The World of Henry Orient: I've had this in my collection for over a year now but have just gotten around to watching it! Utterly adorable. Two misfit teen girls chase a renowned concert pianist (Peter Sellers in a floppy wig) all over New York. Paula Prentiss is his nervous, married mistress; and Angela Lansbury is the icy, man-eating mother who sets her sights on him too!

A little unfair to the Alex Forest character (then later- a little unfair to the audience), but thoroughly smart, skillfully edited, exciting, and horrific. A very good thriller in every way. Not always fair as drama, but an excellent thriller.

Sleazy and not always likable, but it covers every single base of an erotic murder mystery and then some. A fascinating who-dun-it. And sometimes: very funny. Sharon Stone's performance really is jaw-dropping.

I used to have 'Fatal Attraction' in my collection but even though I enjoyed it, there was just something repellant and unattractive about keeping it. I agree that Glenn Close's character never gets her big payoff--the ending was changed, something which bothered Ms Close--so perhaps that's another reason why I was never totally satisfied with it, too.

In what movie has it been done before? If you're speaking about Big, it's the complete opposite.ajmrowland wrote:17 Again-considering it's been done before, I thought the movie was good. All the cast did a good job, Ned's scenes being totally geekified made for a few nice references(particularly ones that I know), and overall, the film is much more watchable than most of Disney Channel, if mostly in terms of straying into territory DC wouldn't go within the same galaxy of.

I watched 17 Again yesterday also. I really enjoyed it, Zac was pretty funny/awkward, which was good. I'm slowly but surely liking him more and more.

He actually doesn't seem too bad. I'll eventually watch it because I love Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann, and Michelle Trachtenberg. I also really want to see Zac's new film with Claire Danes.xxhplinkxx wrote:I watched 17 Again yesterday also. I really enjoyed it, Zac was pretty funny/awkward, which was good. Drop Dead Gorgeous - brilliant, but terribly overlooked satire/dark comedy about a small town beauty pageant. It's also one of the few movies I can watch over and over again, it never gets old. And it has an amazing cast ensemble: Kirsten Dunst, Ellen Barkin, Allison Janney (who's a real scene-stealer), Kirstie Alley, Denise Richards, Brittany Murphy and, in her first movie role, Amy Adams. Highly recommended! If you're too lazy to rent it, someone uploaded the whole movie to YouTube. See it ASAP.

I didn't watch the first half, but Bobby was watching it, and I wanted to go to bed, and it was on: The Bone Collector. It's not the type of movie that I'd usually watch, but I like Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington, and it was on. I was pretty involved with the story, and it wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on, and Bobby filled me in, too. It was suspenseful, sort of- I could kind of see where things were going, sort of. It was entertaining enough, and I'm guessing that AMC edits films, since I think it would've been gorier for its R rating. We had reduced our DirecTV package a while ago, and he just upgraded again for the football package, but I'm grateful to have more channels again!

Thank You for Smoking - I actually really liked this movie. I don't at all understand the Katie Holmes hate. She was only in it for about five minutes anyway, so it's not like she had much screen time to work with. Adam Brody was hilarious, and Aaron Eckhart did a fine job.

On Friday, I watched Singin' in the Rain, one of my favorite movie musicals ever.
Today, I watched Baby Mama. It was good, not great. Amy Poehler was really good.

Brittany Murphy in Girl, Interrupted was scary. And disturbing. The last thing she was in that movie was touching.
Nobody really seems to talk about her as an actress very much. But her performance in films like Girl, Interrupted and Freeway shows an actress who should have gotten better offers than Uptown Girls and Just Married.

Well, I was thinking of the scene on the steps when she was like, "Have fun in Florida." Haha, but yes, her character had many layers, including being a disturbing young woman.Lazario wrote:Brittany Murphy in Girl, Interrupted was scary. And disturbing. SPOILER
& ADULT LANGUAGE Alert.
My best friend's favorite was:
"I want my fucking clothes!!"
"Than you'll have to eat something. Won't you?"

She probably had more going on in the book. All we saw was the disturbing side. Remember her eyes in the doorway when we first see her? The glazed look in her eyes in the ice cream parlor? And "have fun in Florida" was tragic and sad. Maybe even moreso than her dead body hanging from the ceiling.PeterPanfan wrote:Well, I was thinking of the scene on the steps when she was like, "Have fun in Florida." Hey! Some advice, just: don't point your fuckin' finger at crazy people!Cordy_Biddle wrote:Oh, I love Girl, Interrupted. So many choice lines and exceptional performances. I try to watch it at least once every six months. Don't point your finger at crazy people!
