's gotta be intimidating for Ullman). That was very informative, as I'd been curious about all of that. The tone of subject of this sound very interesting... the execution has me a little worried, as does your description of the music, but I'm still anxious to see it. The amount of bonus features for something like this is surprising too.

Thanks for so many great reviews recently!

Thanks for the thorough feedback, Aaron. It's so nice to see that people read the reviews and appreciate the little things, like screencaps, captions, obscure analogies, and so on. Even if it is only you and Pasta, and a select few (and the stats say that it's not). Anyway, your reviews of my reviews are themselves quite entertaining and helpful. As are your reviews themselves, which are consistently splendid. It's especially interesting to see how the various reviews pique or quell your interest. I think most reviews, if written effectively, have the power to trigger either response based upon who's reading it and their expectations, with the exception of gushing favorable reviews, which generally just pique, unless they're pretentious.

Great review on the Bambi II DVD! I was hoping though it'd be the first DTV sequel by Disney to actually be a really good one. Too bad to see it lets down though as usual. Looking forward to your Toy Story 2 review then Luke and parts 2 & 3 of your Disneyland review. At least now you're caught up for quite awhile with the new DVD's and can get to the backlog. :)

Thanks for the kind words, Lucylover! I'm looking forward to finally delving into <i>Toy Story 2</i> myself.

Aaron Wallace has a new review today, which is UD's 18th of the month, 386th DVD review overall, and Aaron's fifth this year:

Dark Water: Unrated Widescreen Edition (:star: :star: :star: ½):
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/darkwater.html

Even with a couple of new additions, that "To Do" list is gladly under two dozen right now and should (ideally) even be down to a dozen within a week or two.

Thanks for the review of Bambi II, Luke. While you seem to feel that it is an unworthy follow-up, I believe that, from what I've seen, I will end up enjoying it. The clips I've seen, and the 11 minute preview that is up on the www.bambi2dvd.com website, has really captured my attention. Maybe it is because I'm not expecting it to be told in the same light as the original. I just know that I've enjoyed what I've seen, for what it is.

I appreciate your hard work, Luke, and await further reviews. Thanks for getting Bambi II up sooner than I expected!
