You've never seen Lady and the Tramp? Everybody knows the spaghetti scene... probably one of the most recognizable ones from Disney. I think it's as good as those movies... but others may not. Different strokes, for different folks.

I wasn't even in my teens the first time I saw it. At the school I went to, they showed us Disney films at Christmas and one Christmas we saw Lady And the Tramp.

Thank you. Nice to know there is a cocker spaniel owner out there that knows there is a difference between a well bred cocker and a poor bred one. I worked at a grooming shop for 6 years and most our cocker spaniels were either mean as sin or went the bathroom all over us, the table, and the tubs all day. We had a few good cockers that were of Lady standards. Disney has accidently done terrible damage to cocker spaniels and dalmations with their movies. People wanted Lady/Pongo/Perdita/etc, so breeders bred for quantity and not quality and we still have the reprocussions of that many years later. All cockers USE to be like Lady. Loyal, gentle, playful, loving, etc.

But anyways...Lady and the Tramp is one of my favorites. He's a Tramp and Home Sweet Home were always my favorite songs, along with The Siamese Cat Song, Lalalu and What is a Baby?. I have never been a tremendous fan of Belle Notte. But I always loved when they put their paws in the wet cement. :)
And who was watching the baby when Aunt Sarah took Lady to be muzzled? ;)

I compare Lady and the Tramp with Bambi because they're both about animals, they both have beautiful animation, neither one try to be humorous and neither one of them are exactly musicals. They have three or four songs each, but that's counting opening songs like "Love is a Song" and that Christmas one (I forgot the title).[/i]

I dont think ive watched this movie before, or maybe it didnt leave very much of an imprint in my memory, but im going to try very hard to get hold of it because i believe that i should have all disney classics and i think i will pass them on to my children so they can enjoy them just like i am doiong right now and have done all my life

I just realised this was my first VHS. I sence some strong nostalgia when I'll see it again for the first time. I'm also glad it's coming out at winter since I always associated this movie with winter time, a fire place and hot coco. :) Am I weird or does anyone else have that feeling of it being a winter movie?

It was my first Disney VHS, and probably my second pre-record (my first was actually a public domain title of Terrytoons).

Since we went to the theater to see it during the holidays and because I got that VHS for Christmas the next year, it very much feels like a winter movie to me. :)

I used to have the 1987 Black Diamond print of "Lady And The Tramp." It worked perfectly. I'm not sure what happened to it...

My first Disney VHS was Sleeping Beauty, the black diamond one. It still works beautifully. You can see portions of it from the "Holding Out For A Disney Hero" video. And you think after watching it as much as I have that it would look really bad. I missed getting Sleeping Beauty on DVD though :cry:

Behold... the resurrection of this thread ! :P

I read in a guidebook that Main Street U.S.A is actually inspired by the "Lady and the Tramp" and Walt's hometown, is this true ?

Yes it is, and in my mind it's no coincidence that Lady and the Tramp premiered a month before Disneyland opened (as mentioned on the DVD).

Thought it would be interesting to point it out, but one of my favorite Lady and the Tramp tie-ins to the park with Main Street can be found in Disney World's Magic Kingdom. On the right side in Town Square is a restaurant called Tony's Town Square Restaurant that's themed with murals of Lady and the Tramp inside, and a large window that shows the silhouettes of Lady and Tramp out in the alley. Also, near one of the steps to the porch outside, you can see the heart with the pawprints inside drawn in the cement like from the Bella Notte sequence.

Love that place to Tim. Still wish the served breakfast so I could try some Italian Toast again. The Spaghetti and meatballs are pretty bland but with the sausage it's really good.

I love Lady and the Tramp. One of my favourites.
I like it how everything in this movie is animated to make everybody watch it literally from the dog's point of view.
I love that scene with Lady walking between the legs of the humans when there is a 'baby shower' in the house. I love every scene!
It may be just a simple story, but it is well-made. One to watch again and again.

And now wait for the comments from those who hate this movie... :roll:

I find it hard to believe that such people exist...
this movie is full of childhood memories of mine, it's the movie that initiated my obsession with Italian food.
