Wii Freeloader announced!
Wii is here!
I don't see how a product like Freeloader can exist on today's consoles - all of which recieve regular firmware updates. So I would put the dancing elephants away for now Yamiiguy. If the freeloader still works after 2 or 3 Wii firmware updates then by all means bring them back out.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
I suppose I could just not update my console, I have 2 Wii's so I can update one of them freely and the other I'll just keep it as it is. I don't suppose that you'd have to update from a disc either with the Freeloader as it is a swap disc trick so it will probably bypass the disc channel.2099net wrote:I don't see how a product like Freeloader can exist on today's consoles - all of which recieve regular firmware updates. Not sure on the Freeloader disc, but some games have firmware upgrades on the disc and will not play unless it updates the Wii first.yamiiguy wrote:I suppose I could just not update my console, I have 2 Wii's so I can update one of them freely and the other I'll just keep it as it is. The Gamecube Freeloader disc doesn't work on the Wii, so I guess Nintendo could release a firmware to block the Wii one.
An update on my Wii troubles... It should be back to Nintendo by March 7th. So if they copy my information to the new Wii that weekend I should get it back between the 11th and 13th. Hopefully it works and I can find Brawl in stock after I get it back. I've decided not to preorder Brawl just in case this new Wii doesn't work either. I hope the 3rd trip to Nintendo is the charm.
Since the Wii is my only "new" console, and the main one I play I haven't gamed at all since Jan 25th when it first broke. Sad times...

Rock Band will be available on the Wii on June 22, 2008.
The big disadvantage the Wii version has is no online play and no downloads at all. Its a shame because from what I've heard the ability to get new music is a huge thing for the PS3/360 versions. I guess this version will end up like the PS2 one.
Still its nice that this is being made available to Wii owners.
Gamestop has it on their site for $169.99. Maybe Sam's Club will have it cheaper. I know they sell the PS3 version for $149.99 now.
I'm tempted to pick this up without online play on the Wii, but if I get a PS3 this year I would highly regret not getting that version. $169.99 is a lot for a game too, although I hear Rock Band is a blast to play.

Just purchased two new games for the Wii today - Zack and Wiki: The Quest for Barbaro's Treasure and MLB Power Pros. Zack and Wiki was more for me and MLB Power Pros was more for my boyfriends. So far, Zack and Wiki seems rather fun. It started off a little slow, and seemed hard to figure out - but after playing for a while, I started to get the hang of it and I'm able to figure it out. The game is sort of a puzzle/problem solving game. It is rather interesting and so far it has been fun and kept my attention rather well. It will certainly hold me over until April 27th, when Mario Kart Wii FINALLY comes out!

What are some good options for Wii Remote Batteries? I've thought about getting the Nyko Charge Station, but there are a few things I don't like about it.
1.) The grips on the back make it hard to work on the Wii Zapper, and I'm worried it want fit in the Wii Wheel good either. Its also a pain if you want to use the Wii Jackets. Basically I'm worried that future add ons for the Wii Remote may or may not work with these.
2.) I only have one Wii Remote, so a charger for two remotes seems like a waste. I have no plans to get another controller either since I'm the only one that uses the Wii.
Are there any good options for only one Remote? I saw a Madcatz one, but you have to leave WiiConnect24 standby on (I don't like to do this.) and charge it though the USB on the Wii. Its also got bad reviews.
Would some regular rechargeable batteries be my best bet, or keep using regular batteries? If I go with some rechargeable ones what are some good ones to pickup?
I don't play a lot on the Wii so regular batteries last awhile, but I figure its a waste to just keep throwing these things out every couple of weeks.

Thanks Simba3. I've heard about the Nykos not holding a charge, etc... One of my friends has it and hasn't had problems, but the grips on the back make it hard to work with the Remote add ons.
I might look into getting some rechargeable AAs, or just keep going with regular batteries. The set I have in now has been going strong since I got my new Wii and Brawl several weeks ago, so they do last awhile.

I might play it if someone I know gets it. It looks ok. One thing I found odd was the weight restrictions on the board. For a product thats supposed to get you in shape you would think it would allow a higher weight limit. Maybe a 3rd party board will have a higher one.Disney Lover wrote:I don't remember this being mentioned before in this thread but what does everyone think of the Wii Fit? You can search for a demo video of it on YouTube. It looks like it might be fun but who knows I guess.
The baseball game looks good, and I might get it depending on reviews. I really wouldn't mind seeing a Mario Golf game on the Wii too.
PixarFan2006 - I hope your enjoying Super Paper Mario. I thought it was the best Paper Mario so far. Although it was a lot shorter and easier than the other two Paper Mario games.
I'm looking forward to Mario Kart Wii as well. Although I'm still worried I'll play it for awhile and then get bored.
I sadly got bored of Brawl after a few weeks (something that didn't happen with Melee... Maybe I burned myself out on Melee in the past) because of the online experience, and the fact that it was so similar to the previous game. Its good if your playing with friends, but random matches are not great and sometimes filled with lag.
The reviews say Kart online is about the same, but has less lag than Brawl. I'm glad they give you the option to use a Classic or Gamecube controller cause from the reviews I've read the Wheel is good, but not great. They also say its more of a casual game, etc... Ok actually I haven't read a 100% positive review for it yet, but I think a lot of people are being hard on reviewing and giving opinions on Wii titles lately. Hopefully it will be great.
Is anyone planning to pickup Okami for the Wii next week?

I've seen it posted on a few gaming sites. WiiFit is out in Japan now, and has a weight limit of 300 pounds for the board. There are some rumors that the US board will hold more weight, but not a lot more (15 or 30 pounds more). I think the same board will make it here to the US. The 300 pound weight restriction may seem like a lot, but it should be higher for something thats designed to get you in shape.Disney Lover wrote:Where did you find the weight limit for the Wii Fit? I couldn't find it anywhere

To Rock Band, or not to Rock Band...
I finally got the chance to play Rock Band on my friends PS3 last week, and I loved it. Its the most fun I've had in a while gaming. I really stink singing, but it was so much fun. I'm going to have to pick it up, I just don't know if I want the Wii Version. Missing download content is a let down, but the basic gameplay remains the same.
Is anyone going to get the Wii Version? and are there any plans to add download content later? I know storage is a issue on the Wii.
