An impressive and wholly-enjoyable review, Renata! (Road to/Tales From) Avonlea is one of my all-time favorite shows and your review has done it far more justice than any DVD release has, particularly Disney's. I really hope they give future sets better treatment because I don't want to have to pay Sullivan's prices, but if that's what it takes to not have chopped up episodes, then so be it. I found myself very much in agreement with your review. Two lines in particular really had me laughing, but I'll let everyone else read for those themselves. I will say that you've earned yourself an award for best word used in a UD review to date: pulchritudinous.

Great review, Renata! Man, those boxsets all just reek of missed opportunity! It sure was an entertaining read.
Great Scrubs review, Luke. I'll be picking this set up when I get the money. Lately, my wallet has been getting into this nasty habit of being empty all the time.
It took me a while to get to it, but I finally read the Cinderella Gift Set review and I'm glad that it doesn't disappoint. Great job, Matthew & Mike, especially for your first UD review.
I haven't read every single review that has been posted lately, but I appreciate the work that goes into them and I hope you guys keep up the good work!.

A Thanks to Pasta67 Over Cinderella Gift Set Review
Thank you very much, Pasta67! I know you don't really care for Cinderella, so I'm sure it took more effort than usual for you to read a review about it's Gift Set. Thank you for your complimenting words. You know, I bought the Aladdin DVD partly because of you and other people's voiced love of it, as well as nostalgic reasons. I wish the Cinderella DVD had been treated to similar features that were on the Aladdin DVD, even a game like that Magic Carpet Adventure(it took me a long time trying to open that wall in Jafar's Dungeon!). They could have done something like freeing Cinderella as the mice with the key, or a pumpkin coach tour of the kingdom...Pasta67 wrote:It took me a while to get to it, but I finally read the Cinderella Gift Set review and I'm glad that it doesn't disappoint. Just to let you know it, Pasta, you are one of the funniest people in this forum! There was that time(although some of them are still around) that everyone got all these ticker factory banners counting how long it would take for a certain thing to happen, and you had one about how long it would take for that fad to end. That was clever and hilarious.

You're very welcome. I'm always happy to read anything about an animated classic. Actually, we got Cinderella for my mom for her birthday, and after I watched it and the bonus features, I ended up liking it a lot more than I remember. So, I don't dislike it as much as did a few weeks ago.Disney Duster wrote:Thank you very much, Pasta67! Thanks for reading Scrubs and all the others, Pasta. Your feedback is much appreciated. And since I never found a place to commend you on that ticker signature (which I'm certain is accurate to the exact day), I'll say kudos for that here too.
And of course, there's a new review:
Home Improvement: The Complete Third Season
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/homeimpro ... ason3.html
It's my last Season Set of the year...well besides "Spin & Marty" (I suppose that qualifies) and "Gargoyles" (a third of a season, but about the typical length). Well, at least the last four half-hour series I've reviewed have ranged from very good to superb!

Finally decided to make some comments, go me!
Five Mile Creek's review was very well done, and as usual, I avoid reading the episode descriptions so as to not spoil anything until I buy the set, which I'll probably do! I've never heard of the show until reading about it here, and it seems interesting enough for a blindbuy in the future! Great job, Aaron!
Scrubs Season Two's review was great, Luke! I often find it hard to read a review for a show I don't watch regularly and don't particularly enjoy, but it was definitely an interesting read!
The Avonlea DVD sounds disappointing, unfortunately. 40 minutes??? That's unacceptable. But otherwise, the review is topnotch and Renata deserves a dancing elephant to cheer her up!
Lukester, give her a DVD to review that'll make her happy, lol!
Finally read Home Improvement's Season 3 review, Lukester! You get a dancing elephant too!
I've only got the first season for HI, and quite frankly, I was a bit disappointed with the series. Not disappointed in the DVD, but in that I bought a show I found had little rewatchability (for me). Don't get me wrong, the show is great when I catch it on my Fox affiliate at 2 in the morning, but I simply couldn't find myself wanting to buy it on DVD to watch on a whim. But as usual, whenever I read a UD review, I find myself wanting to buy what I just reviewed! So I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up Season Two and Season Three sometime after Christmas!

Thanks for all the lovely words about my review! I feel like I hardly deserve them, considering the (lack of) time and effort I put into my reviews.
Aaron - You especially deserve thanks for giving me all the information on the Sullivan set. If it wasn't for you, I would still be thinking I was reviewing a set of quality chop-free episodes!
Oh, and in response to a comment by Escapay - Considering my current school workload, I say no DVDs to review will make me quite happy enough, thank you very much.

As usual, I avoid reading episode descriptions for TV Shows, simply because I don't wanna spoil anything (I'd rather buy the series, put in the disc, and go, "OMG, I remember this episode!" five seconds after the opening credits...). But skimming quickly through the pictures, I can see a few of my favorite episodes are on season three:
1. The one where Blanche can have any man she wants and Dorothy can build a snowman in June!
2. The one where Blanche seduces Rose's cousin Swen (It's Sven!) He's mine now, I can call him whatever I want!
3. The one where there were no seats left so Becky's fiance sat...at Becky (horrible joke, but I couldn't think of anything else to say)
4. The one with the restaurant that serves "For whom the Bell Peppers Toll", "Edgar Allan Poe-tato Salad" and "Catcher in the Rye Bread"!
5. The one where Blanche and Rose are collecting lingerie for needy sexy people!
6. The one where Rose dances by herself at a dance competition!
7. The one where "Mr. Terrific" is just a stage name!
8. The one where they grab that dough!
And of course, there's also the usual:
1. The one where Sophia tells a story.
2. The one where Rose tells a story.
3. The one where Dorothy doesn't get any.
4. The one where Blanche sleeps with somebody.
Anyways, as usual, great review Aaron! And great color scheme, Lukester!
Send them to me, then!pinkrenata wrote:Considering my current school workload, I say no DVDs to review will make me quite happy enough, thank you very much

Haha, bad joke.
As I said in the Sky High press release, great review Lukester! I'm looking into getting the movie post-Christmas as a blind buy.
And I just read the review for Muppet Movie, can't say I'm pleased with Disney's release, and I'm definitely one of the non-fans of Pepe, perhaps the most useless Muppet since...well, he's the first of the Useless Muppet Series! Since I don't own the Sony release, I'll probably pick up Disney's release sooner or later.
Looking forward to the review for Muppet Christmas Carol, though!

Very nice job on the Muppet review, Luke! I knew that some of those actors had cameos, but I am bad at connecting the names to faces when I watch the movie, so your list helped me out.
I already have the Columbia release, so this gets a pass from me. The only one of the four new Muppet DVDs that I will get is Muppet Treasure Island because of the widescreen and AV quality. I wish that Disney had given us extras that were worth something on the new releases; I plan to call the 800-number about both that and the fullscreen director's edition for Muppet Christmas Carol.

Great job on the reviews, as usual! They're always very informative on a lot of background information (such as the times during which the film was produced, as well as the previous-sometimes-superior-in-bonus-features DVD versions). It's like a history class except for DVDs, lol. Dancing elephants for all.
Anyways, read TGMC and TMCC reviews, as well as MTI and I have to say I'm really disappointed at the changes in Bonus Features for TMCC and MTI, so I may just hunt down the old versions (preferably used) and make them two-disc sets simply to have the extra features that seem pretty worthwhile. TGMC wasn't really my favorite Muppet movie, so there's no big loss over the Sony release, and I'll probably pick up the foursome of Muppet movies post-Christmas.

I got the impression that "Hollywood on Television" wasn't really a "starring role," so I was referring to her first sitcom, "Life with Elizabeth," which began in 1952.Robin Hood wrote:1949dating back to her first starring role on a television series in the early 1950s.
According to IMDb, it's 4, although the last year may have not have been as part of the "main cast." Of course I have no place arguing with Betty's biggest fan.Robin Hood wrote:Three years, 1983-1986.she landed a spot on "Mama's Family," where she appeared for four years.

Thanks for reading the reviews, Escapay and Robin Hood! Luke, your 3 Muppet reviews were great. Overall, I'm okay with having the new TMM, TGMC, and TMCC as my lone copies of the movie. For Muppet Treasure Island, though, I think I will take your suggestion and get the original too to make a definitive 2-disc set. It will be easier for me to think of it in that way than as having 2 copies of the same movie, which really bugs me for some inexplicable reason. Hopefully Wal-Mart still has the $5 copies that I recently saw of it and Muppets Take Manhattan (for which I'm still keeping faith of an eventual re-release, preferably by Disney if they choose to go after it).
It's a shame Disney couldn't have either dropped the fullscreen transfers, made these 2-disc sets, or both. But hey, there's still actual anniversaries for each movie, right? Maybe we'll see those yet!
I can't wait to see what all the hype is about over these TMCC and MTI discs.
