Batman Beyond

I never watched a single episode of the series before aside from The Return of the Joker movie.

Is kind of weird to wath the series. I mean, you know is the same universe and the same people working on it... so because of that it feels the same. But at the same time everything is so new.

Id does take a while to get used to this, like all the episodes of the First Season but it's ok since on the Second Season there are 26 episodes to fully enjoy by themsleves.

Later on... Justice League. I'm not THAT particularly interested in this First Season since it has some of the most seen episodes. But it still is JL and the unseen episodes and extras will make it worth.

I'm watching King of the Hill where Hank tries to get the high flow toilets back into his city because all of the low flows takes about 3 to 4 or in Peggy's case 7 flushes.

I'm watching Tiara Girls on MTV right now. Some of the girls on this show drive me crazy, not as bad as the ones on My Super Sweet 16. That show drives me crazy because of how spoiled the girls are.

Well, I watched (past tense) the following:

The Street because this week's episode had new Doctor Who Matt Smith in the main role.

The Street is a excellent programme. Really, its a series of one off plays, each with a superb cast, and stunning scripts. But of course, one off plays don't really play on TV these days - you need something to market so the format is that each episode takes place in one of the houses on the same street - allowing characters from their episode to cameo in other character's episodes. Each episode is a delight - I'm just pleased to see something on TV which isn't a reality show, a game show or a medical/police procedural - long may the Street continue..

The episode I saw was a re-run of "Taxi"

Ashes to Ashes

I simply cannot believe how good the second series of Ashes to Ashes is. While the first was by no means poor, it suffered from being the follow-up to Life On Mars - especially after the sheer brilliance of the Life On Mars ending (and I mean the gutsy 'proper' ending - not the US cop-out ending :)) and at times the characters almost seemed to become parodies of themselves as the series was perhaps a little too humourous.

However this second year (and announced as the last year) is amazing. I think I can say in all honestly it tops the BBC Life on Mars. There's a smart and mysterious on-going arc, but each episode is also perfectly watchable and understandable as a single story. The humour is back to being character based, rather than situational or slapstick. And we're promised an ending to the series which will leave us all talking even more than the Life on Mars ending; based on the arc so far, I believe them. (Odd, I've just read on Wikipedia a 3D episode is being considered for the third series, which definitely contradicts what I read in a newspaper before this series started [shrugs]).

The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin Via DVD

I got the recently released BBC Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin DVD set, mainly because it included the previously unreleased The Legacy of Reginald Perrin series. Having watched that last week, I've revisited the original series (interest is high in Reggie at the moment because the BBC has a remake/re-imagining series currently on air - the original is from the mid 1970s).

I must say, watching the original first series again, I'm struck by how slow it is, and how little some of the characters appear. Reggie's brother-in-law Jimmy doesn't appear that often for example. But it doesn't matter, after the first episode or two once you've settled in to the characters and story, the rest of the episodes fly by. And unlike most comedies, Reggie Perrin does have a story - originally it was a novel, and the whole series (and its sequels) are serials, each episode following on from the last. Each series also has a proper beginning, middle and end.

Being from the 1970's some of the humour is somewhat politically incorrect - it could be accused of being sexist, mildly racist and homophobic; but it usually uses such attitudes to belittle those harbouring them (but not always).

I started watching 30 Rock from the beginning today. I like it so far. It's one of the shows that I don't watch regularly that I'm planning to catch up with. After this, I'm on to How I Met Your Mother. :)

Scrubs - "My (Own) American Girl"
One of my absolute favorite episodes of the entire show!

Will & Grace - "Mad Dogs and Average Men," "Brothers: A Love Story," "My Uncle the Car"

The Jeffersons - "Rich Man's Disease," "Jenny's Low"

French & Saunders - "Offers" (there's more to it, I'm not sure of the full title) - an extended version of the sketch on YouTube from the original episode. BBC's DVD release cuts parts out (at least, the American version does)

Ashes to Ashes

The season finale (but not series finale, as the BBC confirmed today a third and final series will screen next year after all).

What can I say except

If I thought the Shazza/Wedding Dress moment couldn't be topped, then the final scenes in the present day really did send me over the edge.

Will his ending be talked about more than the ending to Life on Mars? Perhaps not - the UK ending to LoM was raised many (ultimately unanswerable) questions, but primarily was closure to Sam's story. This ending is bound to get people talking and discussing all sorts of existential theories about which "reality" is real, but it's doesn't have closure.

I'm not sure if this was intended to be the final end of Alex Drake's story or not. I'm pretty sure until recently the plan was for this series to be the end of Ashes to Ashes. If it was the "proper" end... then perhaps it would have more impact then Sam's fate.

Over the past week, I've been watching the fifth season of Will & Grace. I'm a newcomer to this show, and so far it's been getting better and better with each season! It's become one of my top 5 favorites. :)

Also, (and I hate to admit this one) I've been hooked on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! It's about as ridiculous as TV can get, but something about it just keeps reeling me in (*cough*Speidi*cough*). I guess I just have a weakness for summer reality shows! :P
