Edition with figurines (with a different cover art!!!):
<a href="http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l139/ ... eeping.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l139/ ... eeping.jpg" border="0" alt="Sleeping"></a>

And then there's the Blu-Ray.

I don't know what to buy!!! I want it all!!!
I'm glad the second one isn't the cover for the DVD/Blu-ray...That image of Phillip and Aurora is so old and I've seen it so many times in so many things...it bores me and bugs me now. So glad we got some fresh artwork.

There's only one thing:
The deluxe edition doesn't have a slipcover.
But in your picture, it has!

I bought it today and it has the slipcover:

<a href="http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l139/ ... pcover.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l139/ ... pcover.jpg" border="0" alt="Slipcover"></a>

So, at least in Spain it always comes with slipcover.

in Holland it didn't come with a slipcover.

At least for once, we finally got a CE Box set.

I just got my copy of SB yesterday. Not really so special as the editions shown above. Just the two-disk platinum edition. (but a huge improvement over my videocasette - now I can see SB in widescreen as it was supposed to be!)
The most exclusive edition I have is Beauty and the Beast A fold-out 2-diks edition contained in a cassette.
Thus far I watched on SB: the main film, "Grand Canyon", "The story of Peter Tsjaikovsky" (never knew that 'Swan Lake' got such a bad reception when it premiered!) and bits and pieces of the second disk. Plan to watch "The Making of" today.

I know what you mean, and it's like how I dislike the real Platinum cover because it's just a re-drawn version of the old Special Edition cover, but actually, that second cover has new artwork of Phillip and Aurora made for the Platinum. I compared the old and new artwork:

Yeah, but you can use that argument to an even greater extent with the figurine gift set edition. At least the domestic cover alters some angles around. The international giftset with Aurora and Phillip dancing is old clipart that's been directly airbrushed.

Oh yea, I know the regular cover did more, thank goodness!, but they made real genuine technically new art from that old clipart, look at Phillip and Aurora's heads, particularly the eyes, and the lines in Aurora's dress, and the collar. It's like the red-do of that old Cinderella clipart on the Official DVD Site that was really good except the face...

Well I'm furious!

The UK Blu-ray only has the 7.1 soundtrack in English, you can't access the 4.0 soundtrack.

Also is has no BD Live at all.

Of course the US Sleeping Beauty (despite being a catalog release) is region locked.

Tits.

At least we get a proper holder for the DVD.

I actually wish that the picture of Aurora and Phillip dancing was the cover.

That's because the UK goes BD live, along with the rest of Europe, with Snow White's release next year. That's what I've read somewhere, anyhow!

I'm planning on getting the UK Blu on Mon, just hope my HMV giftcard of £20 will cover it!

I went blue when I heard this news! ;)

I've got the angry letter to prove it as well.

Disney won't know what's hit them, just like when they called "The Wild" classic 46! They be pleading with me to stop sending letters!

Hey MattDean, I might be interested in the UK edition of the Blu-Ray, could you tell us if the case came with a slipcover much like the US release? and also, what other languages does the set have other than English in audio tracks and subtitles?

Thanks!
Chandler (to Phoebe, over the phone) : Listen, Joey isn't gonna be here tonight so why don't you come over and I'll let you uh.. feel my bicep; or maybe more...

It comes with a slipcover, has English 7.1, English 2.0 Audio Descriptive and Italian, Spanish and Dutch 5.1. Subtitles are English, Spanish, Italian and Dutch.

The second Blu-ray disc of bonus features has more languages - they appear to be using the same disc <strike>1</strike> 2 for the whole of Europe.

I don't think so because if they were using the same disc for all of Europe then French would be on there as well ;) :P Or maybe it's just the same disc for all of Europe, except France which will have its own set.

What other languages are there on Disc 2? Does the slipcover look anything like the Region A's, that opens like a book with all the description of the discs's content?

I'm pretty sure French is on Disc 2. When I said the whole of Europe I meant they had 2 or 3 Disc 1s to distribute, but only 1 master copy of Disc 2. Obviously they have multiple Disc 1s as there's no French, or German, Polish etc.

I can't look at disc 2 now as I'm working (Booo! - Sunday night and working... again).

No the slipcover does not open like book.

BTW, Region B doesn't seem to get the Dragon in the dungeon sound demo game thingy either.

I think you'll be very lucky to get a region free player, and due to the fact that they are firmware updatable (and updates can even be placed on discs, or virtual java machines can scan and report back on the hardware) I doubt you will ever be 100% sure a region free player will remain region free.
