She also did several other Burton films like Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow and Edward Scissorhands. I'm glad Tim works with the same crew a lot (Danny Elfman, Chris Lebenzon and Colleen of course) so you know what to expect, and you know it will be good.nomad2010 wrote: ooo Colleen Atwood? Really? She did A Series of Unfortunate Events, and the costumes in that were exceptional. That would explain why these look so amazing. if only the teaser trailer would debut at comic con. putting it in front of half blood prince would be the best push they could give it.

I'm really looking forward to this, but I don't understand why Alice has a romance with, of all people, the Hatter. Virtually everything else has some sort of foundation in, or is in the spirit of, the original text, but this particular story element seems completely out of the blue.

Wow! That dress is unusual. Not sure wether i really love it or really hate it. But the flowers and the garden look amazing, and Mia is so beautiful!nomad2010 wrote:we have another new photo... this one from entertainment weekly's comic con issue. it looks so green screen-ish. and what's with the new dress?

That's an absolutely gorgeous image. For those wondering what she's wearing, her clothes don't change size with her like they do in the book and other adaptions. So when she shrinks down to meet the Caterpillar, she takes her now oversized dress and wraps it around her, forming a new dress (think Ariel and the ship sail). I actually think Mia blends into the CG background pretty well. Even if she didn't, I think this is the one film where you can get away with something like that; it'd only serve to isolate her more from her odd surroundings. Interesting that her hair seems to gain color while in Wonderland; it's platinum blonde in the real world shots and golden here.

Ah, i see! Now that i've looked at it again it seems to be that she's wearing her sleeve?Disneykid wrote:That's an absolutely gorgeous image. skipping this; not even a RENTAL.
I'll take the musical 1985 television movie starring Natalie Gregory or the Animated Disney movie instead.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.
Where did you hear that she was going to have a romance with the Mad Hatter?MagicMirror wrote:I'm really looking forward to this, but I don't understand why Alice has a romance with, of all people, the Hatter. Her head was enlarged 3 times on purpose.Disney Duster wrote:Am I the only one who thought Helena's head was slightly enlarged for this photo, too?
Am I the only one who thinks it looks big already, somehow with her wig and makeup and costume I guess, and it doesn't need to be enlarged digitally? It looks great!

Tim Burton's Wonderland
Yes I know, as I indicated by saying it didn't need to be enlarged digitally more than it looks in the photo (I don't know if it is enlarged in the photo for sure). I was saying if it wasn't, it looks big enough already. I know why they are doing it, but it doesn't need it.o0Andy0o wrote:Her head was enlarged 3 times on purpose.
I like the idea of Alice making a new dress when it's too big for her! But, all she needs to do is find a way to lift the frilly part more up to her shoulders. I'm sure she could by tearing of some lace or ribbon to tie it up tight or attach it to her shoulders, somehow raise it to them.

All right, take this with a heavy dosage of salt. Someone on IMDb is saying that there'll be a 3-D trailer attached to G-Force this Friday, and he gave a description (highlight to read):
"Here is the scoop on the trailer. It is 1:30 and starts with Alice running through the woods. She sees a hole by a tree and falls in...and falls...and falls. There is stuff all around her. While falling, it says "By Director Tim Burton". It then shows Alice drinking from a bottle and shrinking in her dress. It shows Alice wandering around in Wonderland, her dress looks a bit big on her with her shoulders bare. It shows her walking with Tweedle dee and Tweedle Dum, the White Queen on a balcony with Alice, the face of the Cheshire Cat (he is grey with green eyes, lots of pointy teeth), the Red Queen pushing a door open, a giant bear-like thing growling, a vulture picking up Tweedle Dee and Dum. The Mad Hatter is talking in the background, but you dont realize it's him until he says, 'You must be as mad as a hatter.' It then shows him leaning down to pick up his hat and walking across the tea table. He approaches Alice, who is very tiny, and says 'Alice, you are terribly late, you know. Naughty!' It shows the Alice logo while the Mad Hatter is laughing. It then shows the White Rabbit. It flashes 'You've got a very important date March 5th, 2010.' Then the two zeros turn into the Cheshire Cat's eyes, and the grin appears. Then it shows the Mad Hatter throwing some sort of cloth, and info about 3-D and Imax appears."
While I'm being cautious about this, I have to admit that the description sounds pretty dang legit. I can pinpoint pretty much every shot to a part in the screenplay, and I don't think this poster simply read the script and made a fan trailer (he doesn't refer to the Bandersnatch and the Jubjub Bird by their actual names). The Comic-Con presentation is Thursday, so let's see if the footage screened there is the same teaser that's supposedly coming with G-Force.

my guess is with how detailed it is that it is true. plus g-force is a family movie and it's going to pull in boatloads of kids. if they want to promote alice as being a family film they have to advertise in front of these kinds of movies. plus with rumors already of a sequel to g-force i would assume disney thinks its going to make some nice profit on this one.Disneykid wrote:All right, take this with a heavy dosage of salt. I don't like the Dark Tone of Tim Burton's movies. I like happy movies.ajmrowland wrote:

I'll admit that I was nervous bout this remake like everybody else.... But it's nice to have a refreshin course on a classic tale.
Alice In wonderland is classic litiature and whimiscal to read. Some of hte characters lend themselves to the realm of Animation, be it 2/3D. There's been multiple adaptions of "Wonderland" each has their own moments of stardom yet we always remember the Disney Verison of "Wonderland". And we all know hell will break out when the trailer/film arrives and we start comparin Tim's Alice to Walt's Alice.

There's absolutely nothing out apart from some photos, how do you know you won't see it?jediliz wrote:skipping this; not even a RENTAL.

And Tim Burton is not only 'dark'. Big Fish wasn't, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn't. And I thought the Disney version was pretty dark too, for its time.
But anyway, watching only happy movies must be getting boring after a while, I would think.
