Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
They're really pushing Merida worldwide in spite of Brave's mediocre overseas performance. Though we'll never see any sales data for individual princesses, it'll be interesting to see where she is 5 years from now....
Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
It would be nice for Rapunzel to have retained some of her sass from the movie like Merida has in her Princess clipart.
Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
I think it would be interesting to see a list comparing each princesses sales data though your right we'll probably never see it. I suspect Ariel, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Belle are the biggest sellers. I think Merida will end up in the middle of the road probably somewhere towards the bottom honestly.PatrickvD wrote:They're really pushing Merida worldwide in spite of Brave's mediocre overseas performance. Ariel
Cinderella
Rapunzel
Belle
Snow White
Jasmine
Aurora
Tiana
Merida
Mulan
Pocahontas
That' my guesstimation on their sales success.

I think Belle is more popular than Aurora. I don't know how popular she is honestly. She is plastered all over the merchandise because she is in pink but I think Belle and at least Jasmine are more popular. I know more little girls who like/dress up like Belle and Jasmine than Aurora. As for Snow I was putting her so high because she seems to get a lot of merchandise and a lot of hardcore Disney fans I know sight her as a favorite due to her being the first. I think Snow White might be more popular than we think and Aurora might not be as popular.
But I could be totally wrong.

As far as I can tell most people don't even know Aurora's name. Even I have trouble remembering it sometimes.

Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
It's currently available at Toys R Us for those interested, I saw it there about a week ago. I flipped through it and there are more Merida pics inside of course, but from what I could tell there wasn't anything we hadn't already seen. I thought about picking it up but was too cheap to spend the $5.bruno_wbt wrote:Merida is the cover of the July/August US Princess Magazine:

Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
Thanks all the new images Bruno! You're really good at finding Disney Princess stuff!
If you find more new Merida pictures, please don't hesitate to share!
The British Disney Princess website has finally been updated with Merida but they have included her in her CG form, undoubtedly because of the controversy. Also, in the new batch of Disney Princess storybooks featuring Merida, Merida's dress is different. They've changed her epilogue dress to her adventure dress and covered her shoulders.

Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
It is such a breath of fresh air seeing that last shot of the Princesses with no glitter on their outfits-feels like they have been glitter coated for forever and a day!!
And it certainly seems like Disney have listened when it comes to Merida...

Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
I thought of people complaining about Merida how one report said she's more Sparkly, and I thought of this just now when I read it again.

Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
I just don't think Merida should be a Disney princess at-all. I have said it from day 1. Don't get me wrong I still understand she is a 'princess' character from Disney. Just not a Disney Princess. Not just because she isn't beautiful enough, but because she is so uniquely Pixar that her entire design says Pixar, not Disney.
I think only characters from Disney animated movies should class as legit Disney characters. I do not see Woody, Buzz, Nemo, Sully, Wall-E, etc as Disney characters. I see them as Pixar characters. I also see Merida as a Pixar character and therefore should have been a Pixar princess, the first one.

Merida is looking really good on all those covers. She has adapted to the Disney princess life rather quickly. Her mother is very proud I'm sure.

This! Merida is not a Disney character from The Walt Disney Animation Studios, and should never have been a part of the Disney Princess franchise.WarriorDreamer wrote:I just don't think Merida should be a Disney princess at-all. Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful
Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
Exactly! And as a result, they are trying desperately to mould her into the Princess canon, but the end result is....she just doesn't fit. As she wasn't designed to in the first place.

Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
Yes this isn't real life, this isn't high school. (Although sometimes it feels like it is.) Merida wouldn't feel left out if she wasn't part of the popular girls group. And yet I feel like they are stripping her of all her individualism and making her look too traditional Disney princess to 'fit in.'

Re: Merida to Join the Disney Princess Line
I think that the only reason that Merdia is there is because of the " Disney is Sexist " and " Terrible Towards Women because they force women to be with a Prince/ Man " Complainers.
Something like this

I think that if it wasn't for them Merdia would of stayed a Pixar only project.
