And that some studios (Disney, to name one :)) have been late in sending out screeners. Discs used to come 2-3 weeks before release, but now it's on average about 1 week at most (with certain exceptions). I'm not sure if they're just overwhelmed by all the releases or if they're trying to prevent piracy or really early reviews or something, but I know I need more time than a week (especially when there are 10 DVDs like next week) and clearly, three other UD reviewers working on post-street DVDs right now do too.

That's nuts! You would think that these studios would want to give people a bit more time to get the reviews done, and posted, so that they can get the reviews to the consumers. It is a way to promote the release. You would think that they would want to take advantage of that.

At any rate, I wasn't saying anything bad about any of the reviewers. It's just something I've noticed recently, on many websites, that most of the newer releases are getting reviewed, after their release.

MSN.com has an article up about Desperate Housewives, and what a tease the show is. It is an interesting read, but doesn't really reveal anything about the new season.

It can be found, here:

Ahhhh! Now this is a much more interesting read. USAToday.com has an article posted about Desperate Housewives, and it is very exciting!

Enjoy!

Haven't read the two articles yet, but I'm still itching for the premiere on Sunday!

And I'm still upset about the bonus disc crap with Wal-Mart and Target. Wal-Mart's disc is a waste of time, and Target's disc should have been included normally in the DVD release. It may just be a recap, but it's part of the order of episodes, and shouldn't have been just a bonus. Also, they should have included the scenes from the original pilot with the original actors (Sheryl Lee as Mary Alice, Kyle Searles as John, and Michael Reilly Burke as Rex).

I love that they included extras on the set, but since I haven't been watching the episodes yet, I was wondering what Episode 23 is, since Disc 6 only has 3 episodes, but says it is Episode 20-23.

And did anyone else NOT get an insert, even though there's a pocket for one?

I got the insert. And at Best Buy I also got a bonus disc that does have some relevant things that you might like. There are rehearsal scenes with the original cast members you mentioned, nothing really on film, just rehearsals.

Also a one-hour capsulated version of season one that helps people who didn't see the whole season catch up on the goings-on on Wisteria Lane.

I got mine at Best Buy, and did get inserts. Mine has three inserts: An ad that states you can see the Nissan 350Z Roadster on Desperate Housewives, a TVonDVD ad which gives information/release dates for BVHE season sets, and an ad which promotes other Desperate Housewives merchandise, such as T-shirts, a Desperate Housewives book, etc.

I got the Best Buy calendar, which is NOT a full size calendar. It features characters from the show, with some quotes of things they said throughout the season.

My Disc 6 states that it has episodes 21-23, so either you've read it wrong, or you have a misprint.

I would LOVE to have picked up the bonus DVD, with "Sorting Out the Dirty Laundry", but the Best Buy I went to only had the calendar.

1. Gilmore Girls
2. Desperate Housewives
3. House

My favorite character is definatley Bree (Marcia Cross, Rex: "I can't believe you tried to kill me". Bree: "Well, I feel badly about that." )

I cannot wait until Sunday!!

Ahh, nice to see that the "inserts" weren't necessary, so I can live without them. I'm just a little peeved that they didn't even make a DVD guide insert, you know, with a listing of what episodes are on each disc, what bonus features, what extended episodes.

And now I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish I got it at Target or at BestBuy, simply because the bonus disc is loads better than the should-use-as-a-coaster disc from Wal-Mart.

There is a booklet with episode synopses in the UD review copy. Sounds like a lot of people got copies without this inside it, though.

AARRGGHHH!!! That's not fair. :x I assumed that the inserts dvdjunkie and MadonnasMadOne talked about were the only ones inside.

I should have expected this from Wal-Mart. Every Disney DVD I bought from there never had an insert. Sometimes I think they open them and take them out, then re-plastic-ize (is that a word?) them.

I have half-a-mind to just go to Target and buy it again and sell my Wal-Mart one to GameStop, since I can't exactly bring an opened DVD back to Wal-Mart.

If you buy the "Desperate Housewives" DVD box set and don't get an episode by episode insert, call this number 1-800-477-2811. This will take you to a menu at Buena Vista Pictures...........choose option General Inquiries, then press 0, and you will get a very friendly live person on the other end. Explain your dilemma and they will make sure you get the booklet with the episode breakdown in it sent to you directly.

Hope that this helps those of you who didn't get that booklet in your boxset.

I'm so excited! The new season starts, tonight, at 8 p.m., Central! It kind of ticks me off, though, that they aren't doing a two-hour season premiere, like they did with Lost.

The reason why Desperate Housewives is one hour is because Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is two hour season premiere.

Okay, well, the first episode of Season Two was interesting. It's good that Mike didn't get killed. That man is PERFECT for Susan. Susan is attracted to drama, and Mike has plenty of it. The poor guy...I feel sorry for him. He's had to deal with so much death, and has been blamed for a great deal of it.

Rex's mom is a real beotch! I'm afraid I'd have to smack her down. I was disappointed that the funeral was not more "sad". I really wanted to see Bree grieve. After all, Rex was the love of her life, even though he had cheated on her. The finale of last season shows Bree grieving, after she had found out, which was touching. It shows that she has a real heart. I was hoping at the funeral she would let it all out, even though that is not her character. It is in her character, however, to not let Rex be buried with that hideous tie. I laughed out loud when she went to the congregation, demanded Tom's tie, then propped Rex up, took the old tie off, and put the new one on. HILARIOUS!

I'm very interested in what is going on with Mrs. Applewhite. I wonder who it is that she has in the basement? Is it Paul? Hmmm.

I also want to see Bree's son, Andrew, exploring more of his sexuality. I hope that they do not just drop that story line.

Overall, the episode was pleasing. I hope that they keep things as interesting as always.

So, those who watched it, what do you think?

I think that if you're gonna post before people on the West Coast watch it, you should highlight the whole post and color it white. :)

I thought the first episode was great! :D
Funny and interesting! Glad they added a character--more drama & more secrets!

I, too, laughed when Bree changed Rex's tie! She's crazy! Ooh, and I cheered when Lynette got the job. :p

Ooops. I'm sorry! I didn't even think about the different time zones. I guess I'll have to get Bree to bring out the riding crop, and beat me.

Anyway, here is a new article from MSN.com, about the season premiere:

http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=202542&GT1=6955

Be warned, if you haven't seen the season premiere, there are spoilers.

Bree, honey...get out the riding crop!
