If Gaston had been a good guy, it would have altered the entire plot!

In answer to the first part: Male Lions Do NOT hunt! Only the females hunt.herman_the_german wrote:
Or the flaws can be huge, like in Lion King, why does the King of Beasts not hunt and kill a zebra or a wildebest? No wonder he's such a wuss! Even Nala beats his butt!
Or in Lilo & Stitch, why does she think that it is an abomination that a fish eat another fish? That is just preachy, politically correct, nonsense!
Second part: She is looking at fish eating fish like people eating people, she sees it as cannibalism, thus the abomination comment.

The 60s and 70s really don't have any films I'm particularly fond of. Part of it has to do with the animation - in both eras, it looks shoddy to me (I know in some films, thats just the style, but I still don't like the way it looks). The other part is that I'm not crazy about most of the stories they used, save for Winnie the Pooh.
That being said, I don't hate any of them. I'm just not fond of them.
However, if there's one Disney movie I hate, it's Atlantis. Terrible movie storywise and character wise, IMO.

Three in my mind stand out as seriously below the rest
Atlantis
The Rescuers(I much preferred down under)
and far and away the worst ... The Black Cauldron.

Hmm... Interestingly masochistic thread. And there doesn't seem to be a clear pattern in the dislikes, either.
Do you think that it could have something to do with us - apart from being different people - being different generations? Perhaps a Disney movie just hits home harder if you watch it as a kid? A lot of people here don't seem to like Aristocats, for instance, but I really think it's magical. I guess I was about eight when it came out. On the other hand, I never saw the point of The Lion King, but my kids loved it. They, incidentally, were seven and eight at the time...
That doesn't mean I don't think some of the classics are not better than others, just that the age/generation thing might be a biasing factor. As for me, I don't really dislike any of the classics (although Oliver & co is a low point) and I'm happy to say I now (got Pocahontas today!) own all available on dvd! Jiipee!

How can you say the Aristocats, Rescurers, Black Cauldron, and the Sword in the Stone are Bad?? These movies were great movies. They had wonderful characters and unforgetable characters. The Aristocats had great songs that make you want to dance. The Rescurers is one of the saddest and most memorable movies with great animation. The Black Cauldron was the first movie ever with 3-d animation. Without that Toy Story would of never came or ever came as soon as it did. It has memorable characters and is a very suspensful story. The Sword in the Stone was a great telling of The Middle Ages and King Author's Court. It also had melodius songs.
Just watch, those may of been in Disney's so called "Dark Ages"; but now with Atlantis, Lilo and Stitch, Treasure, Planet, and Bother Bear is only the first sequence of Disney's long "Black Plague".
