And by the way, I don't like the poster because it reminds me of a few moments in Diary of a Wimpy Kid when Greg takes advantage of everything for his own selfish gain. And how he's using Piglet reminds me of how Greg threw a football to Rowley, ultimately causing the latter to break his hand and the former not even seeming to be sorry for it.

Are those official Disney comics? They are hilarious.

Both Tigger and Pooh have rather self-centered personalities (come to think of it, owl too), but Tigger is more aggressive whilst Pooh is passive. I mean Pooh inviting himself to devour all of Rabbit's honey says it all!

That’s why I never really liked Tigger. I always felt sorry for Rabbit. Plus, I always disliked how Rabbit was made into a villain by most of the other characters, when all he ever wanted was for Tigger to leave his freakin' garden alone. Seriously.

Thank you for posting the comic strips, LySs. I hadn't seen any of them before. Pooh giving Owl a calendar to keep track of how his speaks at a club made me giggle. I think Pooh could do that without realising it's an insulting gesture.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it's meant to be taken however you choose to take it. Just because it certainly CAN take an "offensive" meaning does not mean that that is the one and only way it was MEANT.

It has multiple meanings. Each one of them funny to a certain group of people. For the innocent, here's Piglet about to become the victim of another of Pooh's silly ideas. And so, we get "Oh Pooh." As in, "Ohhh, that Pooh Bear. What am I going to do with him?"

The entire time that Walt Disney was alive, the world was constantly changing. And for his entire life, he kept up with those changes. Today, the world happens to enjoy humor that can be taken more than one way. And so, I really, really think that Walt would not be "rolling in his grave" over something like this. Instead, I think he'd say something like "Oh, yeah... that's great. That'll get a kick out the kids and the adults as well. We need as much light-hearted funny business as we can get in this thing. After all, that's what Pooh Bear's all about."

Well, there's a thing called context, and the fact is that this joke is playing with the idea of Winnie's name and a common means of expressing annoyance, both of which just happen to sound and be written exactly like a particular colloquial word meaning faeces. To associate Winnie the Pooh and faeces in this case is like thinking of stones when someone mentions the word rock in a sentence about popular music, or thinking of flowers when reading a recipe involving flour. It's not as though the poster has the gang hanging around a lavatory.

Anyway, let's try not and turn this into a debate on excretion. It's ultimately very unpleasant. I personally think the poster could do with being less minimalistic, but it does its job ultimately, I suppose.

Do you think that the movie stands a chance in making a profit?

The Pooh franchise is seen by the public as targeted towards preschoolers and toddlers exclusively. Even kids above the age of 8-9 consider themselves too old to be watching Pooh. Also, releasing the movie on the same day as Harry Potter 7.2 will not help either. I highly doubt that Disney's "plan" to release the movie the same day so as to gain the family audience with kids too young to see Potter will succeed.

Perhaps the film's very small budget (35 million) will help in making some sort of profit at least.

i dont know about other countries, but pooh bear is hugely popular over here, not only with little kids, but teens and adults as well, though i think women like him more than men. his popularity seens to drop with the tweens and then he gets picked up again once they hit 12 or 13.

i think the new movie will do really well, but im hoping they will hold the release til the next xmas holidays. otherwise it will be out in the 2 week long school term hols, where it might not get as many viewers if its up against harry potter.
