Strange as it may sound, the Wall Street Journal may have just revealed the plot concept for Pixar's upcoming Toy Story 3. In an article they featured about media companies and keeping content internally, they may have just revealed the plot concept for the long anticipated third film in the series which will hit theaters in 2010. Bypassing the question on how they got the plot concept before any of us, here's what they had to say...

In Pixar's coming movie "Toy Story 3," Woody the cowboy and his toy-box friends are dumped in a day-care center after their owner, Andy, leaves for college.

Obviously, this may not to be true in the final product but it seems to fit in timing. The third "Toy" film will be 11 years after Toy Story 2 hit theaters in 1999. If Pixar decides to pay attention with the gap between the second and third movie, the owner Andy will indeed be around college age. When we can get a confirmation on this plot concept, we'll pass it along to you.
WOW!! I am not sure whether to be happy for the plot or disgusted by the very sounding of it....Where is a link when you want one???

The plot does not excite me at all.

I was hoping they would have one more adventure with Andy and at the end of the movie, like an epilogue, they show a scene with Andy passing on his toys to his children. I mean, somehow that plot just...fits. The toys are still in "Andy's possession." But, I guess it is not our movie to make so we have to let Pixar go with that "bleh" plot. It kind of makes sense though. They will only make a sequel if there is a story to tell, I guess the only story they would be able to tell is their adventure in a day care center.

That storyline sounds really lame to me. I'm hoping that's NOT what the story will end up being. It would be like Jessie's flashback sequence made into an entire movie. It seems this scenario has been explored enough through Toy Story 2. I'd rather they just pick up where the last one left off, or even a few years later.

new plot details.
The MTV Movies Blog reports today a few previously unknown facts regarding Toy Story 3, sourced directly from Pixar veteran John Ratzenberger and actress Estelle Harris (voice of Mrs. Potato Head).

As it turns out, Hamm the piggy bank will be "a villain in the beginning of the movie,” according to Ratzenberger, later on, however, as the story progresses, he becomes a "superhero".

When it comes to Mrs. Potato Head, we'll be seeing a lot more of her in the film, which will be released to theatres in June 2010. Says Harris: "I have a much bigger part."

Finally, we learn that Andrew Stanton –you know, that guy who wrote and directed WALL-E and Finding Nemo– "did some script work on the film last year".

I didn't see this one coming. as little info as this was though, I'm starting to feel I already know too much. I wish I could go into it knowing just about nothing like I did for the other two. but I guess that's impossible in this day an age for anyone cares and has internet access.

I see nothing was mentioned on the two main characters..

Hmm.. I really am not feeling this plot. It sounds too...I don't know..different. I don't want this to focus on Hamm the Piggy Bank!!

who said anything about it focusing on Ham? toy story 2 didn't focus on al or the prospector that much, just provided the obstacles the main characters had to overcome. I expect the same deal here. only with this one ham apparently has a change of heart and saves the day, somehow. also, don't skim over the fact that Ms. potato head will also play a larger roll. I don't know what that could mean, but maybe Ham and her are working together for something.

and this has to be different. this cant be another save buzz or woody movie.

Thanks for the news! It's great to hear about any sort of progress on this movie. It is funny to think of Michael Keaton as Ken, but his voice will work very well.

Yeah, she did, back in 2004, but it sort of damaged her reputation. So Mattel redesigned Ken and now they're back together.

Here's the article about the break-up:

a replacement has been found for Slink in Toy Story 3

Post by Kyle »

I thought there was a Toy Story 3 thread but I couldn't find it...

MTV in an interview with Lasseter about the fate of Doc Hudson in Cars 2 he made a quick comment about slink.

"we found actually an old friend of [Varney's] who sounds an awful lot like him - another actor that's going to be doing that voice,"
http://www.mtv.ca/news/article.jhtml?id=12056
Now, while we still don't know the guys name or how close he'll sound, I think its a good sign if he was close friends with him. he was around him a lot, he should know more than anyone the types of inflections he had in his speech.

It has been previously reported that Lou Romano, voice of Linguini in Ratatouile and artist.
