I'm glad we have confirmation although I'm cautious about how long that will last.

The director, Adam Shankman, posted the script titles for his next two projects and listed Disenchanted first which makes me believe it will go into production before Hocus Pocus 2. Here's hoping!

Adam Shankman wrote:Thanks with all of my heart dear Disney. Looks like I'll be working on a looooooottttt of magic for awhile... I feel incredibly honored and humbled to be guiding forward these two Disney crown jewel legacies. My only hope is to honor those who came before me and build something new and exciting, as I desperately try to not let down the fans and enchant the new initiates! Fingers crossed!

Isn't Brigitte Hales the one who wrote scripts for Once Upon a Time by playing with Funko Pops?

I don't know about the Funko Pop bit (did that really happen?), but yes, she was a writer on OUAT.

so Hocus Pocus 2 has been confirmed for Disney + but not Disenchanated. I still think it will end up at the streaming service, since they will share the same director.

I like how he called Enchanted one of Disney's crown jewels. You would never be able to tell with how Disney treats the film though.

Oh lord, I'm not sure I even want to hear about this.

Oh ok, that's really not so bad. I was under the impression that she wrote the scripts for OUAT based on her playtime with the pops which would have explained why the writing was so scatterbrained and juvenile.

Lol... Yeah I might have over exaggerated. People thought they were meant to be clues, there was a speculation going around that Hook would kill Emma.

Thanks for posting all that, Sotiris! Your post made me so happy. :D Well, until they don't start with the actual production, we can't be completely sure the film will actually be made, but it looks much more likely now. The text that accompanied his post even had a reference to Enchanted, so you could be right that it will go into production first.

Thank goodness I wasn't aware of this back when the show was on. Ironically enough it was more the opposite with Emma "killing" Hook.

I just hope the Enchanted sequel doesn't end up being a Disney+ exclusive like everything else lately.

Q: What are you working on right now?

Alan Menken: I'm working on Disenchanted, the sequel to Enchanted. Stephen Schwartz and I are writing a bunch of new songs for that.

Q: Alan Menken recently talked about working on the music for the sequel, Disenchanted. Do you know anything about that project, and do you have any interest in coming back?

Jodi Benson: I don’t know anything about it, but of course, I would love to come back! Sam needs to come back and be a part of it. I did hear they are working on it and that is so fun. I don’t know if I’ll be part of it or anything like it, but gosh, it would certainly be fun. Another neat opportunity to get to work on such a great project.

I know that this will probably have traditionally animated sequences, but they'll probably be done at a different studio like in Mary Poppins Returns, which is a shame. It just proves that Disney never should have abandoned traditional animation, because CGI is not a progression of that, they're completely different mediums. Thinking about this, or Mary Poppins or Who Framed Roger Rabbit with CGI instead of traditional animation, they just wouldn't look right and lose their points. I don't know, it's just sad that Disney used to be known for their traditional animation when it started till the early 2000's, and now it's known for making everything (CGI films, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and remakes) but traditional animation.

I suppose we should just count our lucky stars that the first Enchanted had hand-drawn animation considering it came out in the time that Disney had given up on it. And also that these high-profile films like Enchanted and Mary Poppins exist for Disney to make sequels to that have to feature hand-drawn animation.

James Baxter was a Disney artist, and he's so talented (along with the staff at his studio, of course), so yes, if WDAS did its own hand-drawn animation, that'd be preferable, but I'm good with Baxter's studio doing it.

James Baxter Animation has been defunct since 2008. The best studio for the job now is Duncan Studio which was founded and still run by former Disney animator, Ken Duncan. He was the supervising animator of Thomas, Megara, Jane, and Captain Amelia. His studio did the animation for Mary Poppins Returns.
