The Little Mermaid III

Post by Disney Duster »

Old Fish Tale wrote:Is it this one or this one?
It's both. The first one is where the story first appeared, and the second one is the two princess volumes collected together in one book, so it's the same story in there.

I looked at it myself, and Ursula skinny is still purple but she has black hair, and her hair is actually parted just like Vanessa's. It's pretty pathetic.

It's highly doubtful that Disney would base The Little Mermaid III on that story because usually they don't do that. After Cinderella II came out, they made a book where Prudence helps plan Cinderella's wedding. Eventually the Fairy Godmother used magic to make the cake and dress and invitations for her. But this is not what happened in [/]Cinderella III[/i]. A lot of times these books conflict with the movies. There was a book where Ariel imagined what it would be like to marry Prince Eric, and in the beginning she had his statue in her grotto during the whole book, when in the movie she only had the statue for a few minutes before it was destroyed by her father!

Sometimes these books even vonflict with other books. I once read a book where Ursula was already Queen, and she was an evil ruler, but King Triton fought her and he became king. Then there was something about an evil chest... Anyway, that really conflicts with the story amazon980 told us. Also, Ursula was once considered being made Triton's sister. We don't know if she still is or not, but for The Little Mermaid Broadway musical, she was described as his sister in the casting call:
Ursula: To play female in her 30’s or 40’s. A Sea Witch and Triton’s estranged (and none-to-happy-about-it) sister, banished forever for dabbling in The Black Arts.
If Ursula is Triton's sister, her being in love with him would be incestuous. It's true, amazon980, that Ursula was in love with Triton in another book. In My Side Of The Story: The Little Mermaid, she was in love with him. But that's the problem with these books. They aren't necessarily canon. They go off saying things that may conflict with the movie or not be true altogether when sequels or later information is revealed.

An alternate link to the one Disney's Divinity provided is: Skinny Ursula
She got skinny with magic during a song she sang. I don't know why she changed her skin color, but that goes along with Disney Divinity's theory that Ursula used magic to become purple because it was her favorite color. Although, there was an episode where she was with Octopans or something, a race of octopus people with blue skin, I believe.

I've read both volumes. The one with The Little Mermaid was great because of the backstory it provided, although as said, it conflicts with other tellings. But I think it would make sense for Ursula to have been in love with Triton, then got jealous because his wife stole his heart. I also liked the addition of Crystalla. There is also a part where the book tells what happened between the scenes where Ariel finds out about Eric's engagement to Vanessa and the scene where the wedding ship departs. In the end, it tells that during Ariel's wedding, Crystalla gives her pearls that had belonged to her mother.

If anyone gets a chance to read the volumes, they should. It gives backstories of most of the characters. For example, in Cinderella, it tells how her life was like when her father was alive, how she met her stepfamily, how Lady Tremaine was a phony, how she and her stepsisters had nothing in common when they were kids, what happened after her father died, the daily activities of her stepsisters, and a little bit about what happened after the slipper fit her and before the wedding.

We can't believe everything that Disney writes in their story books, otherwise other mediums would have to be believed as well, like all the Princesses having a soda in House Of Mouse, coming together and singing songs about Christmas etc etc, all changing back story etc etc

These are just different story artists ideas, and they are endorsed by Disney. I mean, have you read "My Side Of The Story" ? ? I love them, and they are really funny, but it changes backstory as well.

Just go from the movies and TV series, that gives all the 'official' story.

You're right. Besides, movies come first before storybooks. :)

No, they didn't, as people on the little mermaid board were complaining about the fact they did not have one. I've been checking loads, and its only recently that it has popped up.

hey guys!i guess you can tell that i am new here and well...
i have read the entire forum this week and i didnt really notice this on the forum, but i have noticed something added in the wikipedia website. i know that it is not always true and sorry if this has already been posted but i saw that on...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Mermaid_III...

# Pat Carroll - Ursula
# Pat Carroll - Morgana

it looks as if though they will both be in TLM3

of course since Ursula was more on the top of the list, it would seem that she has a bigger role than Morgana since Morgana was around the bottom of the list.

well...that's all i have to say :)

No. Just no. She was a crappy villian to begin with.

Morgana was a cool villian; she was basically the neurotic sister of Ursula!

But, I would not believe that article for a second; to be blunt, no one knows whats happening with this movie, so why on earth wikipedia would know Morgana is in the movie, I dont know.

Again, here are some facts:

*Ariel will be played by Jodi Benson

*Sebastian will be played by Samuel E. Wright

*Some of Ariel's sisters will be played by Tara Strong

*Parker Goris will be playing Flounder

*Sally Field will be playing Athena, Ariel's mother

*It will be a prequal

*Sebastian owns his own club

*Eric will be in it

*Melody will not be in it

*There is a link between the locket seen in TLMII, and the locket featured in TLMIII trailer

*The test screening reviews were so fantastic and positive, that they are currently adding more scenes.

*There will be a soundtrack.

*It will be released on November 20th

*A new trailer will likely debut on the Disney Channel in the Summer

*There are trailers on various Disney DVD's, and a sneak peak at a musical number on TLM Special Edition DVD.

As far as I know, these are the only confirmed facts we know.
I hope it helped some people!

There is no conformation either way, as far as I know! I'm very sorry to hear that as well.

If anyone knows more, please post!

Yup, we know nothing about Ursula yet. All these information, which atlanticaunderthesea so kindly reminded us, are mentioned in this thread's front page and are the only reliable information we have so far.

Yeah I guess you are right.

^That's unfortunate. I want some promotional images, I don't think the scene we've been shown gives very many options for making graphics with (avatars, blends, etc.).
