Looks authentic, but so do these, they're cheaper, and they end sooner:

I just recieved my Snow White DVD and seen that the Disc 2 wasn't there, I was about to e-mail seller when I figured to read the auction first and it clearly states that Disc 2 is missing

Does this look authentic: http://cgi.ebay.com/Atlantis-The-Lost-E ... dZViewItem
Because I would like to buy, but I would have to ask my parental units first.

Well, I know it says eBay, but:

The one going for $38.98. They are 100%, so maybe I should look in to it. What do you think?

Okay, I just purchased a copy of The Lion King Gift Set. I really regret not buying it in 2003 when I first looked at one. Anyway, I am very picky about my Disney DVD's. I guess having OCD doesn't help that much either. I like to personally inspect the slipcovers and everything before I buy them, but I wasn't able to do this.
I have some questions about the DVD. I'm sure the copy I received is legit, but I just have to see what some of you think. I compared my DVD with my cousin's Lion King DVD, which wasn't part of the Gift Set. For some reason there seemed to be little differences in the paper under the plastic or vinyl of the case. The DVD inside the Gift Set was sealed and had one of the stickers on the top, and a gold Buena Vista stamp. The DVD's are also positioned differently than those in my cousin's DVD.
So, is the Buena Vista stamp supposed to be gold? How many character sketches should be included? Did The Lion King have one of the Senitype film frames? Was the DVD inside the Gift Set box supposed to be sealed? I don't remember the Aladdin or Cinderella DVD's being sealed. Does anyone else have a LK DVD with the discs placed like this? Look at reyquila's pictures of the Walt Disney Treasures DVD's. http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... &start=280. I have Beauty and the Beast and the DVD's are like that, but I don't know if some of The Lion King DVD's are like that also.
Here is a link to the auction item, this is the DVD I am talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1
Sorry for the long post. Please tell me I'm just overreacting.

Hey guys and gals, why waste your money with eBay and take a chance on getting a 'fake Disney' title. Maybe we should have a thread for titles people are looking for and we can help each other find those missing titles.
I have resources here in Wichita that can help me find those hard to find titles for a lot less money than those price-gougers at eBay.
All of you need to boycott eBay and start reading Gold Mine magazine and attending Collector's Conventions to pick up your "long-lost" Disney titles. You will save a bundle of cash, and find that I am right about those jerks at eBay ripping you off for such high prices when the product is probably worth 1/3 of which he is asking.
I think that a thread where we can all help each other find those elusive Disney titles would be a good thing.

Well, I can tell you that the case isn't (it came in a white case), but that doesn't mean that the actually disc is legit. If it's possible, I would e-mail the seller and look at their feedback (99.3% looks pretty good). I can't tell you, but I'm sure someone else can.
Edit: I looked and apparently the seller has sold some bootlegs in the past......

This seems a better deal, but the seller won't clarify whether he ships just to the US or not - I asked him. Strangely, he also seems to be selling the same DVD under different usernames.

BACK AWAY FROM THIS SELLER! I bought a fake Disney DVD from them once (Cinderella 2, you can even see my feedback comment LOL). It was a very very very good fake, but a fake none the less. I got a refund though and he didn't argue with me...Julian Carter wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/STILL-SEALED-FANTAS ... dZViewItem

OK, Here's a listing for one that's 100% genuine..

look carefully at the dvd. You'll notice that the corners of the insert are much more rounded then the one by bowrider. Also look at the top security label. Notice how on the bootleg the DVD logo is so small while on this one it's a large logo. Also, Leon shows the picture of the buena vista logo stamp on the back. I've bought DVDs from him before and never had a problem. Little bit more pricey but at least you're getting the real thing! It's really hard to buy DVDs from Amazon and Ebay just for this reason. ...

Look at his feedback, he has 48 negatives and 18 ratings mutually withdrawn, and all of his items sold are set to private(dead giveaway)Julian Carter wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/STILL-SEALED-FANTAS ... dZViewItem

-We were very disappointed. This was a scam,a copied disc that didn't even play.
-Obvious fake, bad quality bootleg.Am pursuing through various agencies; IP Theft
-I'm concerned the cd is a bootleg and the seller will not respond to my email.
-Being sold a fake item =(
.....the problem is that most people have no idea what a bootleg is, so when people get one they think its a real dvd.
Also the first one has to be a fake, look at the sellers other items for sale.....the lion king, beauty and the beast, and sleeping beauty should not have corners that round.

wow! that Fantasia set is certainly a very believable bootleg! I guess you really have to be a true collector to distinguish the boots from the authentics when it comes to Disney DVDs. Anyway, I'm here looking at my authentic Fantasia DVD (from the Anthology set), and I noticed somthing very small, but it might prove to help you. When you look at the cover, look where the "Disney Dust" / stars are. In the authentic copy, there are a number of stars around "Walt Disney" and at the border between the gold "SPECIAL 60TH ANNIIVERSARY EDITION" and the background, there are two very small stars, one is almost cut in half, while an even smaller one is seen completely.
AUTHENTIC:

BOOTLEG:

It's best to use small things like that and the rounded corners to determine if any DVD set is a bootleg, because its things like that that pirates don't pay attention to.
Oh, and reading reviews are always helpful too!

Good catch brotherbear! I'm at work so I didn't have time to examine things that closely.. I do know that seller is a scam artist though. The thing is, it's verry hard to tell when things are fake sometimes. The thing that tipped me off about Cinderella 2 was the fact that the metallic silver on the case was a solid silver and didn't show different colours when the light hit it. Also the front insert was alot thicker then it should be. If I didn't know alot about the DVDs or what to look for I probably woudln't have noticed anything wrong! Now that I have an authentic copy I can see that I was right to return it!
