Hey Estefan, I tried to copy and paste the link you gave but it doesn't work. Are you sure this is the correct url with those commas? "Page not found" is what I got.estefan wrote:Time Magazine revealed the top ten films of 2009 and The Princess and the Frog was #1!

Here's what Richard Corliss wrote about it:
Animation is thought of as a cash cow for the studios and a niche category for the Oscars. Yet a straight-faced argument could be made — and is, here — that 2009 boasted a richer crop of animated features than of live-action movies. We acknowledge the cartoonucopia with our top three selections, each in a different format. Hand-drawn (or 2-D) animation was left for dead in the CGI stampede, but this instant classic showed there's plenty of life, fun and heart in the old style. Tweaking the fable of the frog princess and setting it in 1920s New Orleans, directors John Musker and Ron Clements (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin) created a bayou full of winning characters, all bearing a wondrous comic elasticity. In time-honored Disney fashion, the movie offers a princess in the making, wishes made upon a star, the death of a major character and some well-earned tears to salt the spectator's smiles. For those who thought that 2-D had become the sole preserve of Japanese master Hayao Miyazaki (who returned to form with his sea fable, Ponyo), Musker and Clements proved that the number of dimensions don't matter; it's the animating spirit you bring to them.

I would like to see this Friday (I'm so excited!), however I've got a dance to go to that night, too... The weekend is unlikely, and I may be stuck seeing it after Christmas like I was with Enchanted... But I really hope to experience the early TPATF excitement with everyone else, so I'm crossing my fingers!

Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra CA is having a Princess and the Frog panel; and signing, details are here: http://www.gallerynucleus.com/event/230
Is there anyone from this forum that might be attending the event that wouldn't mind helping me out with getting my book signed by the panel guests? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since I've seen the ABC "Dreams come true"-special, which showed a lot of clips from PatF, I'm not interested anymore. Even from those short clips, I could see I've seen all these characters and situations before, in previous, better films.
Which ones are you talking about, Goliath? Is the romance bad, music, flat characters? I don't know, I usually refrain from reading reviews, cause you can't judge a book (or movie, in this case) by its cover. Up surprised me very much, I ended up LOVING it. I hated the trailers and even tried to prevent myself from seeing it. But it blew me away. You could try the same thing, even in the amount of clips you have seen. Here's hoping for the best!

Honestly though, I know a lot of spoilers from this film and it seems to me that although we've seen a lot of clips from the film there will still be some parts that will surprise you. Also, if you're going to think about it with that attitude, then there is no use in going to see a film ever again.Goliath wrote:Since I've seen the ABC "Dreams come true"-special, which showed a lot of clips from PatF, I'm not interested anymore. Sure a lot of this film is borrowed from past classic disney films, but that doesn't make it a bad film. It seems from many reviews that this is being regarded as the best Disney animated film since The Lion King. I think this film is worth at least one watch with that kind of praise.
I saw the "Dreams Come True" special, and even though I thought it did show too many clips of PatF it still got me more excited for the movie. These days I'm always concerned about spoilers because I like to be surprised. A good example is Up. I knew virtually nothing about Up before I went to see it. I even barely saw the trailers, so the plot was a complete unknown to me. I was blown away in the end of course.SmartAleck25 wrote:Since I've seen the ABC "Dreams come true"-special, which showed a lot of clips from PatF, I'm not interested anymore. Now that I'll be going to see TPatF this Friday, I have a small understanding of the plot, characters, and music. Would that spoil everything? I don't think so. There is still a lot to the movie that I don't know about, and although the Disney animation special showed a lot of those clips, the majority of the screen time is still unclear to me. It's not like I know exactly what's going to happen during the movie. I'll be surprised and I'll still laugh at the funny moments many people have said are in it.

No offense, but save for a few reviews, people seem to be very impressed with the film. The word I keep hearing is "surprised". They keep saying that the movie surprised them in that it was much better than they expect it. That the story is good, the romance is great and that the characters are enduring, even those that looked like they had the potential to be annoying.Goliath wrote:Since I've seen the ABC "Dreams come true"-special, which showed a lot of clips from PatF, I'm not interested anymore. Not saying that you will share the same thoughts, but from everything I've seen the movie is much stronger than it appears to be and that film clips don't do it justice.
As for the Time article, I am honestly surprised. I have yet to see the film, but it must be really good in order to dethrone the emotionally packed and overall satisfying Up in the animated canon.

Wow, Apple just posted the Dig a Little Deeper musical number in full 1080p HD (not quite the full thing). I could not resist and watched it, picture was good but the audio seemed low quality. I really don't see why they posted it, Disney has advertised the crap out of this film, and at this point it doesn't need any more help convincing people. I don't think this clip will change anyone's mind as most people will already know if they want to see it.
I'm really excited to see how this one turned out (I hope it doesn't disappoint).
Oh yeah, the link for all those with low will power:

Wow, thanks for the notice! But grrrr...I was so frustrated when it stopped mid-song...
But I gotta say, Im very pleased with what I saw. And its very clear that the story doesnt stop for the song. You can tell Naveen is gradually falling for Tiana...
And did anyone notice that Mama Odie makes her wand appear the same way the fairy Godmother did in Cinderella?
Loved it!
