I'm excited for this one too. I love both versions of the Parent Trap movies and I watch them over and over again.
Of course, I had just bought the 1st edition (lohan's) for $10 at Target and then found out the SE was coming out, luckily I haven't opened it yet so I can return it and get the the SE. Does anyone know what it's price might be?

Parent Trap, Special Edition

Post by chaychay102royal »

Is anybody here going to buy it?

I'm really considering it, I liked the movie, but I have it on video (I know, the old "I have it on video, so I'm going to let another Disney DVD pass by" theory that has never completely left...yet...I'm working on it)and I'm worried I'll grow out of it if I haven't already.

Especially since every time I think of that movie I think of everything I've read about Lindsay Lohan now...ugh!

I really love that movie. I already have it on DVD and I will probably still buy it, but I'm obsessed.

If you do not own the Vault Disney version of the original buy that. A much superior movie with Haley Mills.

I have a taped version of the original, but I haven't seen it in years. I might have to watch it again and determine whether or not I like it.

I've read about how Lucille Ball's two children adored that movie after their parents split up, and had their mother watch it because they wanted Lucy and Desi to get back together.

Are you talking about the version where Lohan acted or do you mean the old one? I think it is the new one, but I'm not sure. Anyway, is this a US exclusive? I wonder if it will ever come to Finland.

There is going to be a 2-disc special edition of the 1998 version, but my message about Lucille Ball's kids was when the Hayley Mills version was the only one around.

Single disc actually. Merged this thread with the old discussion on it (which as usual, mostly pertains to the cover art.)

Single disc? Is it still a special edition?

I am now confused.

The original film is available as a 2-Disc Vault Disney Collection title. The remake is coming out as a single disc, Special "Double Trouble" Edition. Usually a SE from Disney means 2 discs, but they use the term loose enough to also mean 1 disc (The Parent Trap) or a special version of the film (Beauty and the Beast).

The only bonus feature on the DVD I have of it is the trailer, so I guess any more would be a "special edition", but I wish it was 2 disc. :(

Well, maybe in 2008ish when the movie celebrates its tenth anniversary, they'll release it again.

But a special edition of a movie released twice in three years seems really unlikely.

The retail price is only $19.99, so you should be able to find it for about 15 bucks the week of release, which is a great deal, in my opinion.
