That outfit is so much better for her! Hairdo is awkward. It's up in a bun and trailing along her whole back at the same time.
People complained so much about Mulan being decked out in gold because she's a humble farmer's girl who wouldn't be comfortable wearing it.
That's a very traditional Chinese royal look. Nothing awkward about it going by it's princess franchise routine. Is it something Mulan would wear? Not really but that all flies right out the window the moment she's implicated into the Princess franchise. So judging it by the standpoint it is going for, it's fine.

Like Belle right?
Belle's looks like it was done after she left her hair grow out more. Mulan's waist length hair is in a bun and two foot hair extensions are attached that and that's strange.
So, whats the status on the new dresses and hair styles making their way into the parks ? I know Cinderella has been done, and Belle .. was Aurora next ? Figured Ariel had to be in the mix somewhere too ... What will her new park dress be ? Her dress was already different from the movie version of herself anyway; was a bit the wedding gown, and a bit of the pink dress...but in green ?
Aurora's new look debuted in the parks back in March or April I believe:
Her crown/necklace and hair all look good. Her dress is very pretty I love the floral pattern and the shade of pink. I'm pretty sure Snow White's new look is coming out sometime in the summer. Ariel is in the fall most likely to go along with her Bu Ray coming out. Not sure if Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan are getting their looks updated.
I have seen Ariel's new dress in both the green and pink versions .... suppose she will stick to the green for the park? Her hair is the same, just curlier so doubt that would change much.
A lot of people have said they really like the changes to the Princesses in the parks, that they translate a lot better than the clip art; has anyone here seen them in person ?
Well they are Princesses after all....you'd think in that great big palace of theirs they would have a closet with more than one dress !! Though to be fair, she is in blue in Paris a whole lot more than in the other parks. . .
you know, I don't think Disney gives younger fans the credit they deserve; I think children can recognise the difference between blue Aurora and silvery-blue Cinderella, you know ?
Interesting to note though that in the new Princess Fairytale Hall, in the portraits corridor, all the Princesses are sporting their original look, not their new design.

That's because Imagineering is different from consumer products.
Missing Ariel's old look already. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but still. Why do they think overly sparkly and sheer = pretty? It equals "I look like I came out of a Halloween costume store."
That actually looks a lot like her pink dress to be fair, just in green. Don't mind it at all....and very glad she hasn't got that darn starfish glued to her head anymore!

And than GOD for that.
But Disney Consumer Products is now dictating how the characters should appear in person at the parks, which is unfortunate.
