Someone has translated the lyrics. Apparently, the live performance isn't the full song because the snippet from the sneak peek is also included in that video and it has a verse whose lyrics are different from the ones there. I think the best part of the song was already featured in the trailers, but I personally like it. Although, my expectations for the songs weren't too high. If it was by Lin-Manuel Miranda, perhaps I would've been disappointed.
Farerb wrote: Sat Oct 26, 2024 4:25 am I'm guessing we aren't getting a song per week like we did with Wish and we'll have to wait for November 21 for the full soundtrack.
I think they did that for the release of Wish because they couldn't use the actors to promote the movie due to the strike. At least at first, I believe the strike finished before the premiere and the actors did do some promotion at the last minute. Speaking of the premiere, the directors recently said the film is finally finished.

First they said there are five new songs, then six and now eight. I wonder if they added back some of the songs that were going to be used when it was a series but were later deleted or what.

There was some interesting info in that article. For example, I hadn't noticed the different hairstyle Moana now has. That must be one of the main reasons why she looks a bit different now. And it makes sense they made her more muscular since she's been a wayfinder for three years.

True. But personally, I mostly found her face different than the rest of her body. But hey, according to Musker and Clements, she was apparently more muscular and flexible than her Princess predecessors in her first movie. In order to make her a different type of Princess :P

Tbh the last time i Was so disinterested in an upcoming WDAS movie (besides Strange World of course) was probably BH6, theres literally nothing in the promo sneak Peaks that makes me think theres something new or interesting here. The Story looks like the original moana with Frozen 2s elements sprinkled in (The trapped Island/ Forest, a mysterious Call ordering her to free them blah blah) weve seen that already. The new characters are as fun and outstanding as the ones from Frozen 2 and the music (were back) sounds like it would fit in Wishs deluxe Soundtrack.

Still gonna see it in theatres to see if my distaste for that will be justified, but if this will end up like Wish i wont bother to really be invested in their upcoming slate that much, its ok to have one mediocre movie every 5 years, but this decade, aside from Raya (and maybe Encanto) was nothing but lackluster and far from the interesting characters from the 90s or interesting storytelling that was still there in the 2010s.

Idk maybe they showed some previz or something to already get the rating but Animation should be finished by now i think

Ehmm also why do those dancing kids have the exact same outfit as Moana? :eyebrow: didnt knew Motunui got a Disney Store And wow the dancing kid looks posessed now

It bereaves me to say that I find myself in the same situation, at least as far as anticipation for THIS film goes. I have to imagine that there's a lot of fun you can have in the Moana world, but I just don't know what this is supposed to bring either that franchise or Disney Animation. The "First Look!" articles all go on about how "In this film, Moana gets EVEN MORE lost and has to believe in herself EVEN MORE" and it all just feels incidental.

The mere inoffensiveness of it all makes me feel like I could potentially pull off a theater viewing just out of solidarity, but the pre-sale numbers have me thinking that this movie will be just fine without me. I enjoy the first Moana plenty, but it's never really been a high point for me of Disney Animation generally or even 2010s Disney specifically anyway.

My indifference to the thing is almost more agonizing than any disdain I could have for it.

I got my ticket for Tuesday November 26th. I guess because it's a holiday week in the U.S., they're having screenings extra early...?

I plan to see Wicked Part 1 this year. I'll see Moana 2 on Disney+ eventually. The first one was on the boring side for me, which is the main reason, but the lack of M&C and Miranda made me even more skeptical to see it in theaters. It'll be fine regardless, I imagine; I didn't see Inside Out 2 in theaters either--even though I was much more interested in it than with this one--and it did massively well.

Please tell me Disney is at least TRYING to market this movie. :(

Strange World hardly got marketed and that bombed hard. And Wish got barely any marketing because of the Hollywood strikes and while it did make money, it wasn’t close to breaking even. Though I doubt marketing is to blame for that.

This movie markets itself. Pre-sales are through the roof.

We should be more concerned about whether it’s good or not.

I believe it’ll be good against all odds. Better than the first? Nope. But as good as the 1st like Inside Out 2 was, IMO? Probably.

Don't believe people working in cinemas, they always overhype movies so they get people talking since they make all their money from box office

‘Moana 2’ Tracking for Record-Shattering $125M-$135M Thanksgiving Opening

The animated feature is eyeing the biggest debut ever for the holiday, besting fellow Walt Disney Animation's 'Frozen.' It could also beat 'Frozen II' to become the top Thanksgiving earner of all time.
Yeah ... this movie will be fine without me.

The soundtrack tracklist has been revealed. No score tracks are included, so I don't think there are big spoilers here. It's a shame the score is not featured in it at all, though, but perhaps there'll be a Deluxe Edition and the score tracks will be there.
1. Tulou Tagaloa (Sei e Va’ai Mai) – Olivia Foa’i & Te Vaka (1:07)
2. We’re Back – Auli’i Cravalho & Cast (3:12)
3. Tuputupu (The Feast) – Te Vaka (0:35)
4. Beyond (feat. Rachel House) – Auli’i Cravalho (3:50)
5. My Wish For You (Innocent Warrior) – Olivia Foa’i, Sulata Foai-Amiatu, Matatia Foai, Matthew Ineleo & Opetaia Foa’i (0:53)
6. Finding the Way – Olivia Foa’i & Te Vaka (1:29)
7. What Could Be Better Than This? – Auli’i Cravalho, Hualālai Chung, Rose Matafeo & David Fane (2:59)
8. Get Lost – Awhimai Fraser (3:05)
9. Can I Get a Chee Hoo? – Dwayne Johnson (2:50)
10. Mana Vavau – Dwayne Johnson, Opetaia Foa’i & Rachel House (1:31)
11. Beyond (Reprise) – Auli’i Cravalho (0:53)
12. Nuku O Kaiga – Te Vaka (1:10)
13. Finding the Way (Reprise) – Te Vaka (1:09)
14. We Know the Way (Te Fenua te Malie) – Auli’i Cravalho, Olivia Foa’i, Opetaia Foa’i & Te Vaka (1:28)
15. Beyond (End Credit Version) (feat. Te Vaka) – Auli’i Cravalho (3:16)
16. We’re Back (Te Vaka Version) – Olivia Foa’i, Sulata Foai-Amiatu & Te Vaka (3:11)
Source: https://filmmusicreporter.com/2024/11/0 ... m-details/

It seems it's true the film has eight new original songs. We now know the titles of Moana's crew song ("What Could Be Better Than This?") and Matangi's ("Get Lost"). "Beyond" has a reprise and Maui has a second song called "Mana Vavau," which he performs along with Rachel House (Gramma Tala) and Opetaia Foa'i (I guess probably as Moana's ancestor Matai Vasa, who he voiced in the original and we know has a bigger role in the sequel).

In fact, Opetaia Foa'i, his daughter Olivia and his band Te Vaka have a lot of songs this time around. Apparently, the film features new versions of "We Know the Way" (sung along with Auli'i), "Tulou Tagaloa" and "Innocent Warrior." The latter now has a new title ("My Wish For You"), so perhaps it'll get new English lyrics. They also perform "Tuputupu (The Feast)," which seems to be a preexisting song, new titles "Finding the Way" and its reprise and "Nuku O Kaiga," plus the end credit version of "We’re Back."
blackcauldron85 wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2024 6:01 am Interesting they used Auli'i instead of a pop singer, but it sounds terrific!!!
Yes, it's interesting. They did it, for example, in the Aladdin remake where Naomi Scott performed the end credit version of "Speechless," but it's not very common. I like it too, it sounds better now that we can listen to the full song in English with the chorus, accompaniment and all.
