Disney Duster wrote:^ Indeed, you could say that if the authors who God inspired to write the Bible only explained
You're making a very big leap there, DD. You can't prove God inspired anyone to write anything. As a matter of fact, there is a lot more that shows us the people / the person who wrote the Bible made it up. Like I said- the "Honor Thy Father" mentality. If the fear of God is
so close to the fear people had of their fathers' wrath - why should we believe they saw or knew God. That "he" spoke to them? Or that God exists and isn't just a ghost fiction version of a Father?
I think you can't believe that person / these people made it all up. But, that's up to you to find a way to wrap your mind around. Let's not assume anything so ludicrous as God inspired people to write books that led to the vicious murders of millions of people in taking land from native people, slavery, bigotry, war, and other things. Just as it's Man's justification to take the words of the God they assume is real and use them to kill, it makes more sense to believe people made up God so that others would believe it proves there is a reason for all human misfortune and suffering. That being good will take us to Heaven and that that's our reward.
Why are people so intent on believing the Bible is based on real teachings? Do people have really short memories? Did you forget about all the witch burnings? People used to believe that Satan gave human beings the power to cast spells which led to sickness, death, and dying harvests of crops. Yet, the belief in God speaking to people (which you'll notice "he" doesn't do anymore - go ahead, ask "him"!) to get them to write a book
doesn't strike people as insane. That belief is no crazier than the Scientologist theories on what's responsible for all the bad in the world. And Scientologists are full of crap!
Why don't we start making all the right connections here. Beliefs of convenience are not very good ones.
