The Gay Thread

Post by Disney Duster »

Wonderlicious, I can't find it, but that quote I actually found reading something where a friend of Walt's was telling it, he said Walt said it to him, and it sounded very personal and serious.

I want to know, was Bobby Driscoll gay?

As for Tommy Kirk, he actually is a Disney Legend! But carolinakid, he was actually fired because he was doing it with a 15 year old boy when he was in his 20's. Tim told me that Walt did not mind that Kirk was gay, but the 15 year old boy's mother reported, very angrily, Kirk picking up her son from school and...well, doing stuff with him.

Update on the Prop 8 debate:

http://www.365gay.com/news/calif-gays-m ... -8-appeal/

In other news all 31 Mexican states must recognize same-sex marriages (at least done within the country), but not all locations can perform them.

About California:

they can - they can't - they can - they can't - they can - they can't

I think it's sick to play with people's lives like this.

I made a new thread about Googling people, but really this is probably best in here, so I deleted that thread.

It's kind of a question, kind of babbling, haha.

There's a new coworker I have, and we work in the same department, so we spend a lot of time together, plus we carpool. He's really cool and gorgeous. Not that I need to have a crush with my situation, but I can't help it. My manager/friend asked me a couple days ago if I know if he's gay...she was just curious if he had mentioned anything to me. He's borderline, I guess...he could be or he couldn't be.

He has a pretty common name, so I hadn't Googled him, but then I saw what his email address is today, so I Googled his screenname, and not much came up, but one thing was a "man seeking a man" site. And some results were for a game that I know he likes. There was one site that I guess lists people's Facebook, Twitter, etc., profiles or something, and it had his name and his screenname (the name before the "@" in an email address), but it had an age that has to be older than he is, plus a picture that didn't look like him (and not as in an ugly guy posting a picture of Brad Pitt, either). That really made me confused.

Not that it matters if he is gay...because that's totally fine, but apparently I have bad gaydar (). There are some things that make me lean more towards thinking that he is gay, and maybe not out yet, like he said something before about keeping his manly word, and if something is girly...I don't know, he like, ugh, hard to explain, but he doesn't want it...(we work with donations, so girly items, you know...), but he told me that he had had a girlfriend when he lived in a different state.

I feel a little creeperish typing all about my coworker in here, haha, and I'm almost paranoid that he would read this, since we've become friends, but anyhoo...

Is there anything that should be a tip-off? Maybe he's bi? Or maybe he's gay. Heck, he could be straight. I wouldn't be surprised by anything. Selfishly, I want him to be straight and I want us to get closer, but of course, I'm married, and most people probably wouldn't want to get involved, and I don't even know how far I would go in my situation, and wow, I'm almost getting off-topic.

That's my story. :p

There's nothing strange about Googling somebody you know. Companies do it all the time to screen their applicants. I once Googled a girl from one of my classes and it turned out she had quiet another 'image' online than she did in class. Never look at her the same. :D

Well, if you are attracted to him, you are attracted to him. Nothing's gonna stop that. I don't know what your marriage is like and I don't need to know. But from what you've written, I definitly get the impression you're smitten by him. I mean, the excitement you feel about him almost jumps of the screen.

I don't know what that says about your marriage. That's something only you can decide. It doesn't *need* to mean anything. Just because people are married, doesn't mean they stop being interested in the opposite sex (very hetero-centered of me, I know, in a 'gay thread'!).

From what you've written, I can't possibly say whether or not he's gay. My 'gaydar' is pretty malfunctional, too! I'm always the last person to sheepishly notice: "oh, is he/she gay?!" and then all other people go: "duh!" :D

Maybe somebody who is gay could help you further? Hmmm, where could we find one on UD?

Gay people on UD Goliath? Please.

Anyway, I'm gay, and terrible at guessing this stuff. Unless he says or does anything to really suggest he is (talk about guys fondly...or make out with them) I'd assume he's straight. Especially with the "had girlfriend" bit and yes I'm aware of the "possibilities", but I usually generally go with statistics.

Thanks, Goliath! And even if he were bi, I'd be totally fine with that. :p I'm so bad. But even if he is gay, he's cool, so he'd just be my hot gay friend, no worries. :p

Haha, smitten. :p Maybe... :D

Any similar experiences or advice would be amazing! :)

This is only vaguely related to homosexuality, but there are a couple articles in this link worth reading.

Oops, I didn't see your response last night, F-H! How can you just assume that someone is straight? And maybe he lied about having a girlfriend? I don't know him too well yet, even though we've spent a whole work week plus together (:p), but I don't know. Ugh, it is hard to know. See, if it weren't for that weird site that had his name but I highly doubt it was him, the "man seeking a man" site usually would make me think something, unless he was just curious...I have no idea. I mean, I know straight guys that have very "feminine" qualities, in their mannerisms and whatnot, and even ones that have been gay or bi curious, so everyone is different and it's hard to tell.

Avaitor, maybe I should just get in a Disney discussion with him...maybe ask some of his favorite characters, then ask about his favorite princess...then maybe venture into the bangable princess question. :p

I'll keep you all posted...we're hanging out tomorrow outside of work, so if I detect anything, I'll let you know. :p

I think people usually assume somebody is straight, unless told otherwise, because the statistical chance of a person being straight is much higher than him/her being gay. Heterosexuality is 'normal' and homosexuality is a 'deviation' that only accounts for about 10% of people. (No judgement here, just explaining 'the norm'.)

Everything is possible, but why would you assume it? I've known straight people who lied about having a girlfriend/boyfriend, because they resented being seen as 'that poor single guy/girl'...

Well, I guess I can't assume in this case his orientation because I just have no idea...really, it's perplexing. :p And about the girlfriend thing, if someone wanted to appear straight, then maybe they'd lie about something like that...?

Maybe tomorrow I'll learn more. We're at work now, and I'm in a pretty crappy mood today, so part of me isn't even interested right now.

Not that it's a big deal, and I know that I'm making something out of nothing, but earlier today he mentioned that he might just want to go home right after his doctor's appointment (I'm driving him, and then we were going to do lunch or something)...I didn't say anything, but I feel like he's using me for my car... We'll see. And he seems like a nice guy, and we have fun at work, but why wouldn't he want to hang out for a little...? Who needs guys...for anything...I'm hanging out with the girls tomorrow night and all will be well. :)

(I totally don't mean any offense to any males here by my comment. I'm just in one of those moods. :p)

Is it appropriate for me to post on this thread? The risqueness of this board is off the charts! Anyway:
I am a Virgin, so I have not yet received my ticket to the Love Train yet! There are plenty of paths for me to take for this one  . But I prefer "The Straight and Narrow."

Through my little situation, I feel like it's a good thing to learn more about being gay, if that makes sense.

So, he and I hung out today after his appointment- we went to the mall, got breakfast, went to the Disney Store and a clothing store that I wanted to go to. Then we ate some more. Good times. His sexuality isn't even an issue to me now...he's just a really cool guy, and it doesn't matter.

But, we were on his porch with his dog, and when I was leaving, he got an umbrella and held it over me while I walked and got in the car. Not that that's only something that straight guys would do, but do gay guys want to be "gentlemanly"? Because he said something about wanting to be a gentleman or something.

So, just wondering if that's something that gay guys like to do, be gentlemanly...?

Of course it is. There are Straight-acting Gay guys not just the flamboyant ones.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.
