Why? They said a mermaids kiss saves you from drowning. Shouldn't that sort of explain everything? I don't get why people question Philip's fate. Syrena saved him. Or did I watch a different film?
Syrena did definitly save Philip. He felt guilty towards her with the whole tear thing and it was made clear earlier they loved eachoter and that Syrena wouldn't harm Philip because he was different then the rest of the pirates. In the end Philip asked Syrena for forgiveness. She said that he only had to ask her to save him. he did not literally say: 'Save me', but something like: 'forgive me'. Then she kissed him as a sign she did and to seal their love. Even the way in which Syrena pulled Philip in the water was quite gentle and she didn't drag him under, they were embracing eachoter while going into the dept.

Tempted by the 5 disc combo since it has a $8 coupon. I'm sure Amazon's price will drop before release.

Gonna go with the 5-disc 3D set as the cover is most like the covers for the previous three.

Amazon has an $8 coupon when you pre-order the 5-Disc Combo pack of On Stranger Tides. I just pre-ordered it, and even though the 3D disc will be useless, at least I'm getting the bonus features disc and the digital copy (which I'm actually a fan of), along with the film.

Umm... besides a 3D Blu copy of the film and a digital copy, what else does the 5-disc pack have that the regular combo pack doesn't? A second Blu-ray disc? :?

Probably just the 3D Blu-ray and Digital Copy... and a 3D slipcover. That's it. The coupon (if Disney issues one) will probably only be good on the 3D combo pack as well.

The 3-D Combo Pack has:

1 3-D BD
2 Regular BD
1 DVD
1 Digital Copy

Whereas the regular Combo Pack has:

1 BD
1 DVD

So if you want the second BD disc (which will contain bonus features), you have to go with the 3-D combo pack.

I feel kinda tardy to the party, but last night I had the privilege to finally see On Stranger Tides in IMAX 3D. This was my first 3D experience, and personally, I loved it. I didn't have issues with reduced colors, and the 3D really got me caught up into the movie.

To me, this is a step in the right direction for the Pirates series. It's fresh, original, hilarious, and epic. I enjoyed it much better than 2 and 3, but it's still not quite up to the level of the first. I LOVED Angelica, and I can't really give a solid explanation why. She's a much better character than Elizabeth, and the ending scene with her on the island with Jack is funny stuff.

The mermaid scene was spectacular, and all the scenes with Barbossa were fantastic. It still has some flaws that people have mentioned, like the Spaniards, but I feel like Angelica and Blackbeard's motives were not developed enough. I like Angelica's character enough to accept her sudden devotion to Blackbeard (the wanting a father explanation was weak). Blackbeard is even stranger, I didn't care for him at all.

Overall, I'd give a 9/10. I can't wait to pick this up on Blu-ray!

Based on the above news story, I'd find if hard to believe that a "Pirates 5" wasn't going to be made.

It certainly does.

Wow, to think the film I thought it's be like Shrek 4 will soon outgross all it's predecessors (thanks inflation + 3D). I wonder if it has enough in it to overtake Return Of The King.
