PRINCESS SOFIA SETS SAIL FOR A HIGH SEAS ADVENTURE IN HER FIRST-EVER PRIMETIME SPECIAL “SOFIA THE FIRST: THE FLOATING PALACE,” PREMIERING SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24 ON DISNEY CHANNEL

Ariel from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” Makes Special Appearance

Disney Legend Jodi Benson and Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men”)
Guest Star

Sofia and her family take to the high seas for a royal vacation in the first-ever “Sofia the First” primetime special, “Sofia the First: The Floating Palace,” premiering SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel and THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT) on the 24-hour Disney Junior channel. The undersea adventure, in which Sofia is magically transformed into a mermaid, features a special appearance by Princess Ariel from “The Little Mermaid,” voiced by Disney Legend Jodi Benson who reprises her iconic role from the animated film. The special also introduces a new character named Oona, a young mermaid voiced by Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men”).

A full-length preview of “Sofia the First: The Floating Palace” will debut on WATCHDisneyJunior.com and the WATCH Disney Junior app for smartphones and tablets beginning Monday, November 11. The special will be simulcast on WATCH Disney Channel the same day as the linear premiere on Sunday, November 24 and will be available for download on iTunes, Amazon and Xbox beginning Monday, November 25.

2013 to date, “Sofia the First” is cable TV’s #1 series in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49. Its animated TV movie prequel, “Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess” remains the #1 cable TV telecast of all time in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and the #1 preschool cable TV telecast ever in Total Viewers and Women 18-49.

“Sofia the First: The Floating Palace” takes Sofia and her family on an extraordinary journey to Merriway Cove, where Sofia meets a young mermaid named Oona. After helping Oona untangle her fin from a net, Sofia’s magical amulet transforms her into a mermaid too, allowing her to explore the underwater world with her new friend. During their adventure, Sofia learns that mermaids mistrust humans and are angry that her family’s floating palace is in their cove. When Oona is captured by a horrible sea monster, Sofia – with a little help from Princess Ariel – must find a way to save her and create harmony between their two worlds.

On Friday, November 15, DisneyJunior.com/Sofia will launch “Sofia the First: Mermaid Princess,” a game in which players help Sofia rescue Oona from the clutches of the sea monster. The site will also feature “Sofia’s Royal Catch & Match,” an online activity based on the classic card game “Go Fish.”

Created for kids age 2-7 and their parents/caregivers, and starring the voices of Ariel Winter (ABC’s “Modern Family”), Sara Ramirez (ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy”), Wayne Brady (“Let’s Make a Deal”), and Tim Gunn (“Project Runway”), “Sofia the First” follows the adventures of Princess Sofia, a young girl who is learning how to adjust to royal life after her mom marries the king. Along the way, she discovers that the inner character of kindness, generosity, loyalty, honesty and grace is what makes a real princess.

The series was developed by Craig Gerber (“Pixie Hollow Games”) who also serves as executive producer and story editor. Jamie Mitchell (“Special Agent Oso”) is executive producer and director. John Kavanaugh (“Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo”) serves as songwriter/music director and Kevin Kliesch (“Tangled Ever After”) is the composer. “Sofia the First” is a production of Disney Television Animation.

Disney Junior reflects the emotional connection generations of consumers have to Disney storytelling and Disney characters, both classic and contemporary. It invites mom and dad to join their child in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for kids age 2-7. Disney Junior’s series blend Disney’s unparalleled storytelling and characters kids love deeply with learning, including early math, language skills, healthy eating and lifestyles, and social skills. In the U.S., Disney Junior is a daily programming block on Disney Channel and a 24-hour channel. There are 33 Disney Junior channels in 24 languages around the world.

I couldn't see the video in my country, so I searched for another version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZOgRQRQbfo

I have to say; the story looks promising (big Little Mermaid influence, the 'we hate humans' stuff). I am excited.

Do have to say that Ariel does not really sound like Jodi Benson, and the laugh of the sea monster (0:37) sound like Pat Carroll!

Are you sure that Ariel talks in the trailer?

I think that Sofia is the one who says: “don’t worry, I have a plan!”

On the other hand, I think that the mermaid with the trident is also voiced by Jodi Benson! What do you think?

I'm 90% sure that her mouth is moving, but I could be wrong. I do agree on the mermaid with the trident, I think it's Jodi too.

I think I saw an interview or read an article back in the days around the release time of TLM3 and they said that they pitched the voice of Jodi Benson to make her sound 'younger'. I'm not a 100% sure though, so I have no receipts, but maybe they did this here too?

Maybe she will. Also, there are some new Sofia songs on ITunes! Make it right from Amulet and the Anthem, the Enchancian anthem from the same episode and recipe for adventure from next week's all new episode the Antventure! Recipe for Adventure is upbeat and fun! Now if they would only put up Jasmine's song from Two to Tangu and good Little Witch as well as I'll Get the Amulet and Bring My Best friend back.

I think that this means that a new album is coming soon!

They did the same before the release of the first album.

I hope that in time for Christmas they will release the second full soundtrack from the series.

Cedric isn't a " bad guy " he's just jealous and envious of the King and also fears the King because he's sort of like " Oh Cedric, you fail " !

He has helped Sofia more than once and has a soft spot for her; even though Cedric says that he wants to rule and take over and he most likely will- I really doubt that Cedric will 100 per cent go for it; because Sofia will heal him, like she's been doing throughout the series so far.

Sorry Cedric fan. :embarrassed:

I agree with you. Cedrick isn't my fave character, but I see Sofia slowly healing him ever since Cedrick's apprentice. He might try valently in the movie to finaly get the amulet, but I think there will come a day when push comes to shove and Cedrick remembers all the times Sofia helped him out and was kind to him. She also kept him out of jail in the Amulet of Avalor, so that's something.

^ She might do a fine job, a voice actor shouldn't be degraded just because she voices a character in a Japanese Anime.

But lols though.

To fair she has been the speaking voice of Aurora for quite a while now, and does a much better job than Jennifer Hale used to do.

Here you go:

"The Love We Share"

(Ariel Singing)
When life led me
From sea to shore
The human world felt strange
The way they talked
The way they walked
Was such a drastic change

But though our worlds
Live differently
There’s one thing that we share
We both adore
Our family so
With love beyond compare

Whether you live on land or sea
We’re all devoted to our family
Alone you cannot win
You need a helping fin
The love we share
Can set us free

Joining together is the key
For if you two worlds work in harmony
You could end your troubles
If only they would see
The love you share
Can set you free

Out here is a mermaid
Who wants to save her sister
Show her that you feel the same
And you may just enlist her

(Sofia and Ariel singing)
Joining together is the key
We have to learn to work in harmony

(Ariel singing)
You coud end your troubles

(Sofia singing)
If only she could see

(Ariel singing)
No matter where

(Sofia singing)
In sea or air

(Sofia and Ariel singing)
The love we share
Will set them free
