I can't believe I'm posting this after seeing the amazing cover art that came before me. Especially the Jungle Book one. But I made this with paint (and a limited source of clipart). Here we go,

Scaramagna, those covers are amazing! I wish Disney would do their covers as artistic as yours. With the right amount of extras, that would be a collector's dream. Great job!

Scaramanga, am I right in thinking you posted those on a Dutch forum before? It may have been a year or longer ago... I loved them then and I love them now. Seriously, I'd buy them all if they were on sale.

@danfrandes: 13 samples ... 31 done so far

Some could use updates as I've come across better resources since I made them. (first cover was finished september 2005) But I want to finish the collection before I start any possible revisions.

@akhenaten: sometimes they're high-resolution stills, sometimes they're parts of posters scanned at high-resolution, sometimes they're patched together from 20 or more screencaps (Alice in Wonderland being one of the best examples) and in most cases some post-processing makes it look the way you see it now. Oh and lots of concrete ... they wouldn't look the way they look without TONS of concrete (and the occasional dash of wood)

@Nandor: can't say I ever have ... but then again someone may have posted previews of them somewhere else.

Here's the rest of them:

Image
(Background recycled from Cuzco)

Image
(Neverland on the back are several patched together, sometimes rescaled, screencaps. I only recently acquired a real hi-res version of it thanks to the PE due this March (together with tons of other artwork for the movie))

Image
(Pieced together from photos, artwork and some screencaps, the vertical banner features art by Eyvind Earle)

Image
(From the movies' main titles)

Image
(Screencap mixed with a photo from an actual carpet)

Image
(Clouds mixed with screencaps, stills and some really dusty artwork that needed serious restoring before I could even consider using it)

Image

Image

Image

Image
(Mostly pieces from the very beginning of the movie)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image
(The Hubble space telescope ... everyone's best friend ...)

Image
(Mix Caribbean water with concrete and .... tada ...)

Image

Currently working on Ichabod and Mr. Toad but recreating the logo is proving to be a challenge. (Before you ask: yes, I recreate all the logos at high-resolution ... mostly based on low-resolution screencaps from the dvd)

Just an example of how much work goes into it, before:

Image

and after some "slight" tweaking:

(only "tweaked" that which was going to be visible on the cover)

That was a neat idea to incorperate the "stain-glass story" on the Beauty and the Beast cover. I'd be cool to see Disney incorporate it in their re-release.

Can you explain how you created the discs? I'd love to know. :D

Belgica is Belgium, in another language, I think. According to wiki it's part of the original Latin term for Belgium.

I really really loved the ones for Great Mouse Detective, Aladdin, Peter Pan, and Atlantis!

That's what I originally had as a tagline, but it was just too long .. wouldn't fit unless the size of the type was seriously reduced. Every once in a while one needs to compromise.

And as Escapay said, Belgica comes from the Roman province Gallia Belgica. The tagline is also related to it, in plain English it means :"Of all the Gauls, the Belgians are the bravest" ... as written down by Julius Caesar, wasn't he a nice guy ? :P
" ... Omnium gallorum fortissimi Belgae sunt ... "

Well, that person said he/she created them. It was on the DVD.nl-forum. I just remember the HotR-cover was different, it only had the black cow (I don't even remember her name... maybe I should watch it again).
I never forgot those covers, I thought they were very inspired, original and extremely well-done. I still do ^^ If only Disney would release these for real. Is there any chance of you posting high-resolution-versions which I'd be able to print out? I'd understand if you don't want to, but these covers are just so gorgeous I have to ask ^^
I was actually planning on creating some covers myself, but I'm a bit intimidated now ;)
