Thanks carolinakid and the rest of you guys about my witch walking stick observation. UmbrellaFish, I agree, Cinderella's dress worked more 'cause it was magic, and D82, yes, Cinderella's dress worked more because it was blue like the background of the night the coach and castle were in in the movie.

Disney's Divinity, I always thought they did Cinderella first because it was the most popular classic that had the worst previous transfers.

When Sleeping Beauty gets its restoration, I’d love to see Aurora’s dress (preferably the blue version as that’s what she wears in the great majority of the film) serve as a back drop for the sole reason to keep the 3 original Walt Disney Princesses consistent in the cover art.

And yes, I absolutely noticed that in the printed title and in the background drawing the Seven Dwarfs are definitely being minimized vis-à-vis their importance to the story. Woke Disney is obviously very uncomfortable with the Dwarf aspect of the fairy tale today.

It's absurd to hide the 7 dwarfs when even dwarf people support their roles. Disney is not affraid about dwarf people opinion. Disney is affraid about white woke people opinion….

The fixation on the dwarves as they appear in Snow White feels kinda weird to me. Like, I've never heard anyone take issue with fantasy properties like Lord of the Rings featuring dwarves as a fantastical race. Is there like some part of the conversation I'm missing? Or is it just another case of "it comes from Disney, so it must be bad"?

Are there more samples of the new transfer (or a comparison)? All I see in that one frame is some adjustment of contrast...

I suspect no new transfer will be as drastic an improvement as Cinderella's

Yes, carolinakid, it would be great if they did that with Aurora's dress, and it's magic, too, so it would make a lot of sense.

You, know, the reason they gave Snow White her color scheme probably was a combination of things, being a) blue, red, and yellow on a character is a good way to make that character stand out, because those colors are all primary colors and pop (Pinocchio did the same thing), b) yellow is cheerful and bright like Snow White's personality, and c) they wanted kind of nature colors, I thought.

At least the seven dwarfs look a bit bigger on the back cover.

I wasn't expecting any new bonus material. But I'm very excited to see the movie in beautiful 4K.

On an unrelated note, I finally watched The Prince of Egypt in 4K last night, and it blew me away. It's a movie that I never saw in its entirety, but it's beautiful.

Hey Teppy,

I am curious about SW in 4K, but not sure I will buy it. I'm very curious to see proper comparisons in full size to the previous release. Cause I was pretty happy with that transfer (as long as I adjusted the contrast on my tv hehe).

About Prince of Egypt... I understand the 4K transfer looks amazing, and it was made from a film print, not directly sourced from the digital source (like Disney does with it's 90's movie). Glad you liked the movie, I think it's excellent.

I get that, Marce :) you will get to see it on Disney+ though, and then, you can decide on whether or not to buy it. I do intend to buy it, to show my support for the studio releasing their Walt-era films in 4K.

Yeah, The Prince of Egypt totally blew me away. I did a comparison with the regular Blu-ray, and the differences are quite noticeable. The 4K featured a new restoration.

Hey Teppy,

Oh, I will definitely be checking out the new SW transfer when it's on Disney+... thanks for the reminder! And wonder when that will be...

As for TPOE... so wait, the blu ray included with the 4K has the OLD transfer??? So the only disc with the new transfer is the 4K one???

Yup, sadly, it's the same disc from 2018. What surprised me was that the 4K disc also has the bonus features.

Did they really use this Snow White artwork? Omg they have thousands of artworks of her. She doesn't look good with the dwarfs because they have different art style! This artwork was used on the Disney princesses merchandise 🙄🙄🙄🙄

I do agree that the art styles are different, but I think she looks quite lovely in that particularly art. It's the only clipart where she's on model.

Yup, I pre-ordered it :D I'm very happy they decided to give it a wide release instead of a Movie Club exclusive. I suppose they will also release it on Disney+ around the same time.
