Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2013

Tarzan will probably be released as a stand alone release and Tarzan 2 and Tarzan & Jane will get a 2-movie release.

When Hercules is released it's very unlikely that Hero to Zero will be included but you never know.

101 Dalmatians 2 and The Jungle Book 2 will receive separate releases seeing as they're sequels to diamond editions.

I'm not sure if Leroy & Stitch and Stitch! The Movie will be released, we'll just have to wait and see.

The Aladdin Blu-ray seems to be a great release. Shame on Disney for not making it a Diamond release. They treat Aladdin (and Hunchback and Hercules) like shit. Aladdin deserves to be a Diamond title, and I hope Disney soon will understand how bad they are treating several of their classic 90's movies.

To be honest, do the lines mean anything?

There you have it:

-The Lion King (Diamond) leaves a lot to be desired.
-Tarzan, Hunchback (don´t have lines) and they don´t have anything that´s worth of extras
-The Rescuers (25th Anniversary) doesn´t have anything that you can call extras.
-Alice in Wonderland (60th Anniversary Edition) is packed with extras.
-Aladdin (doesn´t have line) and is pretty much the same Platinum Edition...which means packed with extras.

Seriously, I don´t know what´s wrong with Disney.

They know that, for the most part, you think of Disney films and what comes to mind is quality on films and fond memories. They know that the Classics are beloved. And on top of that there aren´t that many animated movies so they can very well treat each accordingly.

These are my thoughts (that I´ve shared before):

-Animated movies that take years to make. That means there´s tons of stuff that can be brought to the BR as extras.
-If Disney bothered to port each time what the previous formats had in Special Features (VHS, Laserdiscs, DVD) they would only need to make just a couple of new entries for the BR
-Do what they did on the DVD format: Collector´s Editions/Regular Editions
-If they´re going to release their movies without any kind of worthy extras then don´t sell them so expensive. It should not be fair to charge the same price for Sleeping Beauty than Hunchback,

This should make Escapay happy, though he would be more ecstatic if this was in the USA. I believe he would say TAKE MY MONEY!!!

Are there any chances that the steelbooks will be released in the USA, or is it because of that Lawsuit we won't see them.

You have a valid point DC Fan, the different lines (Diamond, Platinum etc) means little when it comes to the quality of the extra material. I would have preferred it if they had released all their movies without lines, and given all of their releases a minimum of effort. But as long as they have their premieum line (Platinum, Diamond... wonder what the next line will be called?) then Aladdin should be a part of it. It is a modern classic - the animation and music is wonderful, it was an important part of the Disney renaissance (the biggest success at the worldwide box office in 1992 and winner of two Academy Awards) and it just seems wrong to have The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King in the line and then exclude Aladdin from it.

As long as Disney insist on having a premium line, I think they should expand the titles in to make room for movies like Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland. Maybe throw in some other movies as well, like Fantasia, Pocahontas, Hunchback, Hercules, Mulan and Tarzan.

Disney hasn´t treated the movie well since a LONG time.

Hasn´t it been for Jasmine we´ll be talking of Hercules and Hunchback level of care; meaning NONE.

Also, remember that we basically have to be grateful to Disney for just releasing the films on BR.

I think that the premium line should be for movies that have done well and guess are " special " in a way, hence why they are in a premium line like

Snow White- First animated movie Disney made, huge success

Pinocchio- Did well in America, was sadly interrupted by WWII in Europe.

Dumbo- Disney's huge success after the money- loss of Fantasia and Pinocchio's money loss in Europe.

Bambi- Again interrupted by WWII, but afterwards was seen and viewed as a huge magical classic.

Cinderella- Another huge hit after losing money because of WWII and having to do Package Movies.

Jungle Book- Disney's last movie before his death, huge success.

The Rescuers- Made the most money for a animated movie in the Box Office until Don Bluth's Mouse movie.

The Little Mermaid- The movie that brought Disney out of the Dark Ages from the mid 70's to late 80's.

Beauty and the Beast- Another huge success after Mermaid.

Aladdin- Bigger success than Beauty and the Beast and Mermaid, huge Box Office success.

Lion King- Doesn't need to be explained.

Tarzan- Biggest Disney hit since after LK.

Tangled- Biggest Disney hit in the Box Office since ages.

Here's the previous DVD for comparison's sake.

I love that new cover. I like that they put Little John on the opposite side of Prince John and Sir Hiss as the Most Wanted Edition made it look like Little John was on their side. I also just noticed that the Most Wanted Edition has Disney's instead of just plain Disney, maybe this cover isn't final and hopefully Disney will change it to say Disney's. If Robin Hood's 40th looks this good I can't wait to see what The Sword In The Stone 50th will look like.
