Thanks Disney Kid for the heads up. It always makes me so happy that there is always someone left who is the head of reasoningDisneykid wrote:Let me just clear something up right now for all of you. Teedee (whose real name is Kylie) is a member who previously invaded the DisneySites forums (as well as several others, including IMDB's). She has autism, and for those who don't know, autistic people tend to stick with something and not let the subject go. In Kylie's case, it's a Great Mouse Detective sequel. The person she keeps referring to is a friend of hers who is a fanfic writer and plans on working for Disney. Unfortunately, Kylie interpreted it as something official, and has gone on a tangent on every conceivable message board known to mankind on this subject. We've gone through a lot with her over at DisneySites and eventually had to ban her after repeatedly telling her to stop spamming the boards with this topic (she made a good 10 threads or so about it). So to sum it up, there's no Great Mouse Detective sequel coming in the forseeable future; this is just someone who's very confused and won't let things go. You've all been warned, now...

I think Basil of Baker Street is the book GMD was based on. Somewhere in the credits of the movie they do mention this and that's probably where you saw the title.PMcOuntry wrote:Maybe I thought that because I've seen under 2 names, Great Mouse Detective & Basil of Baker Street and for some reason I thought they were two seperate movies, who knows! I think it's a cute classic.

Anyhow, a sequel for GMD would be interesting, but I see it work better as a tv show with Basil dealing with different cases. The movie has great characters and lots of room for further development and new and exciting plotlines. I would definitely watch a GMD tv show.
i don't know... GMD is my absolute favorite disney movie and for three reasons:
1. Ratigan
2.Felicia (the big fat cat)
3. fidget
I think that should a sequel be made without them being in it, i will forever boycott it. However, if they do appear in it, which is possible for it is never made clear wether or not Ratigan dies, then i will gladly see it.

Thats actually a good isea. GMD is a movie that can actually be converted into a good cartoon series. I wonder why Disney dosnet see these things.Kram Nebuer wrote:

I read somewhere online that Disney was supposed to make a movie that featured Mickey Mouse getting mouse-napped & Minnie has Basil of Baker Street search for him. The movie was also to include dozens of other Disney characters- do you think maybe thats what they mean as a sequel to the Great Mouse Detective?

Well. This movie is "Search For Mickey" is the first length animated feature and that's a GMD sequel where they're in the making that the information will tell us about the GMD sequel until Sept. 2005. Which GMD is based on Eve Titus' Basil Of Baker Street book series.

The movie you are talking about is the Search for Mickey Mouse, which was supposed to be the 50th hand drawn animated classic. However, that project along with movies 45-49 are all believed to be cancelled projects. I think the project was cancelled even before the hand drawn animated movie department was closed down because incorporating that many characters into a plot was too problematic.

When I first read that I saw "charcaters was too problematic" and went, huh, how can cartoon characters be problematic? Then I re-read it... hehehe, picturing a Disney character not wanting to film because of a bad hair day...
