Ugh....this sounds terrible! a 10 minute making of thats fox and the hound quality right there! my guess is this platinum sucks because the tried to rush it out to promote tinker bell. I bet that is what happend. But we never know maybe region 1 will have different features. Im still hoping but I wont be suprised if it really is this bad. but BVHE isnt all that bad at least they are giving us a 2disc edtion of a non platinum (Aristocats) so they have their highs and lows right now.

This is just a clip where we are presented to each fairy, and their tree kingdom-thingy... Not so very diffirent from a trailer... seems like the clip was made for this "preview"....2099net wrote:Hey, don't be sad. Turn that frown upside down!
It comes with a "The Tinkerbell Movie" preview! Which.... er.. is going to be totally reworked, and thus not look like the preview. See how... er... special that is!
We are truely blessed.

But maybe they will be great. I've always wanted to see what the original pre-WWII concept of the film would be. Besides, I think they will have at least one trailer. I can dream, can't I...Escapay wrote:All Peter Pan gets is what damn well better be two great featurettes ("In Walt's Words", "The Peter Pan that Almost Was").
And as I said before, maybe BVHE is going to have more bonus features for us and they're just keeping us in suspense. Take LATT , for example. I've always thought that one would have minimal bonus features. But it didn't. So who knows? Maybe lightning could strike twice with Peter Pan.
So while Peter Pan may be a bit skimpy, let's not jump to conclusions on what there will not be. Let's think of what will be there. They may not have all trailers, but at least A trailer. And all those galleries from past sets have more than 60. So don't you think we may be jumping the gun a bit here, even at this juncture?

Here's the cache of the DVDtalk "Peter Pan" review:

I bought the Special Edition VHS a little over a year ago (since I only had a taped copy from my parents from TV or a rental) and I know that there's a making of feature, but I haven't watched it yet. Is that the same feature that will be on the PE? I'm confused, even after reading this thread.

Yeah, the featurette that was used on both the SE VHS and SE DVD is the one being used for the PE DVD. That's why we're annoyed; Peter Pan's "making of" will be the only one in the Platinum series that would be considered a featurette rather than a documentary (I consider documentaries to be 30 minutes or longer). Well, actually, we have yet to see what Sleeping Beauty's future PE will offer us, but if Pan is any indication, we'll probably see the SE featurette carried over there, too.blackcauldron85 wrote: I bought the Special Edition VHS a little over a year ago (since I only had a taped copy from my parents from TV or a rental) and I know that there's a making of feature, but I haven't watched it yet. I'm still going to get it, too, because I don't have it and I'm a sucker for Platinum DVDs.
Which, of course, is the problem...the DVD may suck, but odds are most of us will still buy it.

I have a question. If you go to Best Buy, and pre-order PP, can you pick out another DVD and save five dollars, or do you have to pre-order it online? Thanks, I would like to know soon because I would like to buy "Swiss Family Robinson" (if it's still there).

How could it be rushed? Well, some of us ad UD believe that Peter Pan was put in the Spring 2007 slot at last notice. This can be seen when you look at the insert for LATT. It only listed The Little Mermaid as the next platinum. Because of scheduling that was from the past, and because Disney didn't finnish putting out the original 10 films that were originally going to be the only Platinums (before the other 4 were added: Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty and Fantasia), we assumed that either Jungle Book (or, more likely, 101 Dalmatians) would be the Platinum for Spring 2007, with the other being October 2007. We then assumed that Disney would start with the other 4 titles that were later added, Peter Pan being one of them.Farid wrote:I only have one question: How could Disney ever "rush" this release? That being said, I'm still going to get it. I don't have Peter Pan on DVD. That's excuse enough.
But, as most (if not, all) of us know, Disney through out a huge suprise when the announced that Peter Pan would be the next title to be given Platinum treatment. But, since Disney had somewhat of a schedule with the original 10, many believe that this Platinum was rushed or could have been substituted for 101 Dalmatians due to lack of bonus features, or they didn't have it fully restored in time. Another major factor is that Disney is releasing Peter Pan to promote the upcoming Tinkerbell Movie, as well as to go along with the whole Pirate fad. But the Tinkerbell Movie primarily makes us Disney Fans belileve that Disney decided at the last minute to place a big hold on 101 Dalmatians, push it back to 2008/2009, and just go all out for Peter Pan.

And now, Tinkerbell's coming out in 2008 (or maybe even later) due to Lasseter demanding rethinks on the script and animation. So it was all for nothing. And they say the US doesn't understand the meaning of irony.brotherbear wrote:Another major factor is that Disney is releasing Peter Pan to promote the upcoming Tinkerbell Movie, as well as to go along with the whole Pirate fad. I have the old Peter Pan Special Edition already and I'll just rent this new DVD to watch the new bonus features, as seriously, there seems to be nothing worth writing home about here, and I can save £15 or so by keeping my old DVD.

I'm pretty sure that you can get the $5 off another movie when you pre-order. They have a flier in the Disney DVD section of the store.TheSequelofDisney wrote:I have a question. Thank you for the clarification of the "controversy" surrounding this release. I just hope that this PE is not going to set standards for future PEs.brotherbear wrote:How could it be rushed? But between us all, look at how much work that went into making for example Bambi PE and look at this release. Huge difference.

Oh ya. I forgot all about it being pushed back to 2008. I keep thinking it's going to be released late 2007! I agree. What a waste. I feel like if Disney had just released 101 Dalmatians this spring, and waited until the right time to release Peter Pan, we would have good PE's for both 101 Dalmatians AND Peter Pan.2099net wrote:And now, Tinkerbell's coming out in 2008 (or maybe even later) due to Lasseter demanding rethinks on the script and animation. And you're welcome, Farid! And who DOESN'T hope that this is going to become the standard for Platinums! And yes, Disney seems to be showing up's and down's when it comes to the Platinum line. Snow White and BATB were both good, but TLK was really lacking. Then, Aladdin was wonderful, while Bambi was good, but I think it needed a little more restoration. Then LATT and TLM came out which (IMHO) was just ok, but not fantastic like Snow White, BATB, or Aladdin. Now, it seems Peter Pan will be the worst one yet. Geez Disney! Get it right!
